Spotlight on AviewTV’s LaPiscean Liberty Tea Couturier Reporting...

When you think about SL TV you automatically think of AviewTV. It has been an institution in our SL lives for a long time and is still going strong  with the demand  for Machinima and increase of SL residence wanting to know what is occurring in our SL world.
PAGE BREAK.
LaPiscean Liberty is the founder of AviewTV and still continues to provide Machinima and media the residence of SL need and require. He was kind enough to meet me to talk about AviewTV and also learn a little about the man behind Machinima media.

Tea.  Could you please tell us a bit about yourself and how you came about joining SL?
LaPiscean: As I live some distance from my Daughter, Cherub Spectre in SL, I joined to spend time with her. She is Founder and CEO of PixelTrix in SL.

Tea. You’re the Founder/CEO of AviewTV, how did the Aviewtv begin?
LaPiscean: Around 2008, A friend of mine, Rysan Fall of Fall films and I were talking about how to promote the filmmakers in SL, as most never heard of most of us. I say us because I no longer make films. I realized I would never make films as well as other have, so I decided to promote those that do. My friend Rysan said, why don’t you create your own network, like others have done in SL but more of a commercial programing network. So I agreed and started to develop some resources that would best promote the filmmakers as a community. Hence we started "Community Driven Programming".

Tea. Do you feel that since starting the AviewTV SL has changed throughout the years and has this affected the media industry?
LaPiscean: I feel the changes that SL has made to its platform has only made the media resources in SL better. Such as media on a prim, or shared media. Machinima has become a very good marketing tool for LL as well. Bringing the filmmakers together as a community in SL has brought a wealth of information to the filmmakers, such as technique, style, as well as inspiration and comprehension.

Tea. You hold quite a few top position in SL such as "UWA Machinima / Virtual Media Advisor / Archivist" and Cutting Edge Concert Events / Partner LEA Board Member how did you get involved with these industries?

LaPiscean: Simple really, (short version) When I first came to SL, people were very friendly and forthcoming with help and advice. The community was small in 05, and Lindens were around commonly. In developing my own international Avatar, I spoke to each person as if they were a Linden, because they were around in resident identity as well, with the most helpful manner I could muster. You never knew and still don't know who your speaking with really. So in this spirit I always wanted to help others accomplish what they were trying to do. This led to these positions more than anything. But I love Art, and Rock & Roll to and I have been web casting since AOL. So combining my interests and experience this is what led me to be lucky enough to become involved with these organisations in SL.

Tea. Can you tell us a bit about Slartist and how it came about?
LaPiscean: Slartist started out as a domain only about the same time as Metanomics started out in SL, with Robert Bloomfield. I got the domain as part of a resource list I had made to develop a site for film community. The domain went unused or parked for years, until AviewTV had run its course with development, meaning outdated and new resources were required to meet the needs of community.

Tea. What do you like to do when you are not working in SL?
LaPiscean: When am I NOT working in SL? I DO love playing chess with friends and folks from around the globe. I also like cooking and working outdoors, weather permitting.

Tea. What is next for you for the rest of 2015?
LaPiscean: Basically finish up some development on some of the networks other sites such as https://aviewbox.com which is a file sharing site like dropbox or you send it., Also working on the next generation AviewTV at http://beta.aviewtv.com which you may log into now with existing AviewTV account name and password. In 2016 be we will be looking forward to producing/launching  http://aviewcart.com, which will be a 3D content, multivendor shopping site, where members will sell content. We want to build a network site for the opensim community as well with the domains http://hypergridtv.com and http://opensimtv.com Right now these domains point to Slartist.

Tea:  It looks as though we have a lot more too look forward too from AviewTV

A 4/20 Special Report…..Sunny Love Holiday Reporting

Today is 4/20/2015. As many of you know 4/20 is the unofficial weed day that pot heads always look forward to each year. Although many celebrate this holiday, not many know how this holiday got its start. Now that marijuana has been legalized in some states, I decided to give a brief history lesson on the weed day origins and give my views on the effects legal marijuana has had on both real life and second life.

