MONIQUE’S CLOSET ORGANIZATION GUIDE: MY TIPS TO ORGANIZING MY SECOND LIFE INVENTORY - Moniques Chapeau reporting...

Hey Lifey Babes, this is your girl Monique coming to you with Second Life’s hot topics about culture, gossip and style.

I love shopping, especially during the weekend. But after a shopping spree and receiving gifts from secret admirers, inventories start to get super cluttered and confusing. But don’t worry, I’m here to help. Here are my 6 top tips for organizing your inventory.

1. CREATE CATEGORIES FOR EVERYTHING YOU BUY BEFORE YOU SHOP

Before I start any shopping trip, I always make sure I have all of my folders created so when I start to organize everything, they already have a home. All I have to do is drag my new folders to their home and things already are in order.

Here are a few of my categories for everything in my closet!

2. USE SYMBOLS TO SEPARATE CATEGORIES

I like using symbols to separate my categories. These symbols create groupings and things become much easier to find and organize.

The “#” is for anything to do with my body parts.

The “$” symbol for all of my beauty products.

The “**” symbol for all of my clothing items.

3. DELETE DEMOS IN THE RECENT TAB IMMEDIATELY

When shopping on SL, the number one rule before buying any outfit is to always try the Demo.

Whether you buy the outfit or not, it is easy for the demos to mix in with regular purchased objects and it creates a jumbled mess.

The Tip: Every time you change back into your regular outfit, go to the “Recent” tab on your Inventory, right click and “Delete” the Demos immediately. This good habit will save you time when you have to organize objects you actually want to keep.

4. UNPACKING THE HAULS WHILE THEY ARE STILL FRESH

There are two great ways you can unpack your hauls.

The first one is to unpack your objects as soon as you buy them. But my favorite way is to unpack everything right after the end of my shopping spree or at least the next time I log on.

This way what I bought is fresh in my mind of what the object looks like. Usually, if I wait too long to organize the objects, I forget what I bought and I will have to add it to my body to see what it is. This creates an annoying extra step for organization. So, the fresher it is in your mind, the easier it is to organize.

4. OPENING A SECOND INVENTORY WINDOW TO GET THINGS IN ORDER

I was so happy when I found out this amazing tip. What I do is use multiple inventory windows at once.

You go to the bottom left of your inventory window, hit the gear symbol and the top of the tab it will say “New Inventory Window”. Now you will have two identical inventory windows. I use this feature for mainly two things:

The first is when unpacking my purchases, I use the first window to look at my unpacked “Objects” list while I use the second inventory window to look at everything on my “Recent” tab. As I unpack, I make sure everything I unpack corresponds with my Recent Tab. It works great !

This is useful because it makes sure in the rush of unpacking, everything you spent your good hard Lindens on gets is ready to use.

My second favorite function of the double open inventory windows trick is when there is a long list of unpacked items, sometimes when moving folders objects around they go into the wrong folder. It is much easier to move items from one inventory tab to the other.

5. GIVING FOLDERS A MEMORABLE NICKNAME

An inventory is something very personal. My final tip is never be afraid to give objects in your inventory a nickname folder so you can quickly recall what something looks like.

Here is an example:

This hair is from FAGA called Daria, but I won't easily remember what the hairstyle looks like based on its original name. Instead, I call it “Cerci Low Westeros” because in the popular show Game of Thrones, the actress Leah Headley wears it often in the first few seasons for her character Cerci. So as soon as I read that folder, I know exactly what it is. You can use this trick for almost anything, and it works!

6. MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR TIME

Here is my final tip and maybe the most important one. Inventory organization does not have to be done all at once, but rather it can become a filler of time. I will explain what I mean.

Most come on Second Life to connect with people and to have fun, but there can be time gaps in between those fun times and that’s when you tackle your inventory.

Let’s look at a few common scenarios:

You and your friend are typing, but suddenly they type “BRB” in the chat. You are waiting for a teleport to the latest event, but it’s taking a little while. The person talking in voice is boring you to tears or they are just super annoying.

