Trying out an SL Pregnancy : One Woman’s Story” - “Seersha Heart

Seersha Heart: I’ve been a resident of SL for a few years now.  I have never investigated SL pregnancy or had any close friends who experienced one.  I know I have a couple friends with kids, yet I could not tell you if they started at pregnancy or began with children.  Pregnancy is big business in SL, there are a multitude of resources available.  It can be relatively inexpensive or costly.  Much like an SL wedding, you decide your investment.  This story is one woman’s experience from conception to birth using the Mama Allpa birth system.
The mother to be is has never tried an SL pregnancy.  For this story I recruited Durn for many reasons.  She is a honeypot of a gal with a salacious appetite for carnal pleasures.  I gifted her with a Mama Allpa female system and marked off the calendar.  I made notes of conversations with Ms. Durn.  Her opinions are all her own.  Here is her story;

Durn: I can be a bit of a party girl.  I make no apologies for making the most of my social life here in SL.  I knew that Seersha was working on something with SL pregnancies.  Most of what she works on is pretty interesting.  I saw a chance to participate so I volunteered.  It's not as if I will get stretch marks right?
I began this story by putting on the Mama Allpa and wearing it as I experienced a ‘normal’ week.  I didn’t read up about it, just added the HUD and took off.  I decided to begin by visiting the Mama Allpa main store.  Wow what a hookup place!!  My IMs lit up before I rezzed all the way.  There are men there wanting all kinds of things.  And wearing black, showing off one's chest is a rather frequent occurrence.

Some are not my thing.  There was a man there who asked me if I ever thought of becoming a horse.  Apparently, he wanted to mate me in horse form.  He was quite polite about it when I told him that no I didn’t want to be a horse.  Another interesting character was a man RPing a priest.  I admit to spending a little time with him to see what his ‘rp’ was about.  I will tell you more about the priest later.  There was a man there who wanted me to let his friend get me pregnant while he watched.  I’ll call him Military man.  He wanted me to insult him and to demean him as his friend was impregnating me.  I would like to say Horse, Priest and Military were the most unusual men I met there yet that would be a lie.
I met a couple nice and sweet men too.  One man, Ken, IMed me that he wanted to find a “one man” woman and settled down with her.  He confessed that he did not seem to be meeting family-oriented women at the clubs he visited, and a friend suggested he try this location.  I hope Ken found someone nice to settle down with in SL.
For me, no judgement here, the most unusual was a half man half demon that is hung like a horse.  He doesn’t bother getting dressed.  Watson, yes, I thought it was a strange name for a man/demon too, made his avi.  Impressive and large, his sole purpose in SL was to spend his time recruiting slaves and other women who wanted to be “breeders”.  He offered to make me a “treasured” pet but I passed on the offer.  There are several men who visit this location who desire to make as many women pregnant as possible.  I never found out why.

One day, not long after I added the HUD, I noticed that I was pregnant.  Just like that, I clicked on the HUD and my status was pregnant.  The only candidates for baby daddy are men wearing the corresponding Mama Allpa male HUD.  The baby daddy?  This is where my story gets funnier.  There were three possible candidates, Priest, Military and an up and comer I will call Deadbeat.    I wasn’t quite sure which it was, you may be impregnated without having sex.  All you need to do is be close to the person and exchange HUD info.  Since I wanted to get pregnant fast I pretty much took any opportunity.  Sometimes proximately, sometimes the old fashioned fun way.  I did not keep track of who and when.  I thought the HUD will tell me who the daddy was.  I was wrong.  To determine baby daddy, the daddy must be within 10 meters of me while I am tested.
The first 10-meter test was for Military man.   I had my fingers crossed for him.  A bit kinky but very nice guy.  He was not “the guy”, the daddy.  I was sure it would be the Priest or the Deadbeat.  It just so happened that I spent time with them both on the day I believed to be the day of conception.  Deadbeat daddy showed up for the test.  As you probably figured out already, Deadbeat turned out to be my baby daddy.  The baby was a boy!  The Priest was disappointed.  An ironic turn of events, the Priest asked me if I would get an abortion, so he could make me pregnant.  At this point I was pretty done with hanging with the studs at main store.
Now that I was pregnant there were things to consider.  To me, the most important was my shape.  My landlady made a nursery for me in my skybox, so I was free to spend my time figuring out these details.  I decided to design my own shape using the measurements on existing shapes.  I also decided to update my shape at each four-week mark.  I learned I was pregnant at 10 weeks so that is where I began.
Now, after the fact, I started reading a bit about SL pregnancy.  I visited a couple clinics.  I wondered what the baby daddy did in this relationship.  Turns out my baby daddy didn’t even IM me once after.  Being industrious, I made #1 Deadbeat Dad signs with his picture and passed them to all my friends.  I had other men step forward offering to RP the daddy role.  I decided to just see what happened.  I sent the baby daddy a present.  A kiosk from marketplace of a book titled “Having a Baby in SL Guidebook”.  I found the best source of information to be mid-wives and doctors at the clinics.  Everyone I spoke to was super friendly.

