Spotlight on Tillen- A Rapidly Rising Rock Star from Russia in Second Life- Lanai Jarrico Reporting...

Tillen’s  repertoire includes hits from well known bands such as Scorpions, Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Deep Purple and Rainbow,  She is currently and has been performing in rock bands around Moscow for the past 15 years.  Since her very first show, she has captured every listener's attention and has already a very popular following.  This is a performer that is no stranger to delivering a stellar performance in both worlds.

Interview with Tillen (Интервью с Тиллен)

Lanai: Hi Tillen, welcome to Second Life! How did you discover this virtual world?

Translation:

Tillen: In the midst of the pandemic, playing live concerts, of course, became impossible. Then my friend Rudi (rydut.mildor) told me: "Don't worry, you can play live concerts in a computer game!" I then laughed, but decided to try

Lanai: Could you tell our readers a little about yourself, your favorite genre and your experience in the music industry?

Translation:
Tillen:   I have always loved to sing, since childhood, but I have never studied it - this is a matter of life, one might say, a vocation. When I was 15, I started my own rock band. I have always liked classical rock and heavy metal, but in general I am a music lover and I just love music in any form, the main thing is that the song is beautiful and melodic. For 15 years now I have been performing in RL at various concert venues. I have 4 full-length albums with my previous band and a debut album with my own current band. Now we are writing our second album!

Lanai: Second Life is an amazing place that allows people from all over the world to create , interact and share their talents with others. Would you say SL is an extension of your real life? How has it helped you?

Translation:
Tillen: Second Life as a continuation of my musical life is definitely YES. This is a new experience, new impressions, and a real drive, just like at live concerts in real life. Hell, I get excited before every gig in Second Life as if I were alive in there!

Lanai: In your short time in Second Life, what do you think of the community?
Second Life?

Translation:  People here are sympathetic and kind, it is very pleasant to speak in front of those who are really interested!

Lanai: Music inspires. It has the power to evoke emotions and nostalgia. What does music mean to you? Do you feel the same rush as you do performing in real life?

Translation:
Tillen:  Yes, the same drive and courage as in real life! Several times there were cases when during the shows in second life I actually cried.

Lanai: How often do you perform in SL? Do you have a performance calendar?

Translation:
Tilllen: I perform almost every day and I like it, when I am not performing, I start to miss concerts a lot! - https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0/embed?src=4cid9r0ghhhnpvqvommdmasehk@group.calendar.google.com&ctz=Europe/Moscow

Lanai: How can venue owners book you for a show?

Tillen:

Translation:
Tillen: Please contact me direct for bookings :)

Lanai: Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

Translation:
Tillen: I would like to remind you that Second Life, no matter how exciting it is, is still your SECOND life. This is a beautiful, interesting, informative, but first of all, GAME. It was created in order to relax and enjoy, since we all have enough difficulties in our first, real life. Don't forget about it, friends! I would be glad to see you at my shows!
Many thanks to you Lanai for the interview and to my dear friend Wolfie Moonshadow for this opportunity, help and support.

Lanai's Diary: Entry 4,958- 2020 Can Go F%$@ itself! Do something for your country and Wear a @&%$# mask!

This isn't a politically motivated statement nor is it feeding into the overwhelming news of this pandemic and how it is affecting not only our communities but the world as a whole. If there is one thing that needs to be said it is COMPLACENCY NEEDS TO STOP! Whether you believe it is “just a flu” or the news is "overcooking" the situation and only reporting the worst case scenarios, there is in fact a global pandemic happening right now and people need to take a moment and realize the only way we can try to get this virus under control is to abide by the precautions put into place by our governments and community leaders. Like Tyrone would say....F*ck all that “I can’t breath” shit about wearing masks or the entitled Karens and Davids who feel it is their right not to wear a mask. F *ck You too!

They need to STFU just like I overheard my now ex boss say about me right before the lockdowns when I made it clear in the office that Covid was a serious thing coming and I was worried. 3 days later we were on lockdown for a month and a half. I live in Pennsylvania and the area I am in just reported a 3,000 covid case spike. The highest since the start of the pandemic.

Here we are over 8 months later and people are still catching covid and or dying in record numbers all over the country and the world. As of today,  there are a million cases in Texas alone!

