SL Newser News- SOPA Act Two? CISPA to be Decided in US House as Soon as Today - Bixyl Shuftan Reporting...
Remember the mess over SOPA in December and January? This proposed law had the potential for becoming "The Great Firewall of America," possibly meaning the end of favorite places online such as Youtube, Facebook, and Second Life. Despite a Congress seemingly poised to approve it, opposition to it and it's sister bill PIPA grew in numbers. The backers of SOPA eventually shelved it from a vote, and the opponents had seemingly won.

The Star Trek Museum of Science, established in-world by Sabri Picard in 2006, remains at full throttle (if not at warp speed), though it has moved to a single island in-world. “We downsized last year (2011),” said Wabisabi Matahari, the museum’s curator and Benevolent Dictator. “No more room,” she added when this deadline beater inquired about the model starships that were part of the original exhibit. “(It) just got way too expensive and donations dried up,” the amiable dictator revealed.

Akasha Sternberg is a certified model, lover of fashion, and a blogger. She graduated with La Mode Modeling Agency on the February 25, 2012.
Akasha talks about her introduction to Second Life and her modeling career:
‘I heard about Second Life on a German radio show. I was curious and downloaded it. I stayed for about a year, but got bored, so I left for three years, only to come back with a bang, and I’ve loved it ever since.
‘In regards to modeling, I’ve learnt to do my own HUDS and about new fashion and styling genres - some of them I ended up loving dearly.
Titanic: Truly ‘A night to remember’- Mariella Anna Reporting...
Although
small in comparison to modern cruise ships, in 1912 Titanic stood alone in
terms of sheer scale, opulence and luxury. Titanic evokes an age of excess, of
unimaginable luxury, quality and obvious displays of wealth and status. It was
the ‘Belle Epoque’ which was to last up
until up until the first world war, before in Europe at least, class and privilege
were fragmented and changed forever. In the last moments
of the Titanic the division of wealth, and position on the social scale was
acutely illustrated by the fact that only 25% of third class passengers
survived.
In 1912 the most expensive first-class suite on the Titanic
cost $4,350 the staggering equivalent of $75,000
today- remembering tickets were only and rather ironically sold one way. In comparison, those travelling on a third
class ticket were also subjected to a level of luxury they probably had never
experienced before, certainly they would have had to invest a lifetime of
savings for the crossing, in the hopes of a new life in America.
Having
arrived at the Titanic exhibit prior to boarding the ship itself, I was struck
by the attention to detail given to create the exhibition centre with its
various Titanic artifacts, pictures of the ship during construction and
explanatory notes, sculpted china and even a first class menu giving a glimpse
of life on board. A scale mode of the
ship in a glass display case gave no clue as to what actually awaited us once
we’d boarded.

[Hera and Zeus devotional]
Some weeks ago, I had accidentally come across the school Sacred Cauldron on SL search. The description interested me as it stated that it is a virtual pagan academy. Curious, I asked my editor if I could cover a story on it. When I finally got the go signal, I went on to request a short interview on Sacred Cauldron's Dean, Dean Belladonna Laveau, and two of the school's students, Tea Tephi and Sapphire Chaosus.

Being a model in Second Life can be a very glamorous lifestyle, but it also involves hard work, dedication, and compromise. Whether you are an experienced or a new and aspiring model, you must learn to be able to accept constructive criticism and sometimes rejection, depending on the situation.

With the 100th Anniversary of the voyage and sinking of the famous passenger liner Titanic, the attention of Second Life residents is drawn to the Grid's own Titanic. Opened in 2009, the ship attracts many residents on a daily basis. Some are drawn to the ship's haunting history, some to take a special someone on a date in a place of atmosphere, and some a little of both. This weekend, there were some special events aboard to honor those who perished in the sinking.