Clock started, and life goes on in SL.  When I hit my 30th week, I was feeling a bit curious.  Happy with my shape design, I decided to visit the main store location again.  Who was standing there where I met him?  You guessed it; Baby daddy.  He didn’t even notice me there which worked well for me as I didn’t want to continue a relationship with him.  I planned to stay a few minutes.  I wanted to see how people would react to pregnant me.  I was chatted up quite a bit.  Mostly the same kinds of men as before.  Some getting their kink on and some wanting a relationship.
At this point, since I really wasn’t into family life in SL, I started getting bored.  My clothes didn’t fit well, and I was running out of ways to shock and to surprise people.  That had been my main source of fun during the “weeks” of pregnancy.  By shock, I mean showing up at an ex boyfriend’s DJ gig.  He got a kick out of it.  By surprise, I mean just being in SL and pregnant.  People act differently around you.  It was interesting to see how people behaved.  The strangest reaction was when I donned a formal gown with my big round belly and showed up at a popular club.  Suffice to say I have never seen any pregnant women there and I won’t say the club name.

Birth time rolled around quickly after that slow part in the middle.  I wanted a birth partner and Seersha said she would be it.  I picked out a clinic, a birth method and all the extras.  In the end I decided I did not want to simulate birth.  I’m a simple gal.  In the end I just changed my shape back to “normal”.  The baby is nestled in inventory.

Seersha Heart: Thank you for all your energy, Durn.  I feel like you aren’t telling the full story of the people you met at main store.  Care to elaborate?

Durn: Hmmm…I won’t tell details of the people who were nice folks just wanting to experience an SL pregnancy.  I met several of those.  I will say I was surprised at how many men stake out the main store location.

Seersha Heart: Would you do it again?  Get pregnant?

Durn: Anything is possible.  I am not planning it now, but I am like SL.  Things change a lot.

Spotlight on Cumberland City- A virtual City based in Maine, USA- Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

Imagine a place where a global community comes together to roleplay life experiences in a detailed simulated virtual world. That is the definition of Second Life.

We all rezz here to create our own story and experience cultures from all over the world.  Within each of our stories we meet people with their own. We learn from and share our innermost thoughts with each other.  We experience things that we may or may not have the opportunity or courage to do in our real lives. That is what makes SL such a unique timeless place.

One thing we can do here and not in the real world it change our stories at any time, engage in adventures that would require an income of a millionaire or realize our own creativity.  We can build our worlds around us based on our own imaginations or see and play directly in the creativity of others.

No two communities are
the same. Cumberland City is one of many in Second Life where dreams and creativity is shared among the residents. What separates it from the others is the heart and souls of the people who concentrate on making it as realistic as possible. This great community is also a proud supporter of the American Cancer Society - having donated over 150K L$ this year.

This 27 sim community is based on a real community along I-90 in Maine, USA.  With government services such as a Capital building, district court, Department of Children & Family services, houses and businesses,  Cumberland City offers community members the opportunity to start a business and thrive in a SLife where neighbors are friendly, helpful and care about their environment.  Best of all the creator is not absent. She is as immersed in the daily activities just like everyone else who call Cumberland City their virtual home.

The SL Enquirer met up with Traci Gassner , the governor of Cumberland City.

Hi Traci, it is a pleasure to interview you. Can you please share with our readers how you discovered Second Life?