Hundreds of thousands sick or dead and yet people are still being complacent. Wearing masks under their noses, standing at bus stops with no regard for the person next to them who is trying to protect themselves and their families. Others walking around convinced  this is a hoax. Still having gatherings and acting like they are immune.  Of course, people want to get back to living their lives but realize one thing. This is the new normal and will continue to be if we continue on this path of not taking this more seriously.

It is time to wake up and realize we will not fight this pandemic half assed and EVERYONE needs to put an effort into protecting themselves and their families as well as the people they come in contact with if they even give a rats ass about anybody else.

The sooner we can put down the political, entitled and ignorant bullshit and use common sense the sooner we can begin to get back to the things we once loved. I’m sitting here writing this worried because at work, two people tested positive and are out with symptoms and I JUST TESTED POSITIVE! The past couple of days I had a fever, headaches and sweats.  Should I be worried?  All I’m thinking about is my family. Since I was exposed, did I expose them? Could this get bad? I don’t know what to think. All I know is sh*t just got real. At what point do we all realize we are ALL vulnerable and will be for a very long time if we don’t get our sh*t together.

Lanai’s Diary: How would you have handled a Bull in a china shop situation?

The craziest thing happened yesterday and I wanted to share it in hope I can get some insight  from SLE fans on what could have been done differently or how you would have handled a situation like this.

In the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic many are staying home and limiting themselves to the people they come in contact with. It is becoming the norm for many people, especially those who work outside of the home. At the end of a long day, people just want to come home, shower, have dinner and relax to repeat the cycle the next day,

So, it is Monday evening. I just finished up dinner with the family and settled on the back deck to just chill and soak up the tail end of summer. I look through the sliding glass door to see a complete stranger waddling her way through my foyer, kitchen and to the back door like a bull in a china shop where she opens it and drunkenly asks where Marie was. Stumped by this display of a stranger's sloppy drunk debacle. My husband got up from his seats asking who she was.  I followed behind as he ushered her back out the front door. Mind you she was not wearing a mask, nor was she coherent enough to realize she just walked into the wrong house.  She reached for her car keys and attempted to get in her car which was in our driveway about 6 inches from the garage door. You can see she clearly hit a curb as her front passenger side tire was low on air.

The girl looked in her early to mid 20’s. My husband told her if she tried to drive off he was calling the cops. That was enough to make her sober up for a second and plead for him not to do that. He asked her to call someone to come pick her up.

By this time, I was on the front porch with my two adult kids who looked completely bewildered at this drunk woman swaying in the driveway. About 10 minutes passed by the time she was able to make out the numbers in her phone and call…. Her mother. I could hear her mother's voices freaking out but could not make out what she was saying. The woman then tried to hand the cellphone to my hubs who was holding his hand out telling her to keep her distance and put it on speaker phone.  He went on to provide our address to the woman on the other end.

Within 15 minutes an SUV pulls up at the edge of the driveway and a man walks out. It must have been her father who seemed to know exactly what to do as if this wasn't the first time he has bailed her out of a situation like this. Her mother was very thankful to us for making sure she did not get back in her car and revealed this was not the first time this happened. Apparently her daughter wrecked her previous car and has no memory of it.

The girl's father got in the car with his daughter. You can hear him scolding her through the closed window as he pulled out the driveway. Her mother got back in her SUV and followed them off. We watched until they disappeared around the curve of the road.

We all went inside to disinfect wherever she might have touched and feeling like WTF just happened.
After thinking about it, I wondered if we made the right decision. Hubs didn't want to call the cops because he felt this young person needed help from her parents and knew that being arrested for trespassing on top of fines and a possible DUI would not be the best solutions.

I have no tolerance for drunk drivers or alcoholics. Period. They destroy lives and play the victim when their whole lives fall apart. They put the people who love them thru hell.  Some families and friends had enough of the bullshit and gave up on trying to help them.

My husband handled it like a father who just wanted to make sure the girl was safe and left it in the parents hands to get the girl some help.

Me on the other hand wanted to call the police and get the ball rolling on giving this girl a wake up call.  Sometimes people need to hit rock bottom with no choice but to rise up and do something about their lives.

In my mind, this is a person who could do this again and  potentially kill someone being on the road in that state. This is someone who has no regard for herself or others. Not to mention coming into my home during a pandemic without a mask. Should I worry that this careless person could have been exposed out there and brought it into my safe place? I don’t feel any remorse for a person that has threatened my sense of safety.

How would you have handled the situation? Share your comments below.

SLE Scoop: Did you know Wolfie Moonshadow has a brother who sings in RL and is doing big things? Check him out and share with your friends!