These are all excellent examples of scenarios where you can click into your inventory and organize a few items. You may only get one or two done, but keep up with this good habit and before you know it your inventory will be perfectly organized. Plus, it is less overwhelming just to do a few things at a time.

CONCLUSION

Inventories can get confusing and overwhelming, but hopefully some of my tips will be helpful.

IT’S POSH, BY GOSH – BY JOSH: POSH EVENTS - AN ICONIC EXPERIENCE IN SL - JOSH (THOMAS1 BELLIC), REPORTING

Those of you who follow the fashion trendsetters in SL have no doubt heard of Posh Events.  Every month Posh invites independent designers and businesses to display their latest creations at a Posh Event.   I happened upon one just the other day.  Posh was there, putting the final touches on her displays, calming nervous exhibitors and generally ensuring all was in readiness for the next opening.    Not having spent a lot of time myself buying women’s apparel and accessories, I did manage to get Posh to share some about what a Posh Event is all about.  This is HER story.

Josh (Thomas1 Bellic) (JB:  So tell me, Posh.  Where did you get the idea for Posh Events? Is there some history here?

Poshbarby Sun (PS): Welll..I guess I got the idea as it developed out of my Idea of wanting to connect with  other women on friendly, business basis,  That was how the concept started – wanting to meet other strong-minded, hard-working women who owned businesses.

JB:  So then, who managed to put this thing together and what role did each of you play?

PS:  I am the owner I am responsible for all things.  I put the event together and work hard to keep it going. One of the toughest parts if this is making sure we have enough participants month after month.  My continuing role is to make sure my event has the participants it needs.  I make sure the exhibitors are well taken care of, and that they meet all the required deadlines.

JB:    There are many fun and interesting shopping malls in SL. What is the Posh Events difference?

PS:  What makes my mall different from all the other malls out there is that this is not some cold shopping mall.  When you come to a Posh Event, you can feel like you are at home.  You don’t have to worry about being harassed or mistreated.  You are treated with love and kindness, and are made to feel very welcome.

JB:    Well then, just how big an area do you own?

PS:  We have a 30,000 prim property, split among the mall, a beach area, and special entertainment  venues scattered around the place to host special events.

JB:    Tell us about some of the different areas on the property?

PS:  IN addition to the main Events build, we have a complete shopping mall with shops for rent, a lovely beach area too relax those tired feet from shopping, and various other rentals available.

JB:    Do you have any plans for future development?

PS:  Absolutely!  I am always looking to expand.  Join the group to be informed of upcoming events and activities.

JB:    Tell us about some of the designers you work with?

PS:  Some of these folks are truly amazing.  But I don’t really want to say any names for concern of leaving someone out who deserves to be mentioned.  We know that designers come and go in SL, but I am so very happy to be able to help those who are shining stars in the design world.  I do hope that, when they make it to the big time, that they will be able to appreciate the assistance I gave them in their climb and when they reach the top of their industry.

JB:    Shopping areas are not normally known for their Special Events.  What kind of events have you hosted and plan to host in the future?

PS:  I am hoping to host parties and do more sales and weekend sales

JB:  So tell me Posh.  If a designer wishes to get in on this, exactly what do they need to do?

PS:  Designers are cordially invited to participate in the Posh Event  June Round

Spotlight on LUXE Paris Look of the Year 1st Runner Up– Hunipet Delicioso–Ely Catronis Reporting…

This past August, the Announcement was made for the LUXE Paris Look of the Year 2022.  We have already met the Ambassador this year, I would like to take the time to introduce you to another special lady. She is someone in Second Life to explore and be silly and have fun in her early years who found her way into the depths of the modeling and fashion world inside the grid. Come, sit down and have a chat with the amazing and interesting Runner Up, Hunipet Delicioso.

INTERVIEW WITH HUNIPET DELICIOSO

Ely Catronis (EC): Before we get to know you, the person behind the avatar, I am curious, what was it like to hear your name announced as a runner up?