Traci: That’s a fun story…  I have always been involved in IT related things all my life and collaborating with peers globally for work and was in a IRC chat room one night back in January 2007 when one of the people in the chat room discussing some perhaps boring IT stuff says OMG I found this thing called second life it’s like a chat room but your a “Cartoon!” you and be this thing like a character and see others and chat like in a virtual kind of thing…  I was like .. ya ok .. sure..  and got the information logged in made my avatar and was a certain thing in me sparked to life.  An entirely different way to interact using a computer.  I grew up in the computer revolution and finding SL has helped define me and also to help me reach out and help others.

What inspired you to create Cumberland City?

Traci:  I never intended to own a thing quite like Cumberland City.  I stumbled into it more than I set out to create it.  Ive in me tenure in SL taught people to create, build and share things…  I ran into the community role play scene and instantly found it a way to share, help people and help myself.  Several circumstances led me to taking the lead of a community and growing it that I would rather say became circumstances of “fate” and one I embraced with the assistance of very many along the way to “Create” what is now known as Cumberland City.  Its motto is “Unique by it’s people”  Past present and future.

A 27 Sim community is impressive.  It has to be a labor of love for you and your team. Can you tell me about your team and their roles within the Cumberland City community?

Traci:  Goodness, is so many who contribute.  I am more or less just a guidance counselor to what the melting pot we call Cumberland City has become.  The team of builders and managers - the Residents mostly who provide input and ideas is what makes Cumberland City special.  We are not a single “owner” like community who controls all things.   Yes the buck has to stop on my desk but I doubt you will find many who see it that way.  I love and encourage my team and the residents to take up the charge to create what we all share as a common goal.  A inclusive, safe, diverse open minded role play city.

What can visitors expect to experience here?

Traci:  First I would like to think a warm welcome.  The residents here are simply amazing.  I’m biased and would like to think say they are warmest in SL for this genre.  One the imagery as you have seen is welcoming, Cumberland is a very well made quality visual experience that we are constantly working on.  Nothing about this is easy and the community has suffered setbacks but it just comes back stronger and more resolved.  You will find as a visitor here very dedicated team of management and painfully loyal residents who have big hearts and willing to take new people in and help them become Cumberlonians!

A government within Second life may seem intimidating to those who prefer experiencing Second life without a set structure. How would you describe your community and how government plays a role in daily Slife?

Traci:  Good question - Cumberland is amazing to me in how it is a micro democracy that works.  It is very rare an issue actually makes it to my desk as unresolved.  We pride ourselves in fact that most of the time our system functions in a open minded manner.  No system is ever perfect but even with our system of Government and covenants in place people are very free to express and live here with security and a sense that the Cumberland has their best interests in mind.  Those few over the history that fail in seeing that are usually met with applause when they leave.  That may sound tacky but reality is not every place in SL is for everyone but the majority here find our system comforting.

This is a realistic community based on Maine, USA in real life. Is anyone welcome to be part of the community or do you have guidelines for becoming a resident, excluding fictitious character?

Traci:  Cornerstone of Cumberland is diversity.  We are inclusive.  Generally we are a human reality based community.  We are furry friendly and Neko friendly as well.   I would say such things as “super-human” or para-normal will not fit in here by nature of the genre…  Aside from that we are a warm welcoming community.

The Cumberland City community prides itself on family roleplay. What type of amenities aid in the realism of the environment?

Traci:  We have a full menu of City services such as Police, Fire and EMS depts, a hospital, DMV, Court and city government.   We like to role play things out, for instance road work we have a Dept of Transportation to do road projects and when it snows you will see them out with snow plows.  Trash collections, phone service  and soon to be mail delivery system.  We plan weather events and alerts for various role play events.

Do you create community events where families can come together? If so tell us a little about them.

Traci: Absolutely, we have an events staff that sets up a variety of events from casual get togethers to full scale carnivals and festivals.  We will do Holiday events, dances and fun things like paint ball, car shows, fireworks shows, organized shows and impromptu random things and always open to ideas!  Flash mob anyone?

Second life is a constantly changing landscape much like things change in real life. How do you keep your community members actively engaging in the city?

