Spotlight on Bayside Maternity Center

Family roleplaying is very popular in Second Life, just like in real life. It sets the stage for future relationships and is there for each other through challenging times. We all need a family to rely on. They are an essential source of encouragement and affection.

Bayside Maternity Center is the embodiment of building families in Second Life. They offer a unique blend of round-the-clock expertise and patient-centered care. Dr. Lelani Rayne and her team of nurses and doctors hold the highest standard in avatar healthcare and are available to help new patients every step of the way. From health insurance, maternity care, pediatrics, urgent care, and many other medical needs. The SL Enquirer is excited to be a sponsor of this well-thought-out medical facility. We sat down with the owner, Dr. Lelani Rayne to learn more about Bayside Maternity Center and what it has to offer the residents of Second Life.

Interview with Dr. Lelani Rayne

SLE: We thank you for taking the time to sit with us for this interview, with your company Bayside Maternity Center you have a lot going on. Can you tell our readers how your company started and the direction you would like to see it go?

Dr. Lelani Rayne: Thank You so much for taking the time out to interview me. My clinic started in a basement of a mansion I had, I wanted to provide a place where everyone could receive maternity services, regardless of sex, species, or income. The clinic grew quickly so I purchased my first clinic and saw about 5 patients for two months. That too grew even bigger and I needed a bigger clinic. Now I have so many patients a full staff of Drs, nurses, receptionists, and technicians. I am currently of services for maternity, general medicine, pediatrics as well as BeYou patients. The direction I'm headed is to have multiple locations within SL to offer the same as well as more services.

SLE: That’s great that you offer your services to anyone and everyone who wants to experience having a family in Second Life. Your center offers many different services from Maternity to Urgent Care. Can you explain to our readers the different types of care they can expect for each service?

Dr. Lelani Rayne: When a maternity package is selected, you will receive several weeks of exams, blood work, ultrasounds, prenatal care, assistance with the different HUDs, and Pregnancy bodies. General medicine will offer, physicals, blood work, x-rays, and any prescription that can be filled in our fully functional on-site pharmacy.

SLE: That is a full-service medical roleplay facility. You also stated that you offer Medical Insurance. Can you explain how that works in Second Life for residents?

Dr. Lelani Rayne: Yes! Medical insurance can be purchased for and paid monthly, 6 months, or annually and it will cover several services at the patient's request, such as Vision Health checkups & Immunizations

SLE: That's the first time I’ve heard of insurance in SL. The maternity packages seem to be one of the most popular that you have. You offer many different levels of it, can you explain more to our readers what each package will offer and what kind of service they can expect with each?

Dr. Lelani Rayne: Yes! Maternity is the biggest. I offer three packages Standard, which covers short term pregnancies, Deluxe covers slightly longer, and VIP will cover up to a 9 month RL pregnancy. They can expect to receive:

~ FULL CHECKUPS FOR MOM

  • Blood work, Urinalysis, Blood Pressure check, Glucose, and Fetal Heart rate

  • Sonograms

  • Congratulations Package Gift

  • Customized birth Certificate.

  • Delivery in a luxury style suite or clinic water birth

  • The birth announcement in The SL Enquirer (optional for privacy)

SLE: There are many pregnancy / Belly HUDs in Second Life, which are compatible with your maternity center? Do you need a specific product to experience pregnancy and delivery with your services? Which HUD would you recommend and why?

Dr. Lelani Rayne: No. We work with all HUDs and pregnancy bodies. I'm a personal fan of the Lovemomma body because it is very user-friendly.

SLE: Huds and pregnancy bodies can be intimidating, thank you for sharing which is most user-friendly. I see that you offer Lamaze classes, do you find this a popular class for new mothers and fathers to join and learn what to expect before the arrival of their little one or two or three for that matter :)

Dr. Lelani Rayne: Yes, it's popular, it gives parents the opportunity to know what to expect during labor and delivery. It also answers lots of questions new moms and dads may have.

SLE: Since your company inception can you tell us how the clientele growth has been? Do you find that you have more mothers during specific months or times?