Second Life never ceases to amaze me when I come across tidbits of awesome news that connects us whether it be in Second or the real world.

Recently Wolfie Moonshadow who just celebrated 10 years in Second Life, revealed in The Wolf Pack group that he has a brother doing big things in RL. SLE has known Wolfie since his virtual beginnings as a wide eyes talented noob with high energy and drive to share his passion for music. Today he ranks in the top best entertainers in Second Life.
Wolfie’s announcement came as a surprise and SLE just had to share it with SLE fans!

Jesse De La Rosa is not in Second Life but let's try to get his attention and maybe he might bring his talent to the virtual stage. Jesse is the lead singer of a great new Gibraltarian rock band called "Escape"; boasting an array of great musicians with Manuel Bonavia (Guitars), Nathan McCarthey (Guitars), Martin Figueras (Drums) & Mark Downs (Bass). Wolfie tells us, all the members of the band are very talented experienced musicians in Gibraltar and are extremely excited with the launch of their first single, 'Holy War' (co-written by Jesse De La Rosa). It has been well received by fans and been played on a few radio stations in Europe and a couple in the US.

Last year, they had an opportunity to perform on the Main Stage of MTV's Gibraltar Calling festival as one of the local opening acts to Enrique Iglesias, Liam Gallgher and Rick Astley. This festival was televised and then aired all around Europe so it had already got them some interest and bookings at festivals in Germany and Russia. All their work and launch of their first single was halted due to COVID but are doing all they can to get their single out so everyone can have a listen.

Check him out and feel free to share with your friends. Let's get this band heard!

AVIE POLL: IF YOU ARE MARRIED IN REAL LIFE, AND PARTNER IN SL, IS IT CONSIDERED CHEATING? - JOSH (THOMAS1 BELLIC)

So...this question has been asked at least once, and probably a couple dozen times, by every married guy or gal shortly after setting pixelated foot on the SL Grid. In keeping with SLE’s desire to remain relevant to the population we serve, we thought it would be interesting to make this ubiquitous question the subject of this month’s SLE Poll.  This proved to be a particularly easy question to ask, but difficult to get answers. Almost universally, whenever I posed the question, people had an opinion, but very few were willing to share it. So, My hat’s off to those intrepid few who dared to answer, and even more so to those who wished to be identified with their answer. So then...with that in mind….Let the Games Begin!

When asked, “If you are married in Real Life, and partner in SecondLife, is it cheating?, the first respondent had a very thoughtful answer.

Anonymous, SL Resident, (9 years 11 months; 3650 days)

“I feel my partner in sl just adds more enrichment to my real life.  Perhaps in many ways it fill in little little holes that even a happy marriage can have.  I have a very happy rl marriage, and my adventures in sl bleed out into my rl marriage. My exploration of bondage has lead to me exploring that with my husband, who was eager to take part.  He must wonder and realize what I may be doing in sl, but he knows I am happy and continue to make him happy. I in no way have a partner in sl to replace what I have in rl. Its a balance one has to be mature enough to engage in and have a big enough heart for, to keep that way.”

Another respondent was equally circumspect.

Lora B. , SecondLife Resident, (12 years 8 months; 4643 days)

“I am happy to tell you my answer....  SL is an alternate existence, we can live by the same compass we use in RL or we can treat this world the way some people treat a video game.... there are video games where you engage in war and pretend to kill people... and video games where you pretend to steal things... I think those people are not truly murderers or thieves.... any more than the married people who are partnered here are unfaithful.... I dont agree with people who believe any division of the heart or mind away from a lawful spouse is infidelity...”

The next two responders brought a unique perspective to the question, since they are actually a RL married couple, as well as SL partners.

Kale Rayne, DJ, Owner Teaser's Lounge & Den (8 years 4 months; 3052 days)

“We are married in both RL and SL Delilah and I. To answer the question, I state this: I encourage her to play at her choosing whether I am present or not. The only thing I ask is that she tell me of her adventures if I am not present or online. She has told me every time therefore she is not cheating on me since I encourage her to play. Our relationship is defined as a Stag and Vixen whereas she may have different lovers and I do not touch any other woman , at times I may watch or even join in if all are willing. Now if at anytime she hides her adventures to me then yes that is cheating, but the trust I have in her is what she cherishes most . We have been together for 8 years plus in SL and she has never cheated.”

