Finding Pandora - The Original Skin Pandora Drezlean reporting

Pandora’s Poppy became the new me. Changing over to Mesh had turned out to be quite a journey in the short amount of time that it took me to tweak my avi with the final touches.
Going fully Mesh wasn’t half the nightmare that I thought it would be when I got used to it releasing my creative side once more as I played with this new me, experimenting with different makeup and hair.
However there was no denying how much I missed my old face. I mean, I liked my new face, I created it but I just missed seeing the old Pandora.
LAQ has always been my go to place in SL when it came to skins and makeup they were my first choice. Their glow skins had always been so popular way back when and the first time I laid eyes on LAQ’s Lacie I knew I had to have that face.
I always visit the LAQ Store at least every two or three weeks for anything new or different. Then I found her. LAQ kept all of the older glow skins upstairs that now came in two parts. They were separated into head and body omega appliers. I had found my original Lacie.

One quick demo confirmed what I wanted to know and I teleported home to recreate my Pandora in Mesh.
With LAQ heads you can use either system or mesh eyes and so I chose to use the eyes that I used with Pandora’s old self. I wanted to keep something original about her.
Her skin isn’t as highly detailed as the newer skins. In fact she still looks a bit like a classic avatar and her makeup and eyebrows are already preset.

It’s fun to have two versions of me Pandora’s Poppy and Pandora’s Lacie. Poppy is like using a blank canvas where I can apply as little or as much makeup as I want to while Lacie has light makeup which I can simply add lipstick and eyeshadow to enhance her look.
Which avatar gets the most SL time? I think that they are pretty much on par with each other. Finding Pandora was like finding the missing piece of a puzzle for me. I had lived with that face for  almost nine years of my Second Life and I wasn’t ready to let her go.
The best part about all of this was … I didn’t have to.

Mesh vs Classic *** Discrimination In Second Life Pandora Reporting

Discrimination is usually a real life issue but what happens when the hatred spills over into your Second Life and you are suddenly judged by your avatars appearance? To me that is beyond a joke.
I have seen clubs that state in their description “Mesh Avatars Only” and they are serious as they go on to add “No NOOB Mesh Avatars” and “No Flexi Hair.”

When I came back to Second Life I could see that a lot had changed. I knew that I would have to mesh up eventually. I began with a mesh body and my system head. While most people were okay with it. (Oh thanks for your approval) to others I had a mix and match look that did NOT match and they didn’t mind telling me so. I started to feel like some sort of freak … mesh body with a system head. It was doing my real life head in as well … pun not intended.
Eventually it all became too much and after taking a long hard look at myself I decided to change for ME and only me. In Second Life demos are your friend and I bought lots of them and got to work. I felt very proud of my achievements. I would be accepted now right? WRONG.
On the flip side a few people who hadn’t converted over to mesh or still had their system heads no longer wanted to know me. With the exception of a few REAL friends I had become an outcast. I’ve even had comments such as “You must feel much better now that you’re mesh” and I’m thinking to myself “You must feel much better now that I’m worthy of hanging out with you.”  This was a painful experience for me and it still is. The changes I have made to myself and will continue to make are for me and me alone.

I have FRIENDS in SL who don’t see me as often if at all and others have dropped off completely. My whole mesh experience cost me close to 20,000 Lindens which is roughly $124.00 US because I live in Australia so the conversions are different. That includes a mesh body and head. Skins and makeup as well as hair and clothes. The list is endless.
Do I regret my decisions? No way I like my look and it’s mine. Don’t like it? Don’t look and while your’e at it go get a head or move on ahead … whatever.

Getting A Head In Life Pandora Drezelan reporting

Okay, the last time that I wrote I had been checking out the Mesh situation in Second Life. I sampled a few demos and decided on the Maitreya Lara and Belleza Venus bodies.
I am currently wearing the Maitreya Lara body.
I liked both … it’s good to have a back up plan I guess.