Dr. Lelani Rayne: Clientele has grown in a major way. Went from getting 1-2 new patients every 2 weeks to 1 new patient a week, to now getting 31-33 new patients a day.

SLE: That's some major growth! We are excited to sponsor Bayside Maternity Clinic and post the birth announcements in The SL Enquirer as part of your packages and look forward to working with you. Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

Dr. Lelani Rayne: I'm appreciative and grateful for being able to provide affordable care for my patients and patients to come. :-) I want to thank the SLE for working with Me and my team. I look forward to more growth!

One of the best things about Hands on Maternity Clinic & Birthing Center is they never stop advancing and introducing new and improved services to enrich and make your experience even more realistic.

The SL Enquirer sat down with Dr WilliamOwens to introduce a brand-new product sure to excite couples who are expecting a bundle of joy. It’s called the Hands On Mommy HUD and It’s the perfect HUD that includes partners in all the action!

Interview with DƦ.ωιℓℓιαм Gσldeη-ßrιgнt ʍeуer (williamowens)

Lanai Jarrico: Dr WilliamOwnes! I am so excited to be meeting with you to share with our readers more about this new innovative services and products for parents to be!  Before we get into the interview, please share a little about yourself and what inspired you to create such a realistic clinic for those wanting to experience having a baby in Second Life.

Dr WilliamOwnes: Hello Lanai! It is so wonderful to sit down with you today! I first opened Hands On Care, with the invaluable help of my forever partner in crime Higher, over 6 years ago. I am getting old, I know! At the time I looked at the Second Life Maternity Clinic scene and felt like a lot was missing. Through all these years we have helped to deliver over 10,000 virtual babies (each of whom took somewhere between 6 and 45 hours of service) and we have assisted countless mommies from the beginning to the end of their pregnancy journey. Yet our goal always remained the same: providing the most realistic, awe-inspiring virtual pregnancy experience in the warmest, family like and most luxurious setting possible. Basically...creating a realistic experience that feels like a fairytale. A small task, right?! We wanted to allow people who couldn’t have children in real life to feel pampered and experience the closest possible thing to a real pregnancy experience. We wanted them to be inspired by their time with us, we wanted them to leave the clinic having learned something truly special.

Lanai Jarrico: Hands on Maternity Clinic & Birthing Centers is such a well designed facility that encompasses a true pregnancy and birthing experience without the pain! What type of services do you offer?

Dr WilliamOwens: definitely too many for me to mention without having you fall asleep on me! But we are offering just about anything Maternity-related that one could possibly think of. From a-la-Carter maternity care packages, to VIP inclusive maternity care packages, specific mommy products, baby showers, lamaze classes, breastfeeding classes, pediatric services, mommy vacation homes, regular birthing suites, fantasy birthing suites, live avi births, and all sorts of amazing, private locations!

We have always tried to innovate ourselves. That means lots of extravagant ideas that, thankfully, our even more extravagant clients seem to really love. How we love our patients, they are the reason for all of this!

Lanai Jarrico: You should be very proud of what you created! One of the things that separates your clinic from many others in Second Life is that you advertise that you have real Doctors and Nurses on staff at the clinic that offer information on the stages of pregnancy and delivery? How do you vet your staff to make sure they are in fact licensed medical professionals?

Dr WilliamsOwens: Yes, that’s very true. It has always been very important for us to have doctors with real life medical backgrounds. And because there is no way of proving one’s background with a piece of paper to the clients, we want the proof to be in the many details that we share during our interaction with the patients. Often patients are the ones to say “you do this in real life as well, don’t you?” It’s never the other way around.

We have been fortunate enough to work with incredible real-life doctors, OBGYNs, registered nurses and physician assistants.

Every new member of staff has to undergo a long, scrutinized period of evaluation and training that includes specific questions to confirm their real-life medical background. Following these specific questions, It is typically very easy for us to determine whether they are being truthful or not. Despite their background, working at Hands On Care requires adhering to some very specific guidelines. Adapting to these guidelines

requires a bit of getting used to, even for the greatest of experts. We do this to allow even those patients who have already had up to 9 pregnancies with us, to always receive the same level of core medical care - that “HOC” factor. With that said, I always push for our doctors to be themselves, unfiltered and to show the pure nature of their personality. Their colors and shades of truth are beautiful.

