SPORTS & LEISURE- GOHA Opening Weekend- Stacey Cardalines Reporting...

GOHA has many fine rinks, and I've flown above several of them while weraing a skirt...
Staff Reporter
• Monday, August 30, 2010
I don't know about you... but when someone says "August," I think "ice hockey."

However, I was pleased and psyched to attend the opening weekend affair hosted by the Global Online Hockey Association.

GOHA is entering their 11th season or so, and have grown impressively since I first visited their rink as a noob avvy. They now have multiple arenas, TV coverage, a gang of teams, North American and European divisions, and every other item you might see at a real hockey game. I've even driven the Zamboni!.

Of course, it's better for all parties if they keep me from driving the Zamboni too much. I drive poorly, to the point where my husband drives everywhere IRL. This carries over to SL, and I have an ugly history of smashing stock cars into the audience and driving motorcycles off the edge of various sims.

I also don't skate very well, which is tough for a New Englander to admit. Out of all the people you know who have habitually skated on a frozen cranberry bog as a child, I have the least skill. I'm one of those girls who not only falls down when I skate, but who takes two or three more proficient skaters with me when she does so.

But I'm very pretty, and I have terrific thighs... maybe top 5 on SL, no joke. Therefore, I make a superb cheerleader, especially where I'm small and not that painful to have on top of a pyramid. When I found out that the Puckettes existed, I knew I had my niche in GOHA.

I was a hockey cheerleader in high school. Yes, they have those in New England (and probably Michigan, I'd imagine). We didn't do any flips or anything- we were stationed in the bleachers. We'd just stomp, yell, and clap. It required no skill at all.

My principal responsibilities as a high school hockey cheerleader were to Be Pretty and to Try To Keep Warm. My typical attire was a sweater, a green (we were the Green Dragons) tartan skirt, tights, snow boots, a scarf, and mittens. A skeleton showed more skin than I did, our backs were to almost all of the crowd (coach had us facing the rink, for some reason), and only the most ardent cheerleader fetishist bothered to watch us.

The Puckettes thought things through a little better, and I'm proud to be a part of the team. We put in some work this weekend, let me tell you. GOHA is part of the Camonix(?) sim, which is all about winter sports. Chamonix had their welcome party this weekend. It was that little promo item you see while you're logging into SL, pretty much all weekend.

I cheered at 2 full games, did two Puckette performances, and greeted about 500 people, and committed about 6 hours of a Saturday to the cause... and I was a slacker compared to some of the Puckettes.

Anyhow, here's the address to the sim (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Cross%20Check/153/118/61), and here's GOHA's schedule:

There are a lot of contest going on in Second Life, from treasure hunts to best in whatever theme Contest hosts can think of but what separates this contest from all the others, is the fantastic prizes, unbiased judging panel , the attention to detail and fairness along with great customer service. Something that is hard to find all in one place.

Sports & leisure- Jersey Girl- Stacey Cardalines Reporting...

SFL #1 Overall Draft Pick Adrenaline Auster...
GOHA news, SFL Draft on TV, and Stacey flirting her way to 100 sports jerseys....

I am the SL Enquirer Sports Editor. This avocation leads me into many different realms, some of which have cool uniforms.

I like to collect them. I used to buy them, but I soon realized that God made me this cute for a reason... and if that reason isn't to get free stuff, getting free stuff will keep me busy until I figure out what the reason is.

I worked through the Global Online Hockey Association already. Whales, Storms, Wolves... if it skates, I have the jersey. I'm also gathering SFL jerseys, but it amuses me to get them one at a time.

A lot of people see me wearing my GOHA jerseys, and they ask me where they, too, can get one. The answer is here:

Dubai Jazz-My Way: Milla Rasmuson's dream in SL

Staff Reporter
• Monday, August 23, 2010
Milla Rasmuson is a virtual business woman, whose businesses in SL all share one thing in common; They are really more of a services offered store than a place to purchase physical items.

She’s a fashion designer both in RL and SL: she creates model and mainstream cloths.

She discovered SL in 2007, reading an article about it that made her curious what SL was all about so she signed in.

From the beginning she was amazed about the live musicians performing in SL and thought, let her do something in the live music scene in SL.

I had the pleasure of chatting with Jack Belvedere, the El Jefe of the Global Online Hockey Association.

GOHA has been around for 11 seasons, and is the premier hockey federation on SL. Several teams playing in several arenas, with TV coverage and cheerleaders... and yours truly is one of the cheerleaders. 'Tough to beat that, Hoss.

I recommend GOHA to not only anyone looking to play hockey on SL, but to anyone who just wants to try out a sport.

On to the chatting...

Entertainment Review- THUMBS DOWN- What is Up with the Strip Clubs Lately?!? I’m going to have to find a new Hobby. ~Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

Staff Reporter
• Monday, August 23, 2010
Hitting the Strip club with a pack of wild girls used to be one of my favorite past times in Second Life. The guys were hot, sexy and emoted like no one’s business.