The time had come for me to make a choice regarding my system head and this is where the problem started.
I really liked my system face … I mean like REALLY but I hated my actual system head. It didn’t look good with my new Mesh body no matter what I did.
I tried Mesh hair and Tattoo layer makeup I even bought a choker to hide the neck seam however there was no denying the way that I looked to ME.
Shopping wasn’t as much fun anymore. Everywhere I went I saw I lot of amazing makeup that I couldn’t wear unless I had a Mesh head.
This is only my opinion but unless you are really lucky then most system heads do not look good on a Mesh body. While the Mesh body is smooth wearing a system head with it doesn’t match up and may appear to have harsher edges.
I have always been a fan of LAQ. I’ve worn their skins for as long as I have been in SL. Two of my favourites were Lacie and Tasha so I decided to go back to where I started in the beginning and I purchased every demo that I could find.
I had five heads to demo. Sandy, Nyx, Leia, Neve and Poppy as well as skins and make up and the demo HUD.
I made a Project Folder for my demos and now the fun begins.
I demo’d everything to death for over two weeks and after many early mornings and sleepless nights Poppy won as my head of choice.
Then I TP’d back to LAQ
and bought EVERYTHING on my check list and straight back home again to get it all sorted. I had already tweaked Poppy’s head to look the way I wanted her to look. Now it was time for the final touches.
I made a folder for all of her body parts and named it Pandora’s Poppy. I made copies as well because I just make copies of everything. It drives me crazy that my inventory is so organised but I like it that way.
Now Pandora’s Poppy is complete. If you haven’t converted over to Mesh and you want to  then remember to demo EVERYTHING.
Make all the changes that you want on the demos. You can always take a break and start again later.
Converting from Classic to Mesh is your choice. It’s your Second Life not someone else’s so you decide.
I knew that giving up the face that I had known for eight plus years in SL would not be easy.
I was about to take on a whole new look and it would be worth it.

Meddling With Mesh Pandora Drezelan Reporting

I recently logged back into Second Life after a break that lasted for over a year and a half ... okay I admit it ... I deleted my account which was a really stupid move but my real life was one big mess at the time and I just never thought that I would get back on the grid.

After submitting several tickets Linden Lab restored my account(s) and all is well again in the world of Second Life ... except for MESH. Now for those of you who have already converted over to Mesh this article may not seem relevant but for me and my Classic Avatar everything has relevance.
Don’t get me wrong ... I like the way my Avi looks and I have spent both a lot of Lindens and effort to make her as original as possible. Curiosity did get the better of me after a few days of SL window shopping so I decided to check out the Mesh situation for myself.
Firstly I made landmarks EVERYWHERE then I spent another day Demo shopping ... my shops of choice were LAQ and Maitreya and EMOtions to name a few. I also joined a few groups and took advantage of the gifts that were on offer ... I made a folder for all of these items so that I wouldn’t forget where I had put them or rather where my inventory had decided to place them.
My next step will be to pay a visit to the closest sand box to do some unpacking and sorting and then back to my home base to try all of my demo items. Home is a simple room with a bed and nothing more ... the cost is only Ten Lindens a week but it’s somewhere to park my avi ... for now.

I feel like a newbie again.
Thank you LL ... it is great to be back.

Spotlight on KiX Creations- Pen Dragon Reporting...

Price and prim are everything when decorating, rather it be a small linden home of a full sim. It’s imperative that you use decor that has the least amount of land impact so you can have more room to decorate. We all scour the grid and Marketplace for the best value and we don’t want to skimp on quality. That’s where KiX comes in! With top quality builds, low land impact and great prices you can find what you need all in one place.

Many of the animations you’ll find in a KiX product were hand made by the creator Ki Xaris, meaning they will fit the product perfectly. They carry a wide variety of items ranging from pose sets, one of their first items, to a BDSM collection with top quality textures and designs.

I spoke with Ki and his wife Cindy Evanier-Xaris about all that they offer in their store and more.

                                                                  INTERVIEW

Q: When did you first start KiX?