Lanai Jarrico: I could not do this interview without going through the full experience myself so from my personal experience, you and your team are very knowledgeable and professional. I would highly recommend your services to those who want to experience pregnancy, labor and delivery in SL. With all the fantastic services Hands On Maternity Clinic provides, I am particularly excited about your newest product which I was able to Beta test.  From what I experienced the Hands On Mommy HUD is compatible with all the mesh bodies and conception HUDs like Mama Allpa! Can you please tell us more about this impressive new product that is currently still in the Beta phase and when it will be available?

Dr WilliamOwnes: Hands On Mommy means everything to us, it is years and years of work condensed into one incredible product. We’ve been actively working on it for 3 years now and I promise you, it’s worth all the wait. The reason why this product is so special is not only because of our knowledge in the maternity field, which allowed us to create an incomparable “active role-play” feature for unprecedented realism, but also because we have seen thousands of mommies over the years. This has put us in a unique position to understand exactly what is missing to enhance the realism of their pregnancies from a second life technical point of view. We learned how much people care about having choices and adaptability, for instance. Therefore, the goal was creating an unprecedented, immersive, interactive and animated pregnancy journey that each of our very diverse mommies could use and customize. A product that could work with everything they have in their inventory, whether it is their favorite conception HUD, their favorite mesh body, their favorite brand of future newborns/toddlers or their favorite clothes. Well, we did more than that! Hands On Mommy can work with or without any gestation HUD. Being pregnant (even multiple times) and setting/changing the timeline of your pregnancy is incredibly easy - it comes at no additional cost.

For those who use Mama Allpa, which is over 98 % of the maternity community in Second Life, we even created the option of automatically matching their Mama Allpa pregnancy time frame in just a click! This was not easy, we had to collaborate with the wonderful Tantrica (the owner of mama allpa) and get ours and her scripting to communicate. But I am so excited that we managed to do it, I know how important this feature will be to thousands of people!

Some people have advised us to add “limitations” on the number of free pregnancies and on all the free “task-related” objects that we included. They suggested to simply re-create everything from scratch to make a greater margin. We purposely decided not to do so, not only did we want Hands On Mommy to be built around the preferences and the needs of our mommies, we wanted it to also be sustainable and convenient from a financial point of view. Consequently, it’s going to mostly be a one-time payment (likely around 5k lindens). One payment that will basically provide you with everything you’ll need for all your pregnancies to come, including access to some amazing “‘mommy areas” of our sim and dozens of pregnancy specific items that we created specifically for our “Hands On Mommy” tasks.

Really, I could speak for years about this product, it has so many unique visual, role-play and interactive features - you need to watch the videos and follow our Facebook page! There will be more videos out soon and we also have a few secret partnerships in the works. Hands On Mommy, is simply setting the bar higher than it’s ever been - It’s truly a game changer.

Lanai Jarrico: I use the Lara body from maitreya and the HUD worked well for me.  How does the HUD work with other mesh bodies? Does it automatically grow their belly with gestation?

Dr WilliamOwnes: One of the cool things of “Hands On Mommy” is that It will work with all of Second Life’s mesh bodies. Meaning you will also get to keep all your existing inventory. As far as the belly is concerned, we created some amazing belly growth animations that automatically progress with your pregnancy. If you choose to use these animations, depending on your avatar’s body type and shape, you may need to add a little bit of torso length or body fat (just like in RL) to achieve a rounder belly look and to make room for the baby in a realistic way. Yet, if you are using a body that comes with a pregnant option or if you would rather use some specific pregnancy shapes or a mesh baby belly, you can totally turn the “belly grows with baby” animations off. The same goes for 2 incredible automatic features that we also offer “curves grow with baby” and “belly moves with baby”(which actually allows you to see your belly move as the baby kicks - it’s adorable). In real life all pregnancies are different, in second life all bodies and shapes are different. We wanted to give you the freedom of deciding whether to use our “belly animations'' or other options that may better match your preferences. There is no “perfect pregnancy” recipe - nonetheless you’ll have the freedom to achieve your own vision of “perfect”. It doesn’t get any better than that.

