CAN SECOND LIFE RELATIONSHIPS REALLY WORK? – Camury Reporting

“Virtual relationships” is the subject of interest for many people. I believe that nobody enters this virtual environment just to be alone. In a certain way, everybody wants to meet other people and establish some kind of relationship, even if it’s a temporary one.

Talking to some friends I realized that most of them keep some kind of relationship in their Second Life. Some of those are really happy, healthy and permanent.
The Second life is an environment where we can keep in touch with people from different cultures all over the world. Virtual relationships just happen, one way or another, as soon as we meet different people. Some people get emotionally involved. It just naturally happens, even if we don’t want to. Many of us get so involved in those relationships that it starts affecting our real life. I know some couples, who with some time together, passed through the Second Life barriers and had some contact in real life.

In another conversation with my friends, they told me that the things they most like to do when they’re online are: meeting new people (especially of the opposite sex), talking, exploring, dating and even virtual sex. For the majority of men and women the pleasure and seduction are the best things in SL.  Many consider SL a great place to learn about human interactions and experimenting with fantasies they may not feel confident or able to try in the real world. I find this concept very interesting.  When I was exploring the grid, I saw some unusual events, which we may never see in real life.

For example, I saw a man and a little cat girl purring and flirting in the open chat. I also saw a beautiful lonely elf girl, waiting for someone to interact with.

I am also curious to observe people being able to fulfill their fantasies and fetishes in a variety of ways.

The question is in all these scenarios is, what actually works in a virtual relationship?

After some long talks with my friends I realized that relationships, the successful ones, are the ones that are based on understanding each other’s differences and the limitations in having a virtual relationship.

The most important thing is that our real life experience on this subject can’t be applied in virtual relationships. We can even see some people making the same real life mistakes in second life. It’s like the famous quote: “Wherever you go, there you are”.

Mutual respect, caring, complicity and most important the positive vibes, the willingness to be together, that’s what keeps the relationships happy.
Above all things, if you want a relationship to be permanent, just put the jealousy aside. After all, everyone wants to have fun, that’s what SL is about, with no real life dramas added to the mix.

Here are 10 Commandments for Virtual Relationships.
  1. §   Don’t be jealous
  2. §   Leave the dramas at the door
  3. §   Have interests in common;
  4. §   Respect each other’s boundaries
  5. §   Be creative and spontaneous
  6. §   Don’t let the routine depress the relationship
  7. §   Don’t isolate. Keep other Second Life friendships, not only with your partner.
  8. §   Have the same expectations of your partner about bringing the SL relationship to real life.
  9. §   Respect each other’s feelings
  10.    Share the same fantasies.

Special thanks to: Max and Matt, who posed with me, for the photos; Joymell, the beautiful lonely elf girl; the unknown couple, the man and the cat girl; Pryamel and Majamela; a romantic couple and Dino, for helping me with my English.

A funny thing happened in SL today - Lacy Muircastle Reporting

I rezzed into my Linden house this morning and was merrily fishing through my inventory for some note card or other, when I noticed that I had the pink cross hairs of perve through my head.
I looked to see who it was but because the privacy eye is activated I couldn't see the chap concerned.  I then opened his profile as one does, certainly as this one does any way.  All looked pretty run of the mill, in fact it was quite amusing.
He was still staring, so now feeling a little disconcerted I contacted him.
[2015/10/11 23:07] Lacy Muircastle: Hi Doug are you a new neighbour?
[2015/10/11 23:08] Doug: hi lacy
[2015/10/11 23:08] Doug: I am peeping Tom
[2015/10/11 23:08] Lacy Muircastle: lol
[2015/10/11 23:08] Lacy Muircastle: well there we go
[2015/10/11 23:09] Doug: I like your messy hair.
[2015/10/11 23:09] Lacy Muircastle: I do too
[2015/10/11 23:11] Doug: You have been on Sl a long time
[2015/10/11 23:12] Lacy Muircastle: As have you
[2015/10/11 23:12] Doug: are you going to tease me?
[2015/10/11 23:13] Lacy Muircastle: Nah don't have the time for that
As you can well imagine I was somewhat taken aback by his boldness.  Then I heard him, clearly he had his mic on and was, well you use your imagination as what he was doing ...
I know Second Life is a a place where we can play out our fantasies, but gee whizz.  Shortly thereafter SL kindly booted me out.
So that was that.  Never a a dull moment in SL that is for sure.