Cindy: errr Ki? Officially? We started with a tiny store on a sim where I was co-owner of a club but it wasn't as serious as it has become.
Ki: Pen, it was back in 2011. Back in the days of sculpties and tortured prims.

Q: And who does what? Are one of you the builder, the other a scripter..Both co -owners?

Ki: Cindy focuses mainly on marketing but has input at the early design stage.
Cindy: Ki does the mesh and a lot of the animations.

Q: So your animations are custom made for your products?

Ki: they all were up until a year or so ago, then we started buying some to give me more time for mesh making, so it's a mix now.
Cindy: Ki will make them if its something specific now to fit.

Q: What was the concept behind Kix? Was there a need you weren't seeing met, or something you wanted to have, but it wasn't available at the time?

Ki: Cindy, I think it was your idea to set up a store wasn't it?
Cindy: Well, originally, it started just for stuff for us. We have an opensim region and wanted content there, Ki wanted to build..so that's how it first started. I don't think he had any intention to sell it at first.

Ki: I was quite happy building stuff for the sim, learning as I went along.
Cindy: I saw what he was making and believed it had to be brought to Second Life.  Originally it was a case of: let's just see. I like it, others will.
Ki:  I'd just started using blender and in those early days it had a fiendishly difficult interface and I was using poser to make animations.

Q: What was your first product?

Ki: hmmm
Cindy:I think the first was the animations and poses wasn't it?
Ki: These days the things I make are always mesh, using materials. The mesh builds have become more significant part of what we offer.

Q: What do you think makes KiX so successful?

Cindy: I think it's that people can see the quality in what Ki makes and we don't charge huge prices, so they get low prim, high quality at a great price. Ki is always striving to lower the LI of something.  I say oh it's just 1 more LI but he is determined to try for hours sometimes to get that extra LI off it.
Ki: it would be great to make things where LI is not a constraint, but for most people Land Impact is part of their budget.

Q: What is your best selling product?

Cindy: Our BDSM range is very popular and more recently we have branched into a lesbian range which completely surprised us with its popularity. I mean we did our homework, we knew it was something people wanted.  The customers wanted lesbian furniture for them, ie not just a section in an adult bed menu.

Q: So clearly you listen to your customers, how do you do that?

Cindy: We have a suggestion contact on our blog, not used much but we do like to ask!
Ki: We also keep an eye on sales patterns over time.

Q: What would you like our readers to know about Kix?

Cindy:  we would just like people to come see us, judge for themselves.  Test everything! If nothing else that's fun.
Ki: Well said Cind.  At the end of the day that's what we're trying to do.  Offer things that people enjoy by offering things that we like.
Cindy: We also try to do a group gift at least every 6 weeks, I am always giving away stuff.

Q: What about customer Service, I know that can be a big deal.

Cindy: well I am online more often than Ki, so both our profiles refer them to IM me. It's rare but we try to get it sorted within 12 hours if there is any issue. If it's our fault we would refund and then try and sort it out but really it's only been double purchases, but Ki has usually caught that anyway in the sales.

When you want it all: Good price, great looks, custom animations and low land impact you have to look to KiX for the solution. It’s a great shop with good people behind it all. It’s hard to find that combination and you get it all ay KiX!

TOP MESH BODY SHOPS FOR MEN - Camury Reporting

Many men are interested in joining the mesh revolution and investing in one of the bodies that the market offers. If you are one of those people who have not yet invested in a mesh body, but want to buy one, we hope to help you with that decision, with basic information about Second Life's most popular mesh bodies.

SLink Physique – Male
The Body Slink is much appreciated by men who want a slim shape. This body fits pattern knit very well and it is not necessary to make many adjustments, not form for a decent look. The body sliders are very good, which means that it is possible to increase the muscles, etc, without deforming the body. The body is compatible with Omega, which expands as possibilities of applicators for skins and tattoos.