Lanai Jarrico: I used a Mama Allpa. It is compatible with all the conception HUDs, How does it sync with the gestation period? Or can you customize it to fit the length of the pregnancy?

Dr WilliamOwnes: Yes! it can work with all of the existing gestation HUDs and, for those that use Mama Allpa (by far the most popular gestation hud), it can sync in just 1 click! We worked really hard to make this happen. It can also work WITHOUT a gestation HUD and the timing of a pregnancy can be fully customized, sped up or changed unlimited times at NO additional fee. If you don’t want to sync your Mama Allpa, it’s very easy to manually change the timeline of your pregnancy. All you have to do is click the “change timeline” button and write 1) In How many RL weeks you would like to give birth and 2) How many RL weeks along you currently are (or want to be).

Lanai Jarrico: One of the features I find really impressive is the ability for the Mommy to be to share the experience more intimately with their partner. How does the HUD work for both to interact in the pregnancy experience?

Dr WilliamOwnes: Adding a partner is not mandatory, we know of some amazing single moms that manage everything on their own. But for those who can indeed count on the help of a partner, we wanted “Hands On Mommy'' to truly redefine partner interaction. In just a click (on the mother’s belly) partners will be able to see how mom is feeling (whether sick, weak, good or radiant) and whether mom has taken her daily prenatal vitamins and water. Based on that, partners can remind mom to do her tasks and take her daily water/vitamins, partners can also do activities that actually help mom feel better. These include, giving mommy a snack, petting her belly, kissing her belly and even taking her to our mommy relaxation area or mommy spa. That’s right, in just a click partners can automatically give mom a teleport to some cozy areas (that we have opened up to everybody who has “Hands On Mommy''), help her do some yoga or even give her a relaxing massage. We have not just created some amazing partner options, we opened entire areas of our sim dedicated to partner interaction - we wanted it to truly be special.

Lanai Jarrico: What other features does the Hands On Mommy HUD offer?

Dr WilliamOwnes: They are really too many to mention, but I will try naming a few. First of all, we managed to make the animated fetuses resemble both you and your partner! To do so moms can input their and their partner’s traits of appearance (eyes, skin and hair color) and “Hands On Mommy '' automatically matches both genetic assets (of mom and dad), making a realistic, random combination. For example, if you are white skinned and your partner is dark skinned, the baby won’t be either white or dark, it’ll be a realistic mix of the two colors, just like it would be in real life. On top of that, we also included an “appearance” HUD to manually change features of your fetus - if you really want the baby to have blue eyes for instance, it can be done in just a click. Mommies can also customize the overall appearance of the fetuses. If you would rather not see the placenta, the amniotic sack or the uterus, you can quickly “hide” those parts. Additionally, we added tons of mommy features! We wrote the lyrics and recorded many “pregnancy themed tunes” that you can sing to the baby (it’s adorable), we also included a “Home Doppler'' for you to have the unique experience of listening to the baby’s heart, included a contraction section, a baby development update section, a kick count feature (often done in real life to measure how active the little one is), the ability of preparing and using your “hospital bag”, a “mommy survival kit”, BOM ``pregnancy line” skin tattoos, BOM pregnancy stretch mark tattoos and more!

Lanai Jarrico: Thank you for letting me be part of the beta testing and sharing this product and service here in Second life. I’m sure it will give many couples an amazing experience. Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

Dr WilliamOwnes: It was a pleasure! I do have 2 very big announcements to make.

We hardly ever mentioned the birth so far, but it will be an incredible part of Hands On Mommy that we are about to reveal! First of all, you can initiate everything by going into labor directly from the “Hands On Mommy HUD”. This is done by starting your contractions (either early labor, active labor or transitional labor contractions).