There are many myths out there about how 4/20 got started, like 420 being a code police used when they caught people smoking weed, but I was able to track down the real story. Back in 1971, outside of San Rafael High School in San Rafael, California, four best friends known to everyone as The Waldos knew it was harvest time and got wind of the fact a coast guard member was unable to continue to tend to a big plot of marijuana plants. One of the mischievous teenagers decided it would be a great idea if they could go to the plot and grab some free buds.  All in agreement they made the plan to meet after school at 4:20pm to prepare for the robbery by smoking some of their best weed. They never found the plot but choose to continue to meet at 4:20pm every day to get high.

The meeting time took off and soon many were meeting to “match up”. One of The Waldos older brother was good friends with The Grateful Dead’s bassist and told the band about the cool trend. Soon after, the band allowed the group to pass out flyer to concert goers telling them to meet the next day at 4:20pm in designated areas to partake in some heavy smoking. Needless to say the rest is history.

Although the sale and consumption of marijuana is still a crime federally, 23 states have made is legal for medical proposes. 9 states are pending legislation to legalize it as well. Being that I live in a state that has legalize weed and a township that has decimalized it, I can attest to the fact that even though many people have a negative view on the medical use of weed, It really has help patients deal with pain, depression, anxiety, and other illnesses in a safer way the prescription pharmaceutical drugs.

One of my favorite success stories is about a young child that began to have severe seizures at 3 months old almost every day. After a few years of unsuccessful treatment and losing all ability to talk, walk, and eat, the family decided to try medical marijuana in the oil form. Within a year the child’s seizures lowered to about 2 or 3 times a month. She also regained her ability to talk and eat. Not only is she able to walk but she is riding bikes and enjoying her life as a kid. Now, if that doesn’t prove that weed really can be used to heal people then I don’t know what will.

I remember when I 1st started SL, before weed was legal, there were very few places you could go to buy joints or blunt. Matter of fact, my 1st sl joint was a free one a friend made due to the lack of realistic looking joints. I have notice that since the legalization and acceptance of weed, SL has a plethora of weed shops, clubs, weed themed clothing and very realistic joint, blunt, bongs, and hookahs. Some that actually gets your avie high. So if one would ask a stoner like me how do I feel about weed becoming legal, I would say that it is the best thing to ever happen in both worlds.

It’s 420! Do you Know the History and why it is associated with Pot Smoking?- Lanai Jarrico Reporting...

420 is a code for smoking marijuana and is also known as Weed Day to the cannabis culture. Some people believe 420 comes from a police code for smoking in progress but its true origin begins with a group of teenagers who called themselves the Waldos in San Rafael , California. They designated the Louis Pasteur Statue at San Rafael High School as their meeting place and 4:20pm was the time they would get together.

Today, April 20th is observed as a celebration of cannabis for all who like  recreational marijuana use. Today marijuana use is more accepted for recreational and medicinal purposes.

**

Legalization of Marijuana in some form is now in twenty-three states and the District of Columbia. Out of those 23 states, Colorado, Alaska, Oregon and Washington allow it for recreational use, while California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Montana, Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine limit it to medicinal use. There are now 100’s of dispensaries and some states have also removed legal penalty for procession of small amount of marijuana.

Top Reasons Why people smoke marijuana?
·         Medicinal qualities for pain, nausea
·         Stress relief/relaxation
·         Appetite
·         Peer pressure/role model influence
·         Social
·         Heightened sensory awareness
·         Euphoria

Short Term Effects
  • ·         Short term memory impairment
  • ·         Feelings of anxiety  and paranoia
  • ·         Appetite-“Munchies”
  • ·         Impairment operating machinery and vehicles

Long term use can lead to cardiac problems for people with heart disease and high blood pressure, memory and learning difficulty and increased susceptibility to infections. Fertility problems can occur for both men and women due to the suppression of hormones that regulate the reproductive system but will not lead to complete infertility.
The common question about Marijuana being addictive is still in debate.  Studies are finding that marijuana does have addictive properties. However, it is not as addictive as alcohol and cocaine but it can become a habit due to routine use.