Delilah Rayne, Hostess, Co-Owner Teaser's Lounge & Den,  (8 years 11 months; 3270 days)

“No it is not cheating if your RL partner knows about it and is okay with it.  If its done behind your RL partners back and they are not aware then yes its considered cheating in our opinion.

This next couple were also in complete agreement

Richh Devin,  Builder of Dreams, Club Owner (11 years 10 months; 4345 days)
Alexxxa Devin) SL DJ and Hostess  (9 years 5 months; 3447 days)

“As long as both are on same page about SL, then no, it is most definitely NOT cheating.   Communication is key in both worlds.”

This next answer come from one who was holding one of those Magic 8-Balls.  She repeated my question for the benefit of the ball, and responded accordingly with a very reasonable and straightforward  response.

Hunnydumpling  O'Magah, SL Resident (8 years 7 months; 3140 days)

“After consulting my oracle I believe that partnering someone is cheating while just screwing them is not. TYVM”

While the responders answered some variation of the “it’s not cheating” theme, there was one particularly outspoken proponent of the opposite view.

Lisa Icandia,  Renaissance Woman, (9 years 2 months; 3364 days)

“Of course it is cheating unless you have lost all morality from sight. You are emotionally cheating on your real life partner. She/He may be sexually uninspired or fat or old but you're married. You are giving laughter, joy, fun, understanding and time to a total stranger who is a well made and sexy cartoon and is only made of pixel dust. And 9.5 times out of 10 it will end in one of you leaving SL or blocking the other person or cheating on that avatar along with your real life partner. But we ignore that it's cheating, don't we, because we love the thrill of the chase and we love feeling loved and as if we are young and beautiful and viable. There are no real obligations in here to mow the lawn or cook or clean house or bathe or go to work each day so we can always be charming and perfect spouses in SL even though we are not in real life. It's ALL an illusion!”

Often times when I asked a potential respondent, several answered that they did not feel comfortable answering the question, but would love to read the final poll results and asked that they be notified when it went to press.

S  male, (4 years 8 months; 1727 days)

“ummmm...I suspect if you are married in RL and partnered here the odds are that you are going to say no to cheating but I look forward to seeing the results.”

So there you have it folks...as many different answers as there were individuals who answered.  So then. What do YOU think? Leave a comment.

NOTRE DAME AFLAME! (SL) ART IMITATES (RL) LIFE – JOSH (THOMAS1 BELLIC) REPORTING.

SecondLife residents who have been here for any length of time have read, usually in someone’s profile, words to the effect of “Remember:  Behind every avatar is a Real Person. Handle with care”.  We are encouraged to remember the connection between real people and their pixelated renderings.
But are we not also reminded on occasion to remember the connection between Real World events and their pixelated renderings as well?  Just as how we direct and control pixelated avatars can illicit real world passion and emotions, so also, the way we treat renderings of certain revered places and things can also illicit powerful emotions.  Case in point: The recent tragic fire that ravaged the 900-year-old Cathedral of Notre Dame.

Construction on this historic monument on an island in the Seine River in Paris, France took 182 years, from 1163 to 1345.   The near destruction of that same artifice took a mere 15 hours. Later, the President of France announced that this venerable structure nearly two centuries in the making, would be rebuilt in five years.
On April 15, 2019 a bishop at the cathedral of Notre Dame noticed a fire coming from the rear roof top.  The news of the fire rocked the world.  People across Europe and around the world referred to Notre Dame as the “Heart of Europe”.  Investigators would later learn that the fire had been started either by electrical wiring in the forest of electronics used to operate the bells in the bell tower, or by cigarettes smoked by contractors doing restoration work on the historic structure.   Either way, this landmark that had stood the test of time for nearly a millennium, was now in flames, and a shocked world watched in horror as the black smoke darkened the Paris sky.

The residents of SL were not immune to the consequences of this destruction.  Many flocked to the Paris 1900 Sim and stood in front of the replica of the Cathedral of Notre Dame.
In the early hours of the fire, the people who gathered in SL were supportive of each other and of their beloved landmark.  News was shared from RL residents of Paris. Pictures and stories were relayed from those standing on St. Louis Island.  The pictures were heart breaking as all of Paris stood by watching.  Residents were notified early on that several historical items had been evacuated unharmed. It wasn’t long however, before griefers attempted to ridicule the horrific events.  Later, the builder of the SL Notre dame Cathedral tried to replicate Real World events, and he was chastened by many on the crowd for doing so. A sample of local chat will help you understand the depth of sentiment surrounding this catastrophe.

