The Miss SL Organization run by Marcus Lefevre presented their Mr SL pageant finale yesterday -  24 October 2015.

Djembe, Marcus Lefevre, Mimi Juneau and Venom Zanzibar, were the DJ, voice and chat hosts for the event.

What was supposed to be the most elegant,challenging event of the year for the men of style in SL, fell somewhat flat. It took six very long hours to get through the programme, with bouts of repetition and excruciatingly long breaks between categories when absolutely nothing happened.  Oh actually that is not entirely true, as we were treated to a musical interlude by Mankind Tracer aka Seth Regan during the tallying of results for the top five.

The show was touted as being and I quote "packed with lots to see."  Umm not so much. That was overselling what was to come, which was  each candidate presenting their National outfits, followed by presentations of “Victor”s Secret” and then the gentlemen donned their finest Formal Attire.  Finest being used somewhat liberally in this instance.  I'm all for personal interpretation and stuff, but sometimes it can just look downright weird (my opinion solely.) 

The event was well supported by the fashionable crowd of SL, in fact the sim was packed to the rafters.  As we all know this causes its own set of problems and it contributed to the terrible delays between category presentations.  As usual with these types of events the jostling to be noticed was amusing, and of course there are always those who are pathetic because their chosen one does not get, well, chosen.

LL adheres to the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) http://secondlife.com/corporate/dmca.php and have begun sending representatives out to clubs in SL looking for DJ's that appear to be playing stolen music (napster, youtube etc.)

They are looking specifically for DJ's that are playing OBVIOUSLY stolen music.

We all like being able to fulfill requests, but don't put both yourself and the club at risk.  If you don't know how to change the title of a track, ask for Help. It's not hard to do, so stop being lazy and clean up your tracks!  If all else fails, DON'T PLAY THE TRACK!!

If an infringement violation is filed against any one DJ, both the DJ and the owner(s) of the stream allowing the music to be played are subject to a $500.00 USD fine.  Accounts that are unable to cover the cost of the fine are simply frozen until they can.

If you download music, please ensure that it is LEGAL, or at the very least, ensure that tracks are LABELED CORRECTLY.  (i.e. no "with lyrics")

DJ's that are currently including illegal/mislabeled tracks are now putting both the RUBBER ROOM and themselves at risk.  Therefore, we cannot afford to send out warnings to individual staff members, but will instead immediately remove offenders from staff.  It's nothing personal.

Harsh, but there's not much else that we can do.

It’s Halloween again! People are busy getting their last minute costume accessories, Halloween party invitations are circulating  and children are getting excited about counting candy.  It’s time to get those pumpkin lanterns and recipe book out while we all wait for October 31st for a Trick or Treat! It also marks the end of Fall and the start of Winter.

Halloween is celebrated with superstitions, pranks and lots of playful fun.. Have you ever thought about the true origin of  Halloween?  It wasn’t always about costumes and candy.

Halloween began during the ancient Celtic Festival about 2000 years ago, called Samhain which was celebrated on October 31st.  November 1st was celebrated as the start of their New Year. The time of October end and the start of November every year, the days are shorter and the nights become longer, symbolizing the start of Winter.

During the Samhain Festival, on October 31st, the dead were thought to return as ghosts. As the dead were those of the loved ones, food and wine were kept outside the doors as an offering to their beloved for their last journey.  If the celts had to leave their houses for the night, they would dress like a ghost to blend in amongst the dead.

The end of harvest and the beginning of cold dark winter was closely associated with the dead and the undead. In the past, people were afraid of the dark. The fear of the unknown still lingers among human beings today.

The Celts lived in Ireland, the United Kingdom and Northern France. By 43 A.D. Romans had conquered most of the Celtic regions. During their rule, Feralia (tradition commemorated for the passing of the dead) and Pomona (honour female Goddess of fruits and trees) were celebrated along with Samhain Festival on the same days.

In 609 A.D Pope Boniface IV, introduced Pantheon in Rome to dedicate to hour all Catholic Martyrs. Pope Gregory III, in the 8th Century introduced the All Saints Day incorporating a few traditions of the Samhain Festival on November 1st to honour the martyrs and saints. Hence, the evening before, was called the All Hallows Eve, and later called as Halloween. All Hallows or All Hallomas came from Middle English, Aholowmesse meaning All Saints Day.

In Second Life, Halloween is a big festival, celebrated across the grid. Designers create costumes for special Halloween Hunts and Halloween shopping events. Themed Costume parties are held in many clubs. The celebrations usually begin with start of October, although, the major celebrations are witnesses during the end of the month. THE HOLLYWOOD BALLROOM BRACES FOR THE RETURN OF THE PINK VAMPIRE on Sat. Oct 24th at 7pm SLT.

The Hollywood Ballroom is always packed when The Pink Vampire arrives on the scene, but it is unclear what will happen now that the singing sensation has made the cover of “Hollywood” magazine. The sensuous cover that shows nothing, but says everything is a top seller at every newsstand nationwide. Amar Stanley, the owner of the largest news and magazine store in Hollywood, located just south of Hollywood Bl. on Wilcox, said that the magazine sold out in the first 30 minutes.

It is rumored that The Pink Vampire will be performing her provocative “South America Dreams” set. A set of songs that got her banned in Poughkeepsie.

Surplus Motors S65 AMG- Khajan Reporting...

Hmmm Surplus Motors just released the S65 AMG based on the real-life 2015 Mercedes Benz S65 AMG.

Exterior

At first glance, we can see that the car is more aggressive and yet more beautiful having a redesigned look. The car has been fitted with a six-twin-louver grille which looks great. The lights are aesthetically pleasing, yet the use of it when you turn it on is quite low. Lucky the brightness can be adjusted thanks to the advanced lighting system on board in the car which can be accessed by the HUD. Moreover, I’m glad to see that there are working indicators which adds to the realism; hopefully there will  be an update to the car to add hazard signs. The front grille seems wider, making larger intakes on each side with the addition of chrome--creating an epic look.

On the rear of the car, Surplus Motors has gone for new set of tail lights for the S65 AMG as well as a quad- exit exhaust system which is very sharp. In terms of the colour options on the overall body, you have 6 stock colours available to choose from or to customize it to your favourite colour.

Interior

Surplus Motors has done in the interior of the car which comes stocked with the highest-quality materials to make it look as real as possible. I would define this as pure luxury with Nappa leather and diamond stitching which graces the seats, headliner, dashboard, door panels and grab bars. The interior comes in 4 standard colours. Maybe it’s me, but I’m glad to see a working dashboard which you can access through your media content by enabling it in your settings. Unlike past cars like the Surplus Motors Spyder that was not possible.  

Driving

The 65 AMG is a very smooth to ride as well as realistic. The steering is perfect although I have noticed that when you are driving that the wheel seems to either oversteer or understeer despite being in 1st gear and not in cruise mode or turbo. Hopefully there will be a fix for that yet I have found out that by resetting the car via the menu is a temporary fix.

Pricing

The 65 AMG cost about L$1900 which I guess is worth every penny when you are getting a car like this.