Here are some warning signs to recognize if you or someone you know has a weed problem:
  • ·         Frequent use
  • ·         Needing more to feel the effects
  • ·         Spending beyond your budge to obtain it
  • ·         Procrastinating on important things in life
  • ·         Neglecting friends who do not use marijuana
  • ·         Feeling that you cannot function without it

Education about marijuana is important if you are part of the Cannabis culture. If  you are going to observe 420, have fun but smoke responsibly.

Breaking News! SL Weed Dispensary Gets Stood up by unknown assailants! 500L Reward

April 20th, 2015- In the early morning hours of April 19th, two unidentified assailants entered CannabiSL Central and approached the dispensary clerk at prim point. According to evidence gathered from surveillance, the female appears to be the stronghold as her accomplice searched the clerk’s pockets before proceeded to load pounds of marijuana into the back of a multi colored EL Camino before they sped off through the grid. One witness said she was cussed at and violently pushed to the ground by the aggressive female criminal and then helped up by the male accomplice.  Suspects made off with 10 pounds of exotic marijuana such as Yellow Amnesia, Psychosis Cheese, TripleProof BlueMoonshine and Beast Mode. In additions to the weed heist, damages to a flamingo lawn ornament, a soda machine, one slice of pizza from a nearby pizza box and rolling paper were reported stolen. In total, damages exceed over 20,000L.

If anyone has any information or know the names of the two suspects please email lanaijarrico@gmail.com for a 500L reward!

*Please note this is a parody weed day police report for entertainment purposes only. No marijuana plants, flamingo law ornaments or avatars were hurt in the making of this report. However the 500L reward is real to anyone who recognizes those avatars!

An Educational Tour of the US Holocaust Memorial Museum: Kristallinacht- Nena Dreadlow Reporting

The Holocaust was the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of over six million Jews by the Nazi regime and its collaborators. This happened between 1941-1951 Holocaust means “Sacrifice by fire”  The nazis came in power on January 1933.  They believed that they were superior to the Jews.  Jews were moved to concentration camps by train where most of them died.   Before any of this took place the “Kristallnacht took place.  Here you will find out what that means and how it plays a big part in the holocaust history.

When I first came to the Holocaust Museum I knew one day I would love to write about it and am very honored to be able to do so.  The Holocaust is such a big part of history and everyone should know about it. I was glad that second life was able to show some things that took place so that we could get an idea of the terror that went on in that time and educate us.
Can you imagine having to go through all that or what it felt like to not be able to do certain things just because of who you were? This Museum Focuses on "Kristallnacht" also called "Night of the broken class".

When you first walk into the museum, you enter a classroom. I would recommend that your sound and video is on at all times. It is an interactive museum and it makes the experience more realistic. In the classroom be sure to touch each of the bulletins boards as they will tell give you information about some of the things that took place.

On November 9-10 1938 rioters destroyed synagogues, businesses, cemeteries, hospitals, schools and homes and killed at least 91 Jewish people.  It is called "night of the broken class" because of all the glass that was all over the streets. To get to the next area of the museum you must find the glowing folder. It leads to a wall that opens up to the city.

This city was replicated on accounts by some of the survivors of the Kristallinacht. The streets are lined with books and glass. The first thing you see is a store where at that time Jews had to put their names on their windows. Nazis would smash and destroy all their goods and would loot almost everything.  Later on the stores were closed and not allowed to be reopened unless run by a Non-Jewish.

There were many families affected by this tragedy.  The museum tells the story of the Hilsenraths family. They were just a regular family who owned a linen store. They had 3 children.  Like all of the Jewish children, Susan who is the oldest had to leave the school. Months later Susan and her brother where smuggled into France. You can hear the voice of Susan talking about her experience. How would you feel to have to be moved away from your parents and away from the home you ever have known? Her story will pull at your heart string.