Addressing the birth, “Hands On Mommy” comes with a birthing experience that we will use in our clinic (and likely also sell as a part of an advanced, expensive, “doctor kit” only to extremely experienced, passionate and professional clinics). This will allow you to give birth and hold the baby you have been growing inside of you! This system is huge, it includes doctor animations, baby animations, mommy animations, partner animations and doctor control over different phases of the birth. By the time Hands On Mommy will be released, we will have the new birthing system in all of our birthing suites and it’ll be included in all of our packages in the clinic. While Hands On Mommy will initially only support “single pregnancies”, the birthing experience will allow to also give birth to multiple babies at no additional cost! For the single mommies or couples that would rather give birth on their own, we are also looking at including (at no additional cost) a simpler, natural “home birthing” system!

Moving on to our second announcement, I have never discussed this before but we have been actively working with one of the largest companies of advanced bento female genitalia in Second Life. They are working on a huge, incredible update of their bento vagina and it’ll include full compatibility with Hands On Mommy! I cannot revel much yet, but this partnership will allow us to interconnect Second Life sex, adult partner roleplay, Mama Allpa (optional), “it’s not mine” (optional) and our pregnancy journey, in a way never even thought possible before.

What I can reveal is that your water will actually break and your bento vagina (if you decide to use it) can automatically begin dilating and opening at the right time of the birthing process. Their dedication to the product is incredible, they’re experts in that field and I’ve also seen other features they have been working on for months, and I can tell you, it’s going to be unbelievable!

Trying out an SL Pregnancy : One Woman’s Story” - “Seersha Heart

Seersha Heart: I’ve been a resident of SL for a few years now.  I have never investigated SL pregnancy or had any close friends who experienced one.  I know I have a couple friends with kids, yet I could not tell you if they started at pregnancy or began with children.  Pregnancy is big business in SL, there are a multitude of resources available.  It can be relatively inexpensive or costly.  Much like an SL wedding, you decide your investment.  This story is one woman’s experience from conception to birth using the Mama Allpa birth system.
The mother to be is has never tried an SL pregnancy.  For this story I recruited Durn for many reasons.  She is a honeypot of a gal with a salacious appetite for carnal pleasures.  I gifted her with a Mama Allpa female system and marked off the calendar.  I made notes of conversations with Ms. Durn.  Her opinions are all her own.  Here is her story;

Durn: I can be a bit of a party girl.  I make no apologies for making the most of my social life here in SL.  I knew that Seersha was working on something with SL pregnancies.  Most of what she works on is pretty interesting.  I saw a chance to participate so I volunteered.  It's not as if I will get stretch marks right?
I began this story by putting on the Mama Allpa and wearing it as I experienced a ‘normal’ week.  I didn’t read up about it, just added the HUD and took off.  I decided to begin by visiting the Mama Allpa main store.  Wow what a hookup place!!  My IMs lit up before I rezzed all the way.  There are men there wanting all kinds of things.  And wearing black, showing off one's chest is a rather frequent occurrence.

Some are not my thing.  There was a man there who asked me if I ever thought of becoming a horse.  Apparently, he wanted to mate me in horse form.  He was quite polite about it when I told him that no I didn’t want to be a horse.  Another interesting character was a man RPing a priest.  I admit to spending a little time with him to see what his ‘rp’ was about.  I will tell you more about the priest later.  There was a man there who wanted me to let his friend get me pregnant while he watched.  I’ll call him Military man.  He wanted me to insult him and to demean him as his friend was impregnating me.  I would like to say Horse, Priest and Military were the most unusual men I met there yet that would be a lie.
I met a couple nice and sweet men too.  One man, Ken, IMed me that he wanted to find a “one man” woman and settled down with her.  He confessed that he did not seem to be meeting family-oriented women at the clubs he visited, and a friend suggested he try this location.  I hope Ken found someone nice to settle down with in SL.
For me, no judgement here, the most unusual was a half man half demon that is hung like a horse.  He doesn’t bother getting dressed.  Watson, yes, I thought it was a strange name for a man/demon too, made his avi.  Impressive and large, his sole purpose in SL was to spend his time recruiting slaves and other women who wanted to be “breeders”.  He offered to make me a “treasured” pet but I passed on the offer.  There are several men who visit this location who desire to make as many women pregnant as possible.  I never found out why.