[11:52:58] Observer 1:  Good news!  Eight of the iconic copper statues are safe.  They have been removed. That is some relief, at least.
[11:53:15] Observer 2: Yes.... they are working hard to save the art work… brave men and women.
[11:53:44] Observer 3: Priceless art work
[11:55:23] Observer 4: I am not a religious man; I have no religion.  But I am very sorry for all the people of France and all the people of the Catholic religion.
[11:55:38] Observer 1: This is more about history than about religion

In SL, there have been several replicas of Paris over the years.  Some depicted a modern-day Paris; others paid historical homage.  The one with the most traffic in SL currently is “Paris 1900”, an elaborately constructed rendition that closely mirrors what the “City of Lights” must have looked like in its heyday when Notre Dame was a mere 555 years old.
Many of the residents who stood in the SL Notre Dame courtyard offered words of support and unity:
[12:04:56] (Observer 5): I pray for our church. Even though I am not from France, Notre Dame is the heart of Europe.
[12:05:13] (Observer 1): It is one of the hearts of western civilization
[12:25:52] (Observer 5): Tonight, we are ALL French.

Not all visitors were sympathetic to the situation however.  The Cathedral was soon attacked in-world as griefers descended onto the SIM.  Two of them set their avis on fire and hurled themselves to the front of the building.  A different kind of fire erupted down the peak of the roof set from just beneath the surface.  The crowd went wild;

[12:32:42] (Observer 6) shouts: Can you please extinguish the fire?  It is painful enough to see it burning in RL!
[12:33:08] (Observer 13) shouts: YES PLEASE!
[12:33:26] Observer 8): Extinguish the flames!  Please!
[12:35:02] (Observer 9): Part of the fire is an avatar. Can it be derendered?
[12:35:16] (Observer 11): Too much disruption here!
[12:36:57] (Observer 9) shouts: It is a griefer!
[12:37:24] (Observer 12) shouts: I live in Paris, and was born in Paris.  It is the French who started this f###ing fire, and they must put it out quickly!
[12:37:51] (Observer 13) shouts: No, I spoke to the owner of the Sim who added the fire.  He says he did it so people can see and understand what really happened.  Pffftt…As if we are not perfectly capable of following the news. We come here for hope and prayers, and NOT “Real Life Part 2!!!”
[12:46:58] (Observer 13): It shows a profound lack of respect. People that have the ability to log into SL, also have the ability to see this on the news. We don't need to see it here too. People came for prayer and hope, not “Horror Movie Part 2”.

The crowd was incensed and growing more and more agitated; people were yelling at each other; arguments began to break out around the square in front of the Cathedral.  When the crowd learned that the fires on the roof were added by the owner of the SIM, (I’ll call him Claude), the tense atmosphere became riotous;
[12:43:50] (Observer 14) shouts: Claude owns the fire animation at the roof!
[12:49:05] (Observer 12) shouts: HEY PEOPLE! Claude is the owner of the Cathedral.  Since HE is burning the cathedral, should we go elsewhere???
[12:50:42] (Observer 12) shouts: Claude! You don't deserve our presence!!
[12:50:48] (Observer 16) shouts: Claude is the co-owner of Paris 1900 and the builder of Notre Dame Cathedral! Please respect his decisions!
On an individual basis, several people, offended by the pixelated flames, chose simply to derender the griefers and the flames coming from the roofline.  Others in the crowd rallied around “Claude’s” decision to put the flames up, and suggested that people leave if they did not support his choice or took offense by his actions.
[12:45:37] (Observer 17) shouts: We need to show love and respect for our French family.
[12:45:59] (Observer 18) shouts: THANK YOU SO MUCH, [Observer 17]!
Of the many fine tributes that came in over the following days, perhaps one of the most heartfelt was drawn by an artist who was particularly impacted by the fire.  The CNN website, https://www.cnn.com/world/live-news/notre-dame-fire/index.html at 12:27 p.m. ET, April 16, 2019, posted the following statement and artwork:
“As Notre Dame Cathedral burned, Cristina Correa Freile channeled her own emotion by imagining how the church's most famous fictional denizen — its hunchbacked bell ringer — might have responded to the calamity.”

Author’s Note:  Due to the sensitivity surrounding the devastation of Notre Dame Cathedral, rather than foment further distress among those present, the names in this article have been changed to preserve the anonymity of the speakers.