On November 9 1938 months before the synagogues were demolished the Nazis destroyed the interiors of the synagogues and desecrated religious objects.  All over Germany, including Austria was vandalized, looted and destroyed.  In the museum they made a replica of one of the synagogues where you can observe how it would look after being destroyed. It is sad to know that the place where they prayed where thought of as nothing but trash.

Jewish children were expelled from German public schools after Kristllnacht.  Even the Jewish schools where closed. It is just sad that these children were not able to get an education just because they were Jewish. Not only where they banned from schools but also banned from museums, playgrounds, swimming pools and other places.

Visiting the Museum is such a somber experience that everyone needs to come to at least once here on second life. It is sad to know that human beings had to go through such horrific things. The purpose of this museum is to show a glimpse into what took place in the beginning of a very tragic event and help prevent history from repeating itself with senseless act of terror and crimes against humanity.

Let’s Use the Power of Second Life to help these children! – Sherlynn Donner’s Fundraiser Event- April 22nd 2015 7-9pm SLT

There are many fundraisers in Second Life that collect donations for Relay for Life and other illnesses and diseases.  Throughout the years residents of Second Life have shown massive amounts of support and donated their time and money to help others around the world.

Sherlynn Donner’s story will pull at your heartstrings.  Often we do not hear the individual stories of those that lost their battle with breast cancer but they all include leaving behind family and loved ones who continue to suffer their lose. What happens to the surviving children of Breast Cancer?

Many times their lives are dramatically changed and they are raised by one parent or family members. Some even go into foster care because there is no one else who can care for them.  If we can do something to ease the pain and make a difference in the lives of these children, we should.

 Here is Sherlynn Donner’s story:
Sherlynn Donner lost her fight with breast cancer this morning and we lost an angel : (
Sherlynn was Ms. October 2008 and became a photographer for Playmates Magazine and Boy Toy in 2009.  Because of her generosity, Playmates stayed open during a very rough time, so we all have her to thank that Playmates is still in publication. She was one of my best friends in SL.  She had a wild sense of humor and a heart of gold.

Sherlynn was a single mother of 3.  Her ex-husband left her and moved back to his home country and she never heard from him again and never had financial support for her kids.

Now they are left without a mother. They are 17, 15 and 12.  She spent the last month of her life in a hospice and we spoke on the phone just 2 weeks ago.  Her biggest concern was leaving her kids behind without any money.  Sherlynn was an only child and both her parents have passed away.  Her last wish was for her kids to remain in their home with the oldest raising the 2 younger ones.

PLEASE Donate.  Even if it's $20L.  It is something.  These kids need our help.  All donations will be sent to Sherlynn's oldest daughter.  Thank you for your help!

AVIE POLL: Which Charities do you support?- Debby Sharma Reporting...

“Charity begins at Home, and justice begins next door.”
~ Charles Dickens

While speaking to one of the respondents, I said, “Someone somewhere will benefit from the little we donate today.” The satisfaction that I have given a part of me towards something that will benefit monetarily to somebody gives me immense pleasure. Half of my salary in real life, goes towards charity. It does not matter that it is in Second Life.
The other day, a small boy of just 18 years old who has just graduated high school was wondering with his “thela” selling food. When I came to know of his aspirations to get his MBA, I offered my help in coaching him for free.

Irrespective of what he makes, I make sure to buy food from him every day. It may not be called charity. But this motivates other people in my locality to buy food from him as well, increasing his sales and his daily income. In Second Life, a group of Indians have formed a new team called 4mE – Vents Out, team 93 help fundraiser for Relay For Life of Second Life.
So, travelling through SL, I asked residents if they trust charities in Second Life, if yes, which charities they trust and why. Here are the opinions and responses of few of the residents.