Traci: We make changes in the community as well from seasonal changes to also from time to time taking a moment to recognize things that happen in RL we can all share here in SL - come together and celebrate and mourn even things like a real life community.   The key thing I like is our ability to adapt.  I listen to people and get the team and residents involved and if there is something people want to see and do … by all means will try it.

Cumberland City is a mix of commercial and residential opportunities. Do you currently have homes and business space? If so what do you have available?

Traci:  Oh yes we have plenty of both - we just conducted a remodeling effort to kind of freshen things up and are many shops and homes for residential and commercial.  As many are aware LL just upgraded the prims we have available we just did a rebalance on the cost and prims to give more to our resident as a benefit of that change without trying to cram more parcels for the sake of “profit”  Cumberland City is purely not for profit community.

Jobs are also an important part of sustaining a home and lifestyle in second life. Do you offer your residents job opportunities?

Traci: All of the “jobs” here are purely role play volunteer based aside from some of the managers who get a modest discount - even they however are here purely for the fun of it !

With a mix of adult and child avies, how do you monitor your sims to keep griefers and SL criminals from causing problems within your community?

Traci:  All eyes and ears on deck is the answer.  We have a brilliant base of long term residents and eagle eyes managers and dept heads and some pretty cool systems “watching” things for us to keep an eye on things.  Is a few “skunk works” things that keep our community safe.

With the new year fast approaching. Are there any new projects in the works?

Traci:  Well one is concluding - we are finishing up a massive remodel effort and some of the centerpieces will be set in place by end of the year.  After 1st of year our focus will be full bore into role play - the winter seems to be the time when the role players come inside and Cumberland is perhaps the best canvas in SL for reality based community role play - certainly the largest.

Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers about Cumberland City?

Traci:  Cumberland City is kind of like …  a community that has seen a lot a of up and downs and challenges but it fights back and its people is what matters.  The spirit of the City is what matters.  I am simply a keeper of accounts..  I even removed the role of “Owner” from the titles here.  I am not the owner of Cumberland - the people are.  I am responsible of course for it financially but what makes this place with is “you”  - if you want want role play come here and make it happen - your story.. your ideas are welcome in Cumberland City and fresh faces are something we embrace..  the long term residents here for whom I love dearly will help mentor anyone who comes here looking for a reality based role play community.   I am a firm believer in that people will often not recall what you did specifically in SL but they will recall how you made them feel and we sincerely want people to feel welcome here - that’s my vision and “our” desire.

Thank you for adding your creativity to Second Life and sharing your time with us. We wish you and Cumberland city all the best.

Avie Poll: Which Prim Baby is Popular and Why?- Debby Sharma Reporting...

Photography Credits: 4m my Eyes

Lisa Weeden said, “Being a family means you are part of something wonderful. It means you will love and be loved for the rest of your life”.

Virtual families are no less, less bonded. VR families have parents, grand parents, god parents, uncles and aunts; an array of sometimes annoying cousins and next to kin like brothers and sisters who share a bond, not by blood but by sheer love. Love is bond that makes them stronger than any other bond; which am sure you sure you will agree too. Families can either be made up of members who are real people behind avatars, roleplaying to be child, toddler, baby, teenager or even an adult; or prim babies created by residents to make the family roleplaying more realistic and fun.

There are a number of prim babies ranging from interactive babies, wandering babies to non-interactive babies. The following are a few examples under each category:(*Note:The prices mentioned are only for the babies. The nursery items are not included. It also excludes the things that baby needs like the diaper bag, bottles, diapers, baby bath, etc.)

Interactive babies:
  • Zoobys = L$ 5000
  • Lyuboff =  L$ 699 (new born) L$1999 (age 8 to 36 months)
  • Funsies = L$ 2500
  • Baby Tatu = L$ 3000 (previous version) L$ 900 (Lite version)
  • PooterBilt = L$ 1000
  • Sexy Mamas = L$ 3000
  • Latin Babies = L$5000
Non-Interactive babies:
  • Prim baby = L$ 300 (this is the hospital charges only)
  • Kitten Krescendo = Free
  • Googoo Babies = L$ 1599
  • Sexy Mamas = L$ 700
Wandering babies:
  • Spumelogy Studio

A few adoption centers have their own prim babies like Baby mania (https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/71359). The adoption centers may choose the kind of baby they deliver, however, the parent/s may switch the baby they would like to have before delivery.