Hunipet Delicioso (HD): Have you ever been so surprised that you freeze? That’s what it was like for me. I remember thinking “Wait… what?? Was that MY name?”  It was… an amazing experience. I hope that every model has the opportunity to hear their name being announced.

(EC): That is an amazing experience.  Truly exciting. Can you share a little about yourself, how you found this vast world of Second Life? Any fun stories from those newbie days to share?

(HD):  A friend of mine told me about SL and encouraged me to sign up. During my early days in SL, I was attracted to the Neko look… humans with cute kitten ears and a big fluffy tail. The Neko tail was a great icebreaker when I was surrounded by strangers I had to interact with. My favorite was to pick gum out of my tail and throw it at someone. Yes, I have a bit of imp in me. Those were fun years.

(EC): I think sometimes, our early days did spark something in us all.   You do have something there.  What made you start out in modeling? Are there models or designers that inspire your work?

(HD):  I had burned out as a host and needed a break when a friend encouraged me to try modeling classes. I thought “why not?” and signed up. In RL, I’ve always gravitated toward challenges and SL modeling has provided me a *lot* of them.

There are so many talented designers in SL that there’s no way I could narrow down to one or two. I love classic looks with touches of unique and creative details. Karl Lagerfeld is probably my (current) favorite fashion inspirator. Avant-garde can be challenging but a lot of fun.

(EC): Do you have any advice for people interested in fashion or modeling?

(HD): The main thing is to enjoy it. Have fun. Try different things. There are SO many different areas in the SL fashion industry! A lot of them don’t involve walking on the runway or competitions at all. Creative set designers are in demand along with people who can wrangle the backstage making sure models are cued on time, etc. Think of SL fashion as an endless buffet of choices. Take time to sample everything. You may surprise yourself.

(EC): That is a wonderful way to look at Fashion. I am sure there is someone out there who needs to hear that. Are there any other events or organizations that you are involved in?

(HD): I’ve been in the modeling world for only 2 years so I’ve been focusing mainly on learning as much as I can from as many different people as I can find. In the last year, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to write scripts for two fashion shows produced by Fashion Life Modeling Agency. My future plans are to continue classes with Ponchituti Boucher, One On One Modeling Tutelage & Academy. I’m looking forward to their intern program where I’ll be able to learn first-hand the behind-the-stage parts to modeling. I will absolutely audition for other competitions.

(EC):Those are wonderful opportunities.  You mention behind the scenes a lot in the fashion world and have an appreciation for all the antics that happen there. What was your favorite memory from the Look of the Year Contest?

(HD):  Oh boy… my favorite? That’s hard. People… It's the people I met through the Look of the Year contest. Having a chance to get to know the other ladies… They are fabulous stylists! It’s wonderful to see how others put an outfit together. Especially when I get the “why didn’t I think of that!!” moment. So much talent. The relationships I developed during the LUXE Paris Look Of The Year competition are the real prize.

(EC): Thank you so much for taking the time to sit and chat today.  It really has been an honor and a pleasure to meet you and work with you.  Before we go, is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

(HD): Ely, thank you so much for the opportunity to talk to you. I’d like to share two quotes that have made a huge difference in my life… RL and SL.

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone. If you don’t take a risk, you may miss out on some wonderful life experiences. What’s the worst that could happen? You get a “no”? Then keep asking.  You’d fail? Failure only means you haven’t found the right solution yet.

You don’t get what you wish for, you get what you work for”.  I have that one sitting on my RL work desk. Every time I get frustrated or feel defeated, reading that quote energizes me again.

Whatever you want to be, whatever you want to do… roll up your sleeves and work for it. Take risks. Ask questions so you are making informed decisions.

Lastly… please laugh as often as you can. Your mind cannot process pain at the same time when you are laughing. Look for the things to make you smile. Your body will thank you.

