Top 5 Venues based on traffic and Entertainment – Camury Reporting...

Second Life is home to a large number of virtual clubs, beaches and inworld role-playing communities that are among the leading platforms for the entertainment of avatars. These venues are often densely populated and record significant traffic in real time.

~SDI~ Skinny Dip Inn and Nude Beach Resort & Dance Club

Skinny Dip Inn is one of the busiest beaches on SL with amongst the highest daily traffic numbers of Second Life. It's a beautiful adult island resort featuring a friendly and fun nude beach. Swimwear is permitted for the modest. You can usually find many people dancing and enjoying the flirty hosts and sexy DJs, events and live shows. SDI boasts a shopping precinct selling everything from clothing to genitalia , a general dance beach, another beach that’s more secluded, as well as a resort. When you first teleport in, you find yourself in the middle of the shopping precinct along with any number of other avatars that have congregated around the landing area. It's a bit of a crush zone, and can be a little intimidating especially for beginners.

Average daily traffic: 100.000 plus

Sim Design: Nice tropical feel, once you get away from the market.

Lagginess: Somewhat laggy when crowded, which is often.

Talking in Local or IM: Visitors and participants of the group, jabber in local chat.

How good is the venue to meet someone: 8 on a scale of 1-10.

Sexy Nude beach

It's a nude beach for all who love fun and nudism in a very popular beach in SL. On this beach, you can meet other people to chat, flirt or find romance. You'll find a spot for dancing or you can go windsurfing, paragliding, go for a boat drive, or even enjoy intimate spaces  for private moments with that someone special.  Of course if you want to relax on your own the choice is yours.

The region is well established with an eclectic feel, they even feature a pyramid Often you will encounter impromptu parties springing up here and there.  The general layout of the sim doesn't seem
to be very organised, but hey it works. If you're looking for unadulterated fun you'll find it here.

Average daily traffic: 78.000 plus

Sim Design:  Beach tiki. Some parts and the overall layout are not really that special.

Lagginess: Somewhat laggy when crowded, which is often.

Talking - Local or IM: Not too much Local chatter. Chances are you'll receive many IM's while exploring the sim.

How good is the place to meet someone: 9 on a scale of 1-10.

Syn City Urban Roleplay

If you're looking for the excitement of roleplay then Sync City could
be just the place for you. Welcome to the dark side of urban roleplay. Pick up an OOC tag, and don't forget a notepad for the rules and general tips. Dive into the sandy landscape with dark alleys and abandoned buildings, Violence is a given.  .  Syn City has dark urban themes including: Mafia, urban gang crime, free sex, kidnap, rape and torture. Expect the unexpected.

If you want to join the game, send a request to one of the group leaders to define the role and character you want to play in this immense world. The most recent events are monitored by "Hathian Observer", a newspaper that can be picked up at various places on the main SIM.

Average daily traffic: 79.000 plus

Sim Design:  The city is impressive to say the least. Each pix elated brick paints the picture of a

city that has seen better days.

Lagginess: there was no lag while I was there

Talking Local or IM: No chatter for visitors (you need to define a role and get into the game to talk to someone.)

How good is the place to meet someone: 2 on a scale of 1-10 for visitors (you need to define your role and play the game if you want to meet someone.)

Franks Jazz Club

Jazz is not very popular genre of music but it is interesting to note
that many avatars are drawn to the jazz clubs. Fish out your glad
rags and go to the Franks Jazz Club. The place is a dance ballroom
and meeting point for men and women seeking romance with a hint
of elegance. There is consistent traffic. The atmosphere is romantic. Sensual sounds set the scene, attracting avatars in search of relaxation, music and romance. When I was there, they were playing love songs

The venue is an entertainment complex, installed on a single island region. You can shop to your hearts desire at the fabulous Galleria Mall which caters for shopping for all tastes.

Average daily traffic: 77.000 plus

Quality of Sim Design:  the ambient light is very bright, some couples may feel exposed. Style 50's it seemed to me.