One day, not long after I added the HUD, I noticed that I was pregnant.  Just like that, I clicked on the HUD and my status was pregnant.  The only candidates for baby daddy are men wearing the corresponding Mama Allpa male HUD.  The baby daddy?  This is where my story gets funnier.  There were three possible candidates, Priest, Military and an up and comer I will call Deadbeat.    I wasn’t quite sure which it was, you may be impregnated without having sex.  All you need to do is be close to the person and exchange HUD info.  Since I wanted to get pregnant fast I pretty much took any opportunity.  Sometimes proximately, sometimes the old fashioned fun way.  I did not keep track of who and when.  I thought the HUD will tell me who the daddy was.  I was wrong.  To determine baby daddy, the daddy must be within 10 meters of me while I am tested.
The first 10-meter test was for Military man.   I had my fingers crossed for him.  A bit kinky but very nice guy.  He was not “the guy”, the daddy.  I was sure it would be the Priest or the Deadbeat.  It just so happened that I spent time with them both on the day I believed to be the day of conception.  Deadbeat daddy showed up for the test.  As you probably figured out already, Deadbeat turned out to be my baby daddy.  The baby was a boy!  The Priest was disappointed.  An ironic turn of events, the Priest asked me if I would get an abortion, so he could make me pregnant.  At this point I was pretty done with hanging with the studs at main store.
Now that I was pregnant there were things to consider.  To me, the most important was my shape.  My landlady made a nursery for me in my skybox, so I was free to spend my time figuring out these details.  I decided to design my own shape using the measurements on existing shapes.  I also decided to update my shape at each four-week mark.  I learned I was pregnant at 10 weeks so that is where I began.
Now, after the fact, I started reading a bit about SL pregnancy.  I visited a couple clinics.  I wondered what the baby daddy did in this relationship.  Turns out my baby daddy didn’t even IM me once after.  Being industrious, I made #1 Deadbeat Dad signs with his picture and passed them to all my friends.  I had other men step forward offering to RP the daddy role.  I decided to just see what happened.  I sent the baby daddy a present.  A kiosk from marketplace of a book titled “Having a Baby in SL Guidebook”.  I found the best source of information to be mid-wives and doctors at the clinics.  Everyone I spoke to was super friendly.

Clock started, and life goes on in SL.  When I hit my 30th week, I was feeling a bit curious.  Happy with my shape design, I decided to visit the main store location again.  Who was standing there where I met him?  You guessed it; Baby daddy.  He didn’t even notice me there which worked well for me as I didn’t want to continue a relationship with him.  I planned to stay a few minutes.  I wanted to see how people would react to pregnant me.  I was chatted up quite a bit.  Mostly the same kinds of men as before.  Some getting their kink on and some wanting a relationship.
At this point, since I really wasn’t into family life in SL, I started getting bored.  My clothes didn’t fit well, and I was running out of ways to shock and to surprise people.  That had been my main source of fun during the “weeks” of pregnancy.  By shock, I mean showing up at an ex boyfriend’s DJ gig.  He got a kick out of it.  By surprise, I mean just being in SL and pregnant.  People act differently around you.  It was interesting to see how people behaved.  The strangest reaction was when I donned a formal gown with my big round belly and showed up at a popular club.  Suffice to say I have never seen any pregnant women there and I won’t say the club name.

Birth time rolled around quickly after that slow part in the middle.  I wanted a birth partner and Seersha said she would be it.  I picked out a clinic, a birth method and all the extras.  In the end I decided I did not want to simulate birth.  I’m a simple gal.  In the end I just changed my shape back to “normal”.  The baby is nestled in inventory.

Seersha Heart: Thank you for all your energy, Durn.  I feel like you aren’t telling the full story of the people you met at main store.  Care to elaborate?