A huge thank you to Mika Palmyra, Parisian Skytower, Ponchituti Boucher, Lali Arbizu, Hyaecinte, Ѕнoly  KᴀᴇsϮηᴇя  Ƶнασуιηɢ. I know I missed some names, please forgive me.

WE ARE THE WORLD In the name of beauty without racial barriers!

It was in an effervescent atmosphere and with a lot of emotion in the air that the WE ARE THE WORLD fashion show took place this weekend! The Powerhouse Collective shook the world as 23 Power models from all over the planet walked the runway in the name of beauty without racial barriers!

PHOTOS: Melinda Bayn de Naidoo

Dressed by LUXE Paris, the models, all superstars, recounted fashions from the four corners of the world, taking advantage of the spotlight to make the beauty of all colours sparkle.

Asia, Africa, Europe… all continents were represented. Russia and Ukraine were there together. The models had been left completely free to select the clothes of their choice and the corner of the planet that they wished to represent; the result was spectacular. Dazzling!

But the best part of the story is that the public answered the call and we really felt great solidarity in the room, a great pleasure in breaking down prejudices.

BEAUTY IS IN THE EYES OF THE BEHOLDER

''Not only was your event of great beauty, but it carries an extraordinary message: Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, as my grandmother used to say,'' said Mika Palmyra, co-owner of LUXE Paris, in a short speech at the end of the event.

Palmyra attended the event with business partner Parisian Skytower as well as LUXE Paris designers Avalon Chrome and Liv Anton.

''Not only did you create dazzling looks that made our fashion shine, but most of all, we could feel your solidarity and your determination to break the narrow-mindedness'', added Mika Palmyra.

''Power models, after seeing what you are capable of, it wouldn't be surprising if you really manage to change the world!''

The Powerhouse Collective is a group of models who want to change the definition of beauty. The WE ARE THE WORLD show was entirely produced by The Powerhouse collective.

A MEANINGFUL HAPPENING

It all started when LUXE Paris LOOK of the YEAR winner and brand ambassador Jade Pono offered to do a show with The Powerhouse Collective, which she runs with Selene Takeda, Ame Morningstar, Hasu Valentino, Shiloh Mae, and Melinda Bayn.

Mika Palmyra and Parisian Skytower loved the idea and continue to develop it by suggesting the theme WE ARE THE WORLD!

''With the philosophy of LUXE Paris promoting the beauty of diversity and our Collective wanting to shine the spotlights on models of all races, it was a very harmonious and productive teamwork'' says Jade.

''The theme represented us so well that everyone wanted to participate! It really became our WE ARE THE WORLD, a unique and meaningful happening!''

While Jade took over production and Melinda armed her camera to immortalize the adventure, Wyatt Frost offered his sim Cadence Island for the event and tackled the construction of the runway with his friends Criss Fenrisulfr and Sander Sparta of Ambient Building and Environment.

At the same time, two dozen of models scrutinized LUXE Paris store to create the best looks while Selene Takeda supervised the production of the style cards. Anael Starr hosted the event as Ame Cheveyo was DJing and Lady Evaa filming.

Changing the definition of beauty WE ARE THE WORLD Fashion Show

A bit like that memorable night of January 1985, when dozens of singers from all over the world came together to record WE ARE THE WORLD, 22 models of all ethnicities will tell the fashion of the world SATURDAY October 1st at 12 PM SLT in a striking fashion show by The Powerhouse agency and LUXE Paris.

By Mika Palmyra

''Check your egos at the door'' read the sign placed by Quincy Jones on the front door of A&M Studios that night in L.A., 37 years ago. Here in Second Life, we could write: CHANGING THE DEFINITION OF BEAUTY, the message that inspired the foundation of The Powerhouse Collective and that LUXE Paris also conveys through its slogan DIVERSITY.

France, USA, Africa, Argentina, UK, Spain, Ireland. Japan, Italy... The 22 Power models will take us around the world with evocative looks assembled with LUXE Paris clothes.