Lagginess: Very laggy!

Talking Local or IM: virtually non-existent interaction in local chat, which might be time zone related.
It appeared that the couples were otherwise occupied in IM.

How good is the place to meet someone: 9 on a scale of 1-10.

URL: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Franks%20Place%202/239/125/23/

Sweethearts Jazz & Romance club

Sweethearts is not as formal as Franks but they do prefer you to
wear appropriate clothing. The entrance makes you feel as if you're
arrived at a Hollywood gala! The hosts and hostesses are there to
entertain visitors. There is a dance floor for singles and another for
couples. The big yacht anchored off the dance floor sets the tone: laid back, funky, informal, friendly.  Inside there are dark corners with chairs to sit. Girls you're going to have to take the initiative here if you want a dance partner.  The men are inclined to be the strong silent type.

Average daily traffic: 74000 plus

Sim Design:  Old style of hollywood it seemed to me.

Lagginess: Oh yes, very laggy!

Talking in Local or IM: the Staff of the club talk all the time with visitors.

How good is the place to meet someone: 8 on a scale of 1-10.( The girls need to take the first step though.)

GeekSpeak SL - should we give people the unlimited right to change their bodies? Saturday April 9th 12pm SLT

Should we be able to genetically enhance ourselves or our children?  Should we be able to add technology to our bodies?  Is it OK to have surgery that gives us the sight of eagles or makes it possible to fly?

Should we be allowed to change our species altogether?  What about people who want to be wolves or cats?  Or beetles?

The desire to improve or change the human species has caused a lot of misery in the past.  But we are now entering an era where it may be unstoppable.  Will we be wise enough to solve the ethical problems involved?  Will we know where to draw the line?

Come to GeekSpeak and tell us what your descendants will look like in two hundred years

Windlight Magazine To Host First Annual Art Show 2016- Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

From April 11th to April 17th Windlight Magazine is hosting its first annual Spring Art Show. This event will feature over 50 artists competing for a grand prize of 20,000L in cash prizes. Entertainment will be provided by poets, tribute bands and live performances- as well as photo contest, special hunts and a collaborative Art and Fashion Show! From the sound of it, this event will be a blast for virtual 2D/3D Art and Fashion enthusiasts alike!
SLE caught up with Windlight Magazine’s CEO, Johannes1977 for a behind the scenes look at this upcoming event.

Interview with Johannes1977

Hi John, congratulations on Windlight Magazine. You are doing a great job informing the SL community about all the creative Arts that can be found in Second Life. Before we get into the first Annual Spring Art Show coming up, can you share with are readers about the new addition to WM; The Edge?

John: Sure and thanks for the congrats. The Edge is the fashion arm of Windlight Magazine. Fashion is an art form and as Windlight aims to cover almost everything we can about the arts, I decided that fashion needed to be covered. My goal wasnt just to be another fashion magazine or another fashion segment. I wanted to cover art from an artistic standpoint, particularly the images and the stylings (learned this word from Eleseren)! So back in the Fall of last year, I started looking at models and thinking about the ones that would be the right fit for Windlight. The person I had in mind, would have to understand both real life and Second Life fashion and be artistic themselves. I had worked with Eleseren during my LEA build and had seen her work and knew that she was quite artistic and of course she loved fashion. After putting together a proposal for her to come on board to Windlight, The Edge was born and here we are now.
The Edge has stylists and just opened it’s own gallery, which displays fashion photographers who take artistic images. Eleseren is the editor of The Edge and the curator of The Edge Gallery. I have to say that I am very proud at the direction she has taken The Edge and it has added a new dimension to our arts coverage.

The Fashion community is huge in Second Life, so The Edge is a great addition to Windlight Magazine. Now you are combining art and fashion with this upcoming Spring Art Show. Can you tell us about all the exciting activities you are packing into that weeklong event?