The next big question is which to adapt or have. This decision purely rests on you. But if you are going to decide by which is the most popular, here are a few opinion polls. The questions asked were:
  1. Which is their most favorite prim baby or which prim baby according to them is the most popular and why?Do they have it?
  2. Would they prefer a baby avatar (an actual person role playing behind the avatar as a  kid) or a prim baby (the one made of mesh or prim)?
  3. At what age do you think, one should adopt a baby avatar for a complete family roleplay experience?

Photography Credits: Facebook

Joycieselphie Larimore: I think it's the Zooby's because for me it looks more realistic. I can feel like a parent and it looks cute too. Yes, I have one. I would like a prim baby because I don't like an adult person portraying a baby. In Zooby', I love their script as they can grow and it is always available when I want them to be with me. I want to take care of them and see them grow. I don't need a baby who can talk. Prim babies are more realistic for me if I can see them just crawling and play with blocks. As of now, I don't see any prim baby that are much better than Zooby'. Maybe if I find one then why not try it too.

Radiance Snowpaw: Oh goodness, I honestly have no clue with that one. I think Toodoodle is a prim baby right? I'm not up to date with the SL prim/mesh babies. I don't, I think I had one like 4 or 5 years ago but I honestly don't remember where I got it from. I've just recently come back to SL on a full time basis so prim and/or avi babies will be in my future. I think you should be at least a year into SL before you even think about starting a SL family. I think that's enough time to really get to know what SL is about and get a feel for the people you're hanging with.

Photography Credits: Facebook

Shalanie Tann: I like the Zooby's and I think it is the most popular because it is the most realistic baby in roleplaying experience. Zooby babies work with a large variety of babies also. For me, I want baby avataria because I want to interact with the baby; talk, play, feel the love that he or she can give to me. It is fun and more real. The toddler is a cute age to adapt. In my other alt account, my live-in partner already had a prim baby before we met.

Photography Credits: Facebook

Srikandi Lennier: I think on-duty is popular among prim babies because it's cheap. I would prefer a baby avatar cause we can interact and it would feel more real. Among prim babies, I like the Zooby, others I don't know. I only have 2 on-duty and zooby babies. I think the right age to adapt is from first born. It is wonderful.

Photography Credits: TheGridWorld Resident

TheGridWorld: My favorite among prim babies are the Zooby and the Lyuboff. Although, I think, I like Zooby better as I think they are cute. I do not have a baby yet but in future I think I will like to have a Zooby newborn. The age to have a baby avatar would be when the Zooby has reached it’s maximum age and I would like the baby to grow, talk and move on with life and have a family of her own. I guess, I like to have son-in-laws and daughter-in-laws too.

Among, the number of babies that have been developed over the years by awesome creators, Zooby by far has won almost every heart. In the words of Carrie Tatsu, the creator, from an interview I had taken for my blog, 4m my Eyes (http://4m-my-eyes.blogspot.in/2014/09/behind-scenes-success-story-of-zoobys.html), she said, "I think our success was due to the babies functionality and its development over time. We never forced anyone to pay to grow their baby, but if they cared for their baby, it would grow and learn and earn tokens for free toys. So the incentive was if the owner did these things then a reward was provided." Not only among the customers/ end users for its interactivity, Zooby' have grabbed the market of the sellers selling clothing, furniture and accessories for zooby babies. As Carrie Tatsu, points out, that it is impossible for a single creator-cum-seller to meet the increasing demands in the market. This is where the residents who are also the sellers come in selling and providing wide range of options for clothing, furniture and accessories for the end users. Eventually, it all sums up and helps it in making it popular.

Irrespective, of people selecting, prim babies or baby avatar, one thing is constant, the look and the interactivity between them and the baby is very crucial to everyone. It is that, that makes virtual living and experience with a baby, more real and close to the heart for families across the grid.

Family Roleplaying Communities In Second Life- Nena Dreadlow Reporting.