Athena Rose Boom (Miss Royal Israel of Miss Royalty Organization): Well I only trust two charities; one would be Relay for Life and the other would be the Breast Cancer Awareness. I have been a part of a charity event for Feed America which included the website to show proof the money wasn't just going somewhere else. But Relay for Life and BCA (Breast Cancer Awareness) would be my two top choices and I trust them because I also take part in those charities in real life so I do donate in SL what might be a dollar or five dollars, but I'm an active person in real life with the charities. So I do know where the money is going and I love to meet new people and to see their hearts to help others, to remember them and to encourage the ones still with us. That's why I trust Relay for Life and BCA.

Christian Carlsson (Co-owner at The Torch Entertainment Guide): Yes, I do trust two charities, they are Survivors of Suicide, which I trust because I have seen their work with psychiatric healthcare and suicide prevention and Relay For Life, because their control is very strict and I have personally talked to officials from American Cancer Society that confirmed the legality of the charity.

Moeko Tatekana (Owner of a yet to release publication): As long as they are well-known and I can find out about them independent of SL, then yes.  I always happily support charitable work within SL. The main one that springs to mind is Relay for Life.  However, there was an event a while back for the charity SOPHIE - The Sophie Lancaster Foundation.  This is a charity that aims to educate the public about those that perhaps are alternative, i.e. Goth, punk, etc.  It was established when Sophie Lancaster was killed trying to defend her boyfriend who had been attacked for looking different. Cancer charities are very close to my heart as my mother died of ovarian cancer.  So if I see something supporting any kind of cancer research, I'm keen to support and LGBT charities too.

Robert Galland (Owner of Galland Homes): I've dealt with quite a few events that have charitable goals, the largest probably having been the Home and Garden Expo. I've been a premium sponsor of that event on multiple occasions and have always trusted that the organizers had the right intentions. Nothing has ever happened to shake my trust in those people or others, like those who organize an SL presence for One billion rising as another example. I believe there are a lot of trustworthy efforts out there and if there's a few who act inappropriately, that doesn't affect my thoughts on charity in SL at all.

Rose Uros (owner of Miss Royalty Organization): That's a great question. It can be hard to know which to trust. Charities I have trusted is #1 Relay for Life which is if not the biggest charity in SL. Others are Models Giving Back, Rock your Rack, MVW winner's charities (example: Fashion for Change). Wounded Warriors which is done monthly by USA veterans and active duty in SL. Trusting the people who run the charity helps make it easier for me to donate big amount of linden. Great example is one done by Models Giving Back (Toys for Tots) during Christmas. I saw none really donated in that big crowd and that got me upset because #1 It's Christmas #2 Why isn't anyone wanting to help children?.They had set it up like an auction but I didn't care for the prize. I easily donated 5k. That's something a big donator should look out for. When no one is really helping you have to be the one to step up. In the end it's not about the prize or getting 15mins of fame. It's about helping real people in need. I personally don't know of anyone that's done anything bad in name of charity. It's been all good since 2011 (noob days) for me. I hope to continue so with opening charities with my organization. The people in the country my parents were born in live in poverty. So, every Thanksgiving the community does this mega event to help raise money. We raised $10 million and with that it helped them a lot in many ways.

Ruby Ornamental (model participant at Colors of Couture pageant): I trust Relay For Life of Second Life. I trust fashion for change. It is new yet I trust on account of the organization supporting it in SL.

Giving to charity whether it is in the real world or in Second Life improves self- being and provides a sense of purpose in life. Being on the receiving end of charity improves the quality of life for those in need. No matter what end of charity you are on it reminds us all how important a good deed is.

What's Hot in the Breedables Trade for Spring- CeciliaRosalie Reporting…

Since I discovered my passion for writing, SLE has been my home. Most of the subjects I usually cover are about fashion and styling but this time I’ll grab the opportunity to write about something different. Breedable animals in SL have made a breakthrough. They have become  a spare time activity and a fun way to earn a living. The first kind of breedable I remember is the amaretto horses but since then there have been several new kinds of breedable animals discoveries in Second Life.