John: The spring art show is one out of three we hope to have this year. It is a week long show and will feature over 50 artists. Some are 2D and some are 3D artists. We have an exciting week planned, along with the show, which offers both a juried and non juried competition, we will have a poetry night by Lyrical Cafe, storytelling by Seanchai Library, two live performers, two tribute bands, a special performance by Elysium Cabaret, even a magician! We were lucky to include a charity component, the fashion show will be in support of The National Breast Cancer Foundation and Models Giving Back is the coordinator and firm that is doing the show. Models Giving Back was created by model Jamee Sandalwood and shes been great to work with.
There are over 50 Artists being features at the show as well as an assortment of tributes and live performers. That is impressive! Can you tell us who some of them may be?
John: Sure, the artists are: Antartica Slade, Aradia Aridian, Bamboo Barnes, Betty Tureaud, Boudicca Amat, Bryn Oh, Caelin8 Resident, Carley Noonan, Cherrycarr Resident, Cica Ghost, Danity Mynx, Dawnbeam Dreamscape, Eeraftr Resident, Eleseren Brianna, GlitterPrincess Destiny, Hana Hoobinoo,  Haveit Neox, Honey Bender, Ilyra Chardin, Inara Pey, Jarla Capalini, Joanne Vuitton, Johannes1977 Resident,  Journey McLaglen, Judilynn India, Kayly Iali, Layachi Ihen, Margo Hollak, Miele Tarantal,  Myra Wildmist, Peli Dieterle, Richie Narstrom, Roffellos Resident, Sandi Benelli, Saulgoodie Resident, Secret Rage, Shakti Adored, Skip Staheli, Slatan Dryke, Sparkie Cyberstar, Syphera Inaka, Tempest Rosca, Theda Tammas, Tripleplaynitely Resident, Warm Clarity, Wicca Merlin, Wiild  Alchemi, WrenNoir Cerise, and Ziki Questi. The Edge will also have a gallery set up of some artistic fashion images.

The grand prize for these competing Artists is over 20,000L in cash prizes. Can you tell us about the competition?
John: The juried competition is split into two categories: 2D and 3D art. Each category will have three winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd). For the juried competition we have judges who will have to vote in two rounds and the top 3 artists in each category will win the juried contest. In addition to linden prizes we also have gift cards and other items from our sponsors that will go to the winners. The show is not all juried as we will have a non juried section for artists who simply wanted to display their work or if they work for Windlight, they cannot be juried.
You are also doing a special Photo Contest and Hunt. Can anyone get involved or do they have to register?

John: Anyone will be able to enter the photo contest and the hunt. The spring show will be open to the public on April 11. We will have information on our website and in our groups about how to enter the photo contest.

Are you looking for more artists to feature at this show? If so, how can they get involved?

John: We did the spring show differently as it was invitation only. First preference was to established artists in Second Life. We also try to support our own Windlight artists and those who have shown with us before in the past so they were invited. We did open up 10 lottery slots to people who wanted to apply for one and those have been awarded. If you are an artist and missed out on this one, then I strongly suggest to apply for a Windlight or Edge Gallery Fellowship, as we will have a Summer/Fall show, along with a Winter show also.

Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers about The Spring Art Show 2016?

John: I hope to see as many people as possible supporting the show, but most important the artists. Art adds another dimension to Second Life and its just great to see what people can create in both real life and Second Life. The creativity is enormous in Second Life and I hope the show inspires others to take part in that creativity.

Do you use Second Life for Entertainment, Business or Both? – Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

If both, How do you create a balance between professional presence and leisure Entertainment?

Second Life is a diverse virtual world with endless possibilities. People from around the world log-in each day for a variety of reasons. Some come for leisure entertainment while others do business to ensure the community has what it needs to move forward and keep residents engaged and active.
For years there has been a debate about the health of Second Life’s community and the fine line between real life and Second Life.
You may have come across profiles that say “I keep SL and RL Separate” while others argue that it is impossible to do that when we are real people behind an avatar with feelings that can affect us in real life.
While that is a fact, some view Second Life as just a game, therefore they do not get emotionally involved or share details about their real life. The argument can swing either way but what it comes down to is the individual and how they choose to “live” their Second Life.