Family role play has become very popular in Second Life. It seems many residents are seeking to belong to a group and share in fun and activities. The foundation for family role play begins with a bond between couples who wish to expand their families with the addition of babies and extended families members. There are numerous growing families in Second Life and communities catering to their needs.

What is a family Role play community, what things do you do and what are the popular communities in Second Life?

Giano Estates New England Family Sim Community Role Play

Giano Estates is one of the top family role-playing communities in Second Life. Once you enter the sim it is like you're entering a real life town.  Giano Estates has beautiful homes for rent. They offer homes from 2 to 4 bedrooms. The estates also has lots of things to do including going to a Bowling alley, movie theater, a car wash  and shopping at the grocery store.  Residents can role play as a policeman,  postal worker and even  a doctor! Giano Estates has expanded to 9 sims due to family growth.  If you are looking for a place to raise your family, we would suggest touring this wonderful  family rp sim.

Olrich Estates

Once you enter Olrich Estates you will be in the downtown area which has a job bank and Rental office.  The downtown streets are lined with lots of shops, a hospital and gas station.
Olrich Estates also has homes to rent as well as apartments.  As I was walking around I could see people talking, hanging out and family role-playing. It was fun to watch and see how they interact.  There is so much to see and do here. I would recommend that you take a tour. You might even want to make your home here

Belleview Estates

Belleview Estates is a family friendly community.  Upon entering Belleview Estates you will come across the town hall which has a list of houses for rent and even a unemployment board. The estates also offer a Life store, gas station and a adoption agency.  The sim is aso surrounded by water for families who want to raise their children with ocean views. Take a tour today.

Pleasant Hope Estates

Pleasant Hope Estates is where I call home. It is zooby and child friendly. The town hall is the place to go to find out all the information you need about activities, rentals and jobs. The staff is very friendly and helpful.  I love living here because there are lots of things to do. Come see for yourself.

Greensboro Estates

Greenboros Estates is a tree lined community with a beautiful waterfall in the background.  Their motto is “Family is first” and you can tell that they mean it. If you're looking for a quiet place to call home then this might be the place for you. Greenboros Estates even has an adoption agency for couples looking to expand their families.  If you are looking to add to your family then you should check it out. I must say I was very impressed with this community and enjoyed looking around.

There are of many other family role playing sims in second life but these communities stand out to me. I love the fact that you can be part of and raise a family in the same way you would in real life.  It is so wonderful to visit these sims and see in all the things that you can participate in.

If you are looking for a great family friendly place to live then you must check out these locations.

All in The SL Family: A Close Look At Second Life Families- Rere Sandalwood Reporting…

One might think they are seeing double upon looking at DOUBLE TROUBLE Elliott Lafeyette and Rockford Ewing on the Stinger Night Club Dance floor.
But blink again, and upon a closer look, you will realize that what you see is not a hallucination…because what you are really seeing are identical SL Twins!

According to Daph Wallace, a hostess that not only works at Stingers, but at an array of clubs and venue, this trio is actually part of a set of triplets. “They are [not only] triplets, they have a brother too,” she continues as she kindly greets Stinger patrons, “…and they are fine as hell...”

Yet physical looks aside, seeing this part of a family trio can potentially make an SL patron ponder on the importance of family, especially in SL.  In fact, if one digs deep enough, one can find more than triplets and siblings in SL.  After all, there are families in SL that not only consist of husbands and wives, but can include prim babies, SL children, aunts, uncles and even college age children.  Further, these family member may not only function as family in SL, but may extend on into real life as well.

Blood Related

For instance, MrsStormLove, manager of Seduction Estates, has successfully joined forces with her brother, Seduction Estate owner Mr. Jazzy Melody in the creation of a SIM dedicated to providing merchandising opportunities to creators, as well as a venue for clubbing and other adult-oriented fun. MrsStormLove contends, “In SL you don’t ever know who you can trust, and you may meet people who you can call family…but the truth is can you?”
MrsStormLove in a sense, answers her own question by aligning herself with individuals who are also related to her in real life.  As Mr. Jazzy Melody explains, “I was invited to SL by my [real life] brother and my sister-in-law MrsStormLove.” RL relationships withstanding, the relationship between MrsStormLove and Mr. Jazzy Melody is a testament to the power intrinsic in SL because they not only love one another enough to hang out in SL, but they have expanded upon that love by creating a SIM that is a reflection of their sensual taste and family-oriented style. To affirm this, MrsStormLove states, “There is a show of respect and love in knowing that you have someone you can count on that is true family and  who will do the same for you….someone who values your opinion, and who sees the person behind the avi.”
To echo MrsStormLove’s sentiment, Mr. Jazzy Melody says, “I have love for my family on different levels...My r/l Bro is my blood and my sister-in-law…I love her like she is my blood sister...and we run my business together.”