Love is in the air - Lacy Muircastle reporting ....

Skiing Powder Tropical a relatively new, exclusive sim, dedicated to playing cupid, invites you to come and see what they are all about.

As you rezz in to the sim you are greeted by a pair of statuesque Giraffe.  Make sure your sound option is on, as the background noises of crashing waves and birdsong are realistically soothing.  You will immediately notice that the sim owner, Skiing Powder, has an exceptional eye for detail and all the items on the sim are of the highest quality available in SL.

If you have a penchant for photography, the sim offers two great photo studios to use free of charge. One is a Mesh studio and the other a Memories studio. It is recommended that you dance on the oversized piano keys.

You can bring your significant other to swim in the tropical seas or you can walk hand in hand along miles of artistic oceans, beaches and dunes.  Adult fun is to be found all over the sim, from piers, gazebos, a canopy, rafts, hammocks, beach beds, outdoor showers, to couples hearts dance/sex animators.

They also off the best rezzers for; Speedboats, Hot Air Balloons, Jetskis and Gliders in SL.   Flying and rezzing is unrestricted.

The three open houses, each with hot tubs and top of the grid beds (Loversplayground beds) are available for your use.  Make the picturesque climb up the famous swaying bridge to the tree house, it’s an adventure all of its own, go on we dare you.   Or explore the romantic villa from Venice Italy, which is right on the water.  The Tiki house on mountain has incredible 360 degree views of the sim with privacy curtains.

To add to the romantic ambiance of the sim there are several water fountains and water shows in the water throughout the parcel.

Skiing Powder is the owner of the sim has an art history background and she studied in Paris France. She currently lives in New England and is involved in the arts scene there.  She began SL as an escape from the world of the concrete jungle. Her curiosity had been piqued after reading an article about SL. She observed “To be anonymous is a drug.”

She said of her time in SL “From noob to noob helper from scared and stupid to knowledge is power. SL is an International community of people looking and experiencing things through anonymity that they may have never experienced before. It’s a blast if you don’t take it too seriously and have fun with the fantasy. MMORPG is still relatively new to the universe and I am looking forward to the next phase of virtual reality. I loved building the sim. I started from scratch 3 times this year. I returned all items at once and got to work to making it better. That moment when you hit the button and everything disappears and returned to your inventory and you look around and there is nothing and total silence, my hair stood up, I cried but was determined to make it better starting totally from scratch. This is Skiing Powder Tropical 4.0 now.”

Ski remembers how frustrated she was when she first started in SL, not being allowed to fly on certain sims, never being allowed to open shopping bags, continually flying into ban lines, getting poofed out by security systems and the terrible laggy sims.  Which is why she owns her own sim and has done so for over four years.   She enjoys SL for socialising, the community, the arts and the fantasy.  She decided she wanted to have a sim to create a fantasy beach world which is luxuriously appointed and which had stunning art.  A place she wanted to visit. In RL she is a snow skier and she loves the mountains hence her name Ski, but when at home she wants to escape into the fantasy world that is SL.  She is now offering you the opportunity to have the same experience.

You will not be met any form of group joining spam, greeter bot or notices of any kind.  The sim is not just a dating venue, it is a place many call home.  The sim is somewhere you can bring your date, significant other and friends to play and relax.

And the sim is available to for the entire SL Community.  The focus is on an audience with a taste for beauty, elegance, and romance that the resort speaks to. Members are assured of a 6 star luxury experience at this tropical beach spa.