If you really think about it from the perspective of a person on the outside who does not know the virtual world culture, it may be hard for them to understand the differences or similarities a virtual world has with the real world.

The difference is in the real world when we meet people face to face and engage in conversation- frequently judgments and stereotypes are made by appearance alone.  In Second Life, a profile description speaks for the person. It brings forth their personality first. This helps people determine whether or not they are interested in engaging in conversation due to similar interests or the lack of.

Another difference is trust, but who really trusts anybody at first sight in real life or in the virtual world?

Second Life really is quite similar in the respect that even in our own neighborhoods and communities we do not know all the people we live close to or work with. We don’t know what goes on in their home and life unless we communicate with them on a daily basis and form trusting friendships or relationships. Even then not all details about ones life is known.

People tend to share more about themselves once they get to know someone well. So in reality Second Life shares the same human concept of communicating, relating and bonding with others. The only difference is people in a virtual world meet from the inside out and we have to rely on our own instinct whether or not we can trust what the person is saying under an Avatar persona.

We can’t deny Second Life has caught a bad reputation due to the questionable behaviors that occur in world- but in its defense compared to the internet as a whole, it is somewhat controlled by residents who choose to steer clear of  people lie, who create problems or the sketchy side of the grid.

Those who engage in dating or adult entertainment have the right to do so as long as they are not supporting illegal activities or breaking Second Life’s Terms of Service.

SL community members can easily become wrapped up in behaviors that they did not originally intend coming into Second Life. For example, business partners might become emotionally involved and decide to date. Just like in the real world mixing business and pleasure can be a lethal concoction. The moment things go sour, the business they both worked hard to create will most likely implode- leaving one or both feeling hurt or used.
Worst of all fighting over who will keep the business or let it go all together.

It is highly recommended to choose either the relationship or a business partner but not mixing both.

Another problem that occurs often in Second Life with it comes to crossing those fine lines between real life and Second Life- is married people getting involved in virtual relationships. No matter what justification someone comes up with for doing it- to many it is considered cheating.

It doesn’t matter if your marriage is on the rocks or even if you have an excellent marriage with a need to feel free. The only ones who truly get the best out of a successful Second Life relationship are singles who have found each other and have nothing to lose if they decide to take their relationship into the real world. The only issue they may face is who moves where and possibly having to get a passport.

Moving on to the business side of things, Second Life offers opportunities to those who are willing to put in the time and effort. Professionalism goes a long way and cannot be expressed enough. Having a good solid reputation for your conduct, a quality product as well as customer support is the real foundation for success.

Mixing business and leisure has its responsibilities. It is perfectly fine to mingle in the community and get to know the people who help grow your business but keep it strictly business with friendly and helpful communication. The minute you begin to share your personal problems, getting involved in romantic relationships or getting into sketchy situations, you begin to taint your reputation.

Drawing lines between business and leisure entertainment in Second Life is a very important decision to make. Knowing how to handle situation will help determine who you are, what you contribute to the virtual community and what you will get out of SL.
No life in SL or RL is perfect because perfection does not truly exist. However, goals should be created in your best interest and benefit those you care about. It will enhance your quality of life.

If you can’t find your happiness, success or balance in Second Life or understand the culture of the community you immerse yourself in-no matter how you choose to “live” in Second Life, there is no sense spending your time in it if it causes you stress or does damage to your real life relationships and opportunities.

If there is one thing you take from this article it is this- If you want to be successful- be professional.

If it is leisure you are looking for- treat people with the same respect you would expect and just have fun.

If you want both- use an ALT for balance.

Remember, time is valuable. It can be spent or wasted but can never be bought back. Use your time wisely when you are in Second Life and it will be worth every minute.