While there are RL families that also function as SL Family, there are other families who not only met on SL, but have decided to align themselves as family within the game.  One such family is the Akan Tribe.  Though PilarGomez acts as the tribe’s matriarch, the true behind the scenes leader is KWAME ANNAN αţεŁŁ (maxwellsamson).  In fact, αţεŁŁ is keenly responsible for the creation of the Akan Tribe, and has dedicated himself to adding even more SL Family to his fold by recently partnering with RAINY Cheri.  αţεŁŁ explains that the creation of his SL family started from bonding with another person from the same country as he is from.  He continues, ”[Specifically, I was] reading a profile of a woman...I then talked with her [and found that] she was from Africa too and after a week of talking, she asked me if I would like to be her brother. I agreed because I thought it would be great to have a sister in-world.”

With the start of that one sister, αţεŁŁ now has a huge family that consist of a partner, three sisters that include Mâɱâsiтà (pilargomez), Pòsh Quèèn LIU.JO (dinnate), and ƈɦǟɨ'ռǟ աɦɨȶɛ αţεŁŁ (nettaboo711), Aunt Şε αd Ѡit Iէ αţεŁŁ (toomuch4u2), daughter Ameyo  ANNAN  αţεŁŁ, and nieces Lisette qorchess Gomez (lisette.seranno), Qᴜᴇᴇɴ LIU.JO Dᴀᴜɢʜᴛᴇʀ (ttrane) and Яazzyвoo αţεŁŁ ɦɛǟȶ ůςιαηợ (crazzyb3lla).
Though KWAME ANNAN αţεŁŁ’s family is growing by leaps and bounds every day, αţεŁŁ affirms that he not only has great family and great friends, but that “it is all about da lovin that God gave us to share ay.”

Sharing the love in SL, Husband and Wife Style
Like it is possible to create an SL Family, it is also possible to find real love in SL…a love that can lead to the creation of an SL family that extends into RL. This possibility is a reality for partners Cinn Hansome and JA Hansome, who function as both a RL and SL couple. In SL, the couple runs Ocean Pointe, a family role play SIM that includes a clinic and family-based housing.  As Cinn Hansome explains, “I am a nurse in rl [but am] off of work on disability and thought it would be fun and challenging to open a realisitc clinic in sl...I find so many people here want a real pregnancy experience [and] for a myriad of reasons...I do my best to help...[consequently] the family evolved from there…”
This family evolution has led to not only love with JA Hansome, but has led to a real life comradery with Cinn’s SL sister, Toni Stickfigure. “I have known Toni Stickfigure for two years,” Cinn Hansome states, ”…and I met my SL sister in rl and we went on vacation together and plan on it again…”
Yet with the building of these family-based SL relationships, the biggest challenge can, according to Cinn Hansome can be “Time and Distance.” She continues, “Waiting on someone to come online [can be hard]…wanting to be together but having a computer between you [can be hard too].

JA Hansome adds, “Misunderstanding is always a huge threat in SL because of the lack of real physical interaction. Without seeing body language, hearing voice inflection and the constant threat of gossip, "drama" can always be a huge problem.”
Though this is the case, it is always best to rely on RL understanding and tolerance, as echoed by Mr. Jazz Melody.  He goes on, “Family don’t always agree...we all have different opinions but we sit and work it out together…In R/L i have 12 siblings not including myself...and we have learned its ok to agree to disagree. We are mature and love each other enough to sit and talk about until we come up with a solution. We have a bond that cannot and will not be broken...people have tested us on many levels but we always come out loving each other that much more.”

With a bond that extends from SL to RL, it seems as if a stronger bond is created across the board, and what a blessing that is!