Durn: Hmmm…I won’t tell details of the people who were nice folks just wanting to experience an SL pregnancy.  I met several of those.  I will say I was surprised at how many men stake out the main store location.

Seersha Heart: Would you do it again?  Get pregnant?

Durn: Anything is possible.  I am not planning it now, but I am like SL.  Things change a lot.

Want to Get Pregnant in Second Life? Let’s Explore this Question.- Lanai Jarrico Reporting..

It has been a while since I’ve binged on some candid articles about the culture of Second Life so I decided to browse the events list for some writing inspiration and came across this question….  “Want to Get Pregnant in Second Life”?

I’m no stranger to this topic. Many of my friends have popped out prim babies, I even had a stork (creator) drop one on me to promote and play with. Besides that forced parenting experience I also own a zooby baby… or too. I won’t disclose my baby daddy or anything but … I know the process.

Anyway…curious to find out where the teleport would take me, I landed in a fertility clinic but oddly I was ejected and banned  after about 5 minutes with no warning or explanation. Perhaps I should dig deeper into that particular clinic and see if there is some shady business going on. I did nothing to deserve such a rude boot.

With a little light hearted humor let’s get back on topic here.

SL Family role play is very popular as many know. Many SLers have experienced it for themselves while others think it is just weird and ridiculous. Nonetheless most of us have came across a pregnant avie, child avies or a loving parent cradling a prim baby in their arms while subjecting everyone to the belly talking HUD letting bystanders know that Mommy loves her baby or something about nasty stretch marks.

With family role play comes the deed to creating prim babies for many couples.
When these mates get intimate by using sexbeds, rugs, pillows, tabletops and other objects containing sex animation, the act of making babies gets more real but it won’t cause a pregnancy. Couples have to wear a fertility/ pregnancy HUD to achieve conception. (Mama-Allpa & Pooterbilt have good ones)

The next step is finding a clinic that provides the OBGYN roleplay care expectant parents need. There are some pretty authentic ones out there like Hands On Maternity Clinic and Birthing Center. It is operated by real medical professional for a genuine experience.

The whole experience can be interesting, costly and maybe even a bit complicated just to add a little something extra to a loving relationship.

There are different options for going about the whole parenting thing. One way is purchasing an artificially intelligent prim baby or finding someone willing to dress up like a child avatar and roleplay as your offspring.

The child avatar option adds more substance to the relationship between child and parent but it is kind of strange when I see a child avie speaking like a 2 year old and knowing it is really an adult.  Nonetheless to each their own.

Artificial intelligent babies get neglected more because they can’t complain about being stored in an inventory for days or weeks whilst a child avatar might divorce you as their parent and move on to another loving family due to neglection.

What happens when you just want a baby without the “middle man”? Well Second Life offers alternative solutions to child bearing.  The clinic I landed at offers artificial insemination.

I’m left with questions about how this process works since I was so rudely kicked out of the clinic promoting it.  I wonder if fertile avies choose from an ad board of willing donors for a quick hud hook up-minus the flowers and candy or… the deed is done in a more professional roleplay situation using a virtual turkey baster while the patient lays flat on a cold hard table. The process remains a mystery but hey the service is available in Second Life. Here is the link to the Maternity Clinic Rodeo Drive.  Sketchy name but you will have to find out for yourself.http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Vice%20Beach/110/178/32

If sacrificing your hourglass figure, child avatars or artificial insemination aren’t choices you like, adoption is an option.

Just remember, becoming a virtual parent is something you might want to think about if you are unsure about your romantic relationship(s) or if the time you have to spare with your little bundle of prim joy is rare.

Just like having a child in the real world, you have expenses and responsibilities.  Also, nobody wants to see pregnant women twerking in the club or bringing their babies with them to places where adults go to get away from their own kids. It is not cute.

Adding a baby to your virtual family however should be a special and joyous time. The whole experience can be rewarding for some but not only enjoying the bundle of joy in their second lives but enjoying the joys of SL pregnancy while still being able to do some heavy prim lifting or enjoying a drink or two or three.

Congratulations if getting pregnant in Second Life has changed your virtual experience for the better.