The models were left completely free to create the look of their choice with the LUXE Paris outfits of their choice to illustrate the fashion style of the nation of their choice. This freedom to create combined with the expertise of the Power models has given spectacular results, of which we give you a brief overview in a superb photo taken by Melinda Bayn de Naidoo.

To see the rest, you will have to join us SATURDAY October 1st at NOON for our WE ARE THE WORLD in the name of the beauty of all colours!

The final episode of the Making Of LOOK of the YEAR

To conclude her exciting series on the Making Of LOOK of the YEAR, Petlove leaves behind the scenes to capture all the glamor of the grand finale!

Thursday, August 11, 2022

LUXE Paris has found its new ambassador: JADE PONO WINS!

It is Jade Pono, an experienced model renowned for her professionalism and her style woven with ardor and femininity, who won over the LOOK of the YEAR jury during the grand final Sunday.

PHOTOS: MONÏ

It took a long time for Jade to realize that she had just been elected LUXE Paris LOOK of the YEAR!

“When Mika Palmyra announced that she was going to reveal the name of the winner, someone in the crowd shouted Nikki You got that! so I thought, cool, it's Nikki, now I'm going to be able to go rest because I haven't slept for two nights, I was so feverish,'' tells Jade with emotion.

''But I was getting all kinds of weird messages...and the coordinator was asking me to go in front! I was totally confused... Until I saw the crown arriving in my inventory!''

Japanese living in Hawaii, Jade Pono has been a professional virtual model for five years.

''Short in real life, I wanted a second life as a great tall top model so I got to work, combining training and participating in as many fashion shows as possible to gain experience.
''Today I am member of 25 agencies and on some Saturdays, I have three shows in a row!''

The new LUXE Paris ambassador received L$50,000 in cash, an elegant tiara created for her by Zuri Rayna and another L$50,000 in gift cards from LUXE Paris, ZURI Jewellery, In-Nova Modeling Academy, Swank & Co, ProPose Modeling Poses and Visionaire Photo Institute.

The runners up
HUNIPET & LATHILDA

In the wake of Jade, also very stylish and remarkable on the runway, another highly reputable experienced model, Hunipet Delicioso, 1st runner up, and a student model, a new star, Lathilda, 2nd runner up.

The two runners-up each received L$10,000 in cash, a ZURI tiara and over L$15,000 in gift cards.

The three LOOK of the YEAR winners will also appear in several reports in The SL Enquirer and in the magazines SL Confidencial, SL20 and LUXE Paris.

A SPECTACULAR FINAL

It's a colorful show that the 12 finalists delivered in their last LOOK of the YEAR challenge. On a grandiose stage created by Parisian Skytower, co-owner LUXE Paris, the great 12 took us on a journey around the world by interpreting, in turn, a particular look inspired by one of the 12 most important fashion capitals of the planet.

In our fantasy world, Rihanna, Cher and Madonna, three of the world’s biggest fashion icons, created the Global Fashion Ball to benefit hungry children. At their head table, 12 elegant women diplomats representing the 12 most important fashion capitals of the planet, the 12 LOOK of the YEAR finalists!

Each of the finalists was asked to prepare a formal look representing the fashion style of a particular capital. The 12 greatest fashions capitals were selected according to the latest Global Fashion & Luxury Cities Index (Nov 2021) and assigned to the finalists randomly.

And all the finalists shone, admirably capturing the fashion essence of each of the capitals and arousing an extremely close vote.

A JURY of 13 FASHION
& MEDIA PERSONALITIES

Finalists had to present an outfit made up of LUXE Paris clothing and ZURI jewellery and have received for this, generous gift cards from both brands. The LOOK of the YEAR contest is the only style competition on the grid which subsidizes its finalists.