The sim is open 24/7.  The venue will be hosting Midnight beach parties once a month which will be open to all, as well as a Couples only midnight beach party, once a month.  Plus Friday parties for all and Saturday parties for couples only.  Don’t miss the holiday season at Skiing Powder Tropical Resort and Spa is spectacular.

Rolls Royce Drophead Enters the SL World With Comfort, Presence and Luxury- Khanjan Reporting...

One of the most expensive cars in real life has been created in Second life. That’s right we are talking about the Drophead Coupe based on the Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe. It is Unlike the real life version of that car which cost more than a third of a million pounds. (About $479,775 USD) The Surplus Motors Drophead cost L$2000 which is a great price I think for what you are getting including working rear-opening doors and great interior and exterior. Anyways let’s get down to business.

Space:
The Drophead Coupe does not have much legroom in the back so this would be one of those Luxury cars where you would prefer the front seats. If you click on the car and go into the menu click on Option>Advance>Resize. The rest is self-explanatory allowing you to resize so you can fit yourself and your friends in the car perfectly. The boot also known as the trunk is quite small but enough for shopping but for now nothing interactive can be done in there.

Comfort
Drophead uses modified ACS scripts version 7.02 with great sound. Sometimes when I’ve been driving it I’ve been tempted to rev it just to see if the engine is running. Having put this on a race track in Second Life is when I’ve really noticed the engine doing its thing when I accelerate hard.

Dashboard Layout
In two word the dashboard it’s simple & Beautiful. The interior of the Surplus Motor Drophead is textured incredibly matching the actual trimming of the real life version of the leather and wood. Both of which is assemble in beauty making both textures complement each other.  The dashboard of the car is very simple with the modern technology such as the media capability allowing accesses your favourite music.  I Love listening to Roads Untraveled by Linkin Park when driving the car.

Easy to Drive
In the car you sit very high with default camera view also being high which can be adjustable but I think it is perfect for a wide and long car like this. As you get to see the road you are driving on and you know where the road ends so you do not end up crashing into the car in front. Yes I admit I’ve crashed a few times in it but I have found that reversing and changing lanes and turning the whole car to the right or left is a bit tricky due to the length of the car.

In terms of steer apart from what I have just mentioned due to the lovely ACS scripts modification it feels effortless to accelerate. However, in manual mode I think the car shifts more than it needs to at times which can be a downside.

Fun to Drive
The Surplus Drophead is a fun car to drive no doubt about that which is more enjoyable than I expected. However, this does not include the tight bends which was annoying especially though Morningwood Valley.

Pricing
If money is not an object and you are happy to spend L$2000 this is the car when you are looking for Comfort, Presence and luxury.

Get it here!

THE NAKED TRUTH ABOUT YOKO IRETO - Dean Lawson Reporting

Images provided by Yoko Ireto
Yoko Ireto is a Second Life artist who seems to linger in the neon haze of cyber space where she creates moody shadowy images that intrigue the eye and causes the mind to wander into a sensual world that is both glamorous and crude, avant garde and ancient, and most of all, very lewd in it’s conduct. I had the good fortune to interview Yoko Ireto and found the artist to be very open and revealing in discussing the techniques involved in creating these images.

Dean : What initially attracted you to Second Life?

Yoko : Curiosity. The idea of a virtual world in which real people live their fantasies behind masks, and where everything seen is the product of someone's imagination and (sometimes hard) work. It has not changed much since, though I have matured and evolved in my character.

Dean : Are you involved in visual arts in real life? If so would you like to discuss your real life experience as an artist?

Yoko : Not at all. I am hopeless with a paintbrush or a pencil. I do like photography though and have been doing so for decades I do also love art in RL, and buy a lot of paintings, sculptures and other artifacts do decorate my interior - often from local artists when I do some traveling. I have been brought up in a very open, "cultural" and diverse environment.