It is necessary to buy hands (which have already been updated for Bento) and slink feet separately, which can discourage the laziest. The body comes with "male parts" (not functional), this facilitates to undress the clothes without worrying about putting an attachment. The Alpha cuts are detailed enough to allow wearing most knit clothing. The body also fits with most knit heads, perfectly.

Resuming, Slink is a practical body if you plan to use your existing, well-constructed mesh closet, for your applier, and nice looking needs.

Cost - L$1.250,00

Includes – Fitmesh Body, applier shorts, fitmesh boxer shorts and fitmesh tank top and jeans

TMP – Men’s Body
The TMP body is shapely, sexy is ideal for those who like a sturdier body with more muscles. I see a lot of this body, circling SL beaches. This body is sold in the versions: free, starter, basic and deluxe. I recommend starting with the free version and playing around with it for a while before deciding to go for other versions. All versions feature 32 well-detailed skin tones to choose from, but you need to purchase Deluxe Body to get Alpha HUD, and you'll need that HUD to wear clothes, believe me! This body is built with its skeleton somewhat different from the system skeleton, which makes it difficult to adjust standard knit trousers. The body is not compatible with slink hands and there is no update forecast for Bento hands.
TMP provides a developer kit for other designers, so, more and more, you will find fitmesh in the market for this article. Clothing layers are available in the Basic and Deluxe bodies, but are not compatible with the OMEGA system. The body has trouble adjusting mesh heads from other stores and you will have to struggle to adjust the neck line unless you purchase the TMP mesh head. The body does not come with the "male parts" but the aeros men's set perfectly.

And why "The Shops" set up their shopping system like they did, I have no idea ... it's a bit daunting but do not give up if this is the body you want!
TMP Mesh Body

Cost – L$ 5.000,00 ( Deluxe body)

Includes – Fitmesh Body, hands, feet and fitmesh boxer shorts.

Signature – Gianni
Men are loving this body muscularly, but not excessively. This body is compatible with standard size clothing and classic fitmesh, and there is plenty of fitmesh available in the market for this body. The body comes with some great skintones and there are signature applicators available in some stores to help you find the perfect skin. The body was upgraded to bento hands. The feet have alpha cuts on them to hide the feet and there is a medium foot, very useful for unmanned shoes and some men's boots. The alpha HUD is a bit difficult to see with tiny slices. HUD has the ability to send you updates, which is a great time saver.
Signature – Gianni
Cost – L$3.500,00
Includes – Fitmesh Body, hands, feet & HUD

Niramyth – Aesthetic
This is the ideal body for those who want a muscular avatar. The body and the skins are really detailed, with hairs, eyebrows and other detailed options. The body includes Fitmesh Body, Mesh Head, 5 shapes and an AO. In the last update, Bento mesh head and Bento mesh hands with 18 hand poses were added.
The Body will not fit in most standard size clothing but Designer kits are available and there are different designers currently working on knit garments and footwear for this body.
The Body has a Alpha Hud friendly and HUD RGB that helps adjust the skin tone. To look different, you can invest a little more and buy one of the various skin applicators that are already available in the market for this body.
Cost – L$2.799,00
includes – Fitmesh Body, Mesh Head, 5 shapes and an AO

Tellaq – Broderick
This is another muscular body, much appreciated by men in SL. This body includes: Mesh Head, Body (fitted and normal mesh versions), HUD, Shapes, Fitted Mesh outfits, Eyes and a variety of skin tones. Body hair is optional and can be easily removed and placed.
This body is easy to use and understand and the package comes with some clothes including two knit jeans, two knit cardigans, boxer, etc, all with HUDS color. Having clothes in the hud is a great plus for those who are lazy to shop.
This body does not have an alpha HUD and available alpha selections are designed to suit the clothing included with the body. This makes it difficult to find normal-knit clothing that fits this body.

Cost – L$2.400,00
Includes –  Mesh Head, Body (fitted and normal mesh versions), HUD, Shapes, Fitted Mesh outfits, Eyes and skin tones.