As I firstly mentioned horses, let me present you the ABC horses. There are several things that make these horses a bit different than any other breedable in Second Life. They look and act a lot like real life horses do. When you first start breeding you get a FREE starter pack, after you have registered to their database. Each horse will live until it reaches 140 days, after that period of time they can be kept as a pet, sent to heaven ranch for points or it can be shot.

Keep in mind that these pets do not need food. Starter horses are more like tools, despite the fact that the look like a horse, walk like a horse etc, they are just tools. Starter Horses will be used to get information from the gene pool. The most amazing for me is that there are no bundles, what you get is alive newborn foals, which they have to stay near to their mother for a short period of time. Apart from the usual traits (coats, manes, eyes or tails) there are others also, which can be passed on too, such as speed. If you are not fancy of the breeding process don’t worry, you can train your horse and teach different skills like pull, speed or vitality and take part in racing competitions.

As for their food, coastal hay is to be used for the horse’s basic needs, alfalfa is to be used for breeding, to sustain a pregnant or a nursing mother and for training the pull skill. Feed is to be used for training any other racing skill except pull.

There are also several consumables which will give a boost to their stats.
ABC horses have built a really strong market, they organize daily auctions in their own auction houses and last but not least there are many places where you can buy or sell horses. More info and pricing can be found here: http://www.awesomebreedcreations.com/index.html

Next I will cover zooby breedable lemurs. Zooby takes the lead once again with this unique breedables. Start off with buying your starter pack with everything you need to breed your lemurs. Starters and newborns come in a den and they’ll stay like that until you wake them up through their menu. They will start breeding once their hover text is yellow and in full heat.
You can choose pet food or breedable food. A lemur can be turned into a pet at any time except if they are pregnant and again they can breed again with a simple click. Keep in mind that it takes seven days until a pet lemur can breed again. Additional consumables to boost stats can be purchased at zooby main store too.

When lemurs are rezzed on land they randomly dig and they might discover glowing white stones which you can click on in order to  reveal what they are. Glowing stones can be either gems or junk. Gems come in primary colors and white, you can mix and match gems to play the lemur gem game.

The diamond gem is the most valuable as it contains a special trait. Once assigned, this trait can be passed on. Lemurs like any other breedable animal have a variety of traits in their genetics. What fascinating about  these animals is that they can be fully customized to your taste as there's a huge variety of accessories to choose from.

At any point you can send a lemur or a den to the Sanctuary to receive Sanctuary points which can be redeemed for lemur items at the store. It is a growing market and good investment as it is the first of its kind. There are also many advertising groups and auctions! I chose to conclude this article with an animal that isn’t of this world for the fantasy lovers. Mossms are little funny space creatures that have come to Earth in order to gather certain resources that are in short supply on their planet. In order to mate they’ll need to return in space but mossms have to work to pay their own expenses. Each newborn mossm possesses general genetics from its parents and the planet they were born on,  but keep in mind space exploration may cause genetic anomalies, which may result in a different and unique breed. These animals are alive, they can recognize you and other avatars, you are visible to them and they can interact with both avies and other mossms.

Mossms can’t mate with family members, feature that I found to be very realistic. When born, mossms are given scientific names are closely associated with their appearance. They work in different environments earn resources, where they can earn resources. These can be exchanged either for babies or used to buy additional environments. Starter pack comes with a nursery environment and one or two adult environments. The best aspect of this breeding game is that thanks to mossms advance technology, what they can do inworld can be done on the web too. Forget land restrictions!

Feeding your mossms is piece of cake. The food is stored in your online account at mossms.com. Just rez the food and that's it, the moment you rez the food your account will be credited for the amount of food you bought. All of your Mossms share the food supply. Your first two mossms don’t require any food at all.

Any additional mossms, including those kept in inventory, will eat ten portions of food per day. If they are not fed beware that they will abandon you and return to space.
As it is said before, the more different a breedable animal is the most buying power it has. You can trade your mossms online on their website or in different inworld locations.

If you are new to breedables in Second Life, take your time and browse the variety . Find what will best suit your time, budget and rp needs.