Sunlight Images provided by Yoko Ireto

Dean : When viewing images titled "Sunlight" , "Bamboos" 1 and 2 , "Beau" , "Water Dragon 3" and "New Collins Land Party 4" I was very impressed by your use of shadows and shallow focus. Do you accomplish this inworld or do you use photoshop or is it a combination of both? Could you describe in detail your process?

Yoko : I try to do as much as I can inworld. Create the poses - although I love to work with poses from a select number of talented creators as well - make my own props, create my lighting, using both local lights and custom Windlight. Some shots can take days to be finalized, and sometimes about 40 or 50 shots to get the one... I pick the best angle / lighting to "hide" all the SL glitches inworld so that I have very little work to do in editing... roughly, what we used to do when processing our films... adjusting contrast and colors... That's when I work in a controlled environment, or studio. "Live" shots are a bit more challenging. I often use the "freeze frame" feature to get them right, but lighting is harder to work with, especially in indoor places. Regardless, I always work with the graphics settings on the highest level, and customize shadows, glow, depth of field, etc... a lot to suit the situation. The photo tools in Firestorm are just great for that.

The selection of pics you gave as examples is interesting. Sunlight, bamboos and Water dragon are studio work and were really simple and straight forward to make. Very little editing, and not a huge work on lighting either. Fast and easy "mood shots". Beau is a commissioned work, studio as well. I took more time for the lighting and props, but the pose was included in the furniture I used. All the shadows and glow / glare are inworld. New collins land party is part of a series of live shots at an opening party. The outdoor setting and the colorful environment helped a lot. I edited the colors mostly, but the bulk of it happened inworld. The editing tool I work with is the Gimp.

Body Art 10 Images provided by Yoko Ireto

Dean : Your work features a lot of nudity including close ups of female genitals such as "Courbet". One of your images, "Body Art 10" appears to feature a headless nude woman who appears to be bending backwards. "Femmes fatales" 1 and 2 feature a nude woman brandishing weapons. Are you making a statement with your depiction of nudes?

Yoko : *laughs warmly reading the question* Yes there probably are many statements and understatements in all my work. But the main thing is not what I state, it is what people feel when visualising, and how it appeals to each individual. Although, I mainly work for myself, my creativity being like a "high pressure valve" - but I do appreciate that others like to see my work and I am always humbled and grateful for it.
Here is a little background for these pieces that you cited as examples.
Courbet is part of a series that I made, reproducing real famous paintings. Degas, Boucher, Courbet to name a few. I wanted to learn from these geniuses. The challenge was to recreate the poses and understand their vision, but then, give the artwork my own touch. Courbet - L'Origine du monde - which represents a close up of a woman's genitals as the cradle of human kind, was very controversial at the time. And the pose itself, a real challenge with the SL avatar. Especially these avatars before our beautiful mesh ones of today!
Body Art 10 is a "live" shot. The woman has a head - I do not venture into morbid territories -  but I think the impact is always stronger when the model is not "personalized". This picture is also a very personal and "intimate" one. Body art - in all its forms - is something that I work on a lot. We are all beautiful through the eyes of the ones that love us, and despite the BDSM nature of some of these works, I guess one statement is that we can be a beautiful piece of art in someone else's eyes. Body and mind of course.
The series "Femme Fatale" was just a bit of fun for me but yes, the message is pretty obvious, although I have to admit that it was a bit "clumsy".

Images provided by Yoko Ireto

Dean : Is there anything you would like people to know about you or your art?

Yoko : I think I have already stated a lot! Briefly, I am a simple and approachable person, and always happy to share and talk about what I do without taking myself too seriously... and I love to understand what others do in SL as well!
My "art" is simply a way for me to let out some of the many things that boil inside me... I came to it just reflecting on a phrase of one of my SL "mentors", a dear friend of my early days here: "you need to have a purpose in SL...". I think I found it.
Oh, and I am always looking for *serious* models - males preferably as they are shyer and scarcer!