The jury was made up of 13 personalities from the fashion and media worlds: Parisian Skytower & Mika Palmyra,
LUXE Paris owners, Zuri Rayna, owner and designer Zuri Jewelry, Valsnia, LOOK of the YEAR 2021-2022, Ponchituti Boucher, legendary top model, co-owner of One On One Agency and owner ProPose Modeling Poses, Frolic Mills, another virtual fashion legend who practically invented the industry in Second Life and the owner of the new SL20 magazine, Lanai Jarrico, owner of The SL Enquirer, , Adonis Lubomir, owner of Swank Events and Womenstuff group, Chema K, owner of SL Confidencial magazine, Ava Jhamin, co-owner The A-List and L'Amour Productions, Stephano Del Piero, teacher at In-Nova Model Training Academy, Consuela Blanche, manager Visionaire Photo Institute, Virgo, manager of the Latin Quarter.

The judges have awarded a score to each finalist by evaluating the accuracy and originality of their interpretation of their fashion capital as well as the presence of LUXE Paris and ZURI elegance. They also evaluated the finalists stage presence and charisma. The scores allocated during this last challenge were added to those of the first challenge, which took place ten days ago on the theme DECADES of FASHION 1950-2020. It is the sum that determined the winner.

SURPRISE!
VALSNIA LAUNCHES
HER 1st COLLECTION

As soon as the FASHION CAPITALS challenge was over, Mika Palmyra, the other owner-designer of LUXE Paris, left de judges' lounge to proceed with the compilation of the votes. Usually a long and boring moment, this waiting period turned into magic tho as Valsnia, outgoing LOOK of the YEAR winner, surprised the crowd with the launch of her first collection for LUXE Paris!

Suddenly, the majestic runway decked out of gold and onyx disappeared to give way to a magical Hindu garden. Five top models from One On One Agency, ZosiaAura, Memole, Miso, Tiy and Sholy, appeared as so many mysterious goddesses... This is because Valsnia's new collection pays homage to her country, India.

"I married traditional fabrics from my own real-life wardrobe with today's styles and cuts to show the two sides of India, its fondness for the past and its modernity," says Valsnia.

Among the traditional fabrics used, Valsnia's wedding dress and that of her mother.

SHOCKED
JADE COULDNT FIND
HER WORDS

The presentation of the collection ''LUXE Paris COLORS of INDIA by Valsnia'' was immediately followed by the long-awaited highlight of the event, the crowning of the new LOOK of the YEAR, Jade Pono, and of the runners-up Hunipet Delicioso and Lathilda.

Jade was so shocked that it took her long minutes before she could find her words to thank the judges, the organization and her supporters. On the VPC, the models' private communication system when they are on stage, the show's coordinator, Lali Arbizu, was begging Jade to break the silence...

''I just couldn't believe it'', Jade exclaims.
''I still cant believe it'', she added, 48 hours later.

Sa soeur Morgan
l'a inspirée

This is the second year that Jade has taken part in the LUXE Paris LOOK of the YEAR competition. Chosen in the semi-finals last year, she had not been selected for the final and here she is the big winner! What happened? What changed?

“What a tough question,” Jade comments with a laugh. ''I think it was my sister Morgan Incognito who inspired me. I so wanted her to be proud of me!

Morgan, Jade's virtual sister, also Japanese in RL, is a celebrity in the fashion world both for her qualities as a top model and for her involvement in many projects to improve the world such as her I SAY NO campaign benefiting RAINN, the Rape Abuse & Incest National Network.

Jade also thinks the LOOK of the YEAR mentoring team and the training she received in her early days at Naar Rexen's In-Nova Academy played a big role.

THE BEST PART:
THE MENTORING CLASSES!

"These mentorship classes and seminars with legendary supermodel Ponchitutti Boucher were the best part of the competition," she says feistily.
''It's worth millions of dollars to me!
''As for the school that introduced me to modeling, In-Nova, it is an extremely serious and very demanding institution!
''I even learned the basics of design there, which allowed me to create a cape to highlight my LUXE Paris dress for the final!''

Obviously, no one will be surprised to learn that Jade would like to continue her design apprenticeship within the LUXE Paris team. To be continued!