With my workload keeping me pretty busy, it has been a while since I showed some love to the guys who work the pole for some lindens.

It seems like all the good ones are long gone and the clubs are hiring temp workers or something. <

I won’t mention the name of one of the clubs I decided to step into, and for good reason.
I was totally unimpressed by these guy’s skills. Its one thing to be able to slide up and down a pole looking all sexy, but dam anybody can grab up a pole and give it a whirl. All I know is, these greased up boy toys need to step it up in the emote department.

FASHION: Get your Sexy on - Lacy Muircastle Reporting ...

Aella from Black Lace
Staff Reporter
• Monday, August 23, 2010
All women love to feel sexy and sensual, and there is no easier way to feel sexy than to wear the most gorgeous lingerie you can lay your hands on. In Second Life amongst the leading lingerie stores are Black Lace by Mariska Simons, Angel Dessous by Nando Korobase, Insolence by Camilla Yosuke to name but a few.

Lingerie stopped being simply functional and became integral to fashion in the 1980’s.
Pop star Madonna sparked the trend in decidedly unvirgin-like bustiers and racy black bras worn as outerwear.  RL New York fashion guru Donna Karan also urged women to slip sexy body stockings under their power suits and play the dual role of boardroom boss-come-seductive siren.

Stacey tries out fencing...

One of the few benefits of the Gunpowder Age is that it eliminated the need for swordfighting. Priot to the gun, War was a grisly business where thousands of men cut and slashed each other to shreds.

Now, if somebody bores your dome with the 9mm pistol, it's going to kill you as surely as a battleaxe to the face will. War entails killing, and- to be quite honest- I wouldn't cede a yard of territory unless my opponent was able to best me at something more compelling than Thumb Wrestling or 1980s Trivia. Hence, warfare.

From what I can get out of my husband and off the TV, war entails a lot of snooping around and random firing. War is that way because the guys with the guns beat the guys with the s-words when they were deciding which style was better. That doesn't mean that the swordsman lacked style, though.

Lanai's Diary Entry- 8/16/2010- Back From Vacation & Ready to Roll- Lanai Jarrico Reporting...

Lanai’s Diary- Back from vacation and ready to roll.
It has been a week full of adventure and a well needed rest but this time it was a bit different. I didn’t get SLE Withdrawals. Instead I actually had a pretty decent vacation while the SLE family held it down.
I began my week with some day hiking in the Stix and lasted all but 2 days due to a boom bangin headache I got from not taking my Dramamine before the excursion.
While I was there at “Split Rock Resort” I didn’t get to throw horseshoes but I at least played some bingo while tearing up some extra sloppy chicken wings. I Even summed up enough courage to take part in a Literature & The Arts Trivia going on in the Pit Lounge after hiking up to the “Famous’ Split Rock. I wasn’t any good at Bingo as I watch little kids winning left and right. Let’s just say I didn’t win any ‘turtle bucks” from the trivia either but my adventures didn’t end there.
I spent a little bit of energy closed up in an all white racquetball room for a good 20 minutes until I was about to pass out. I should have filled out a guest request for padded walls and complimentary ben gay. I’d feel much better because waking up from a day of all that, my left shoulder, arm, back and my neck were killing me....

Musician Spotlight- Swina Allen's Italian mood in Second Life- Sandy Demina Reporting...

Staff Reporter
• Thursday, August 12, 2010
Swina Allen is an IT manager whose life has always gone with the music.
When he was 14 he bought his first Eko guitar and he started playing and writing his own music. He loves also playing keyboard and piano:he has an awesome 1920 's Hofman-Khune piano on whose ivory keyboard he took his first jazz piano lessons...but the guitar was always on his way. When electronic music was accessible to his pocket he bought his first Roland hardware sequencer and a Roland synth and arranger. Soon after he got a Yamaha like strato electric guitar with a 100 W Montarbo valve ampli. He love to work with software sequencers like FLStudio, Sonar or Cakewalk to produce his own music.
A couple of years ago he discovered the virtual stages in Second Life, where he has packed all the inworld venues where he performs. His love of the jazz/blues genre comes through in his melodic verses and smooth rhythms.
He only performs original tunes but sometimes he sings in his own way some greatest tunes:Springsteen's "Devils and Dust" and Sergio Endrigo's "Io che ho amo solo te" or Ivano Fossati's "Il bacio sulle labbra" among his favourites.

SPORTS & LEISURE- SFL DRAFT: Stacey Cardalines Reporting...

SPORTS & LEISURE- SFL DRAFT: Stacey Cardalines Reporting...
#1 overall pick Adrenaline Auster, of the Polano Chargers...
The first two rounds of the SFL Draft were held last night at the SFL Headquarters.

The draft was SL big time. Carlito and I were not the only reporters there, nor was SLE the only media represented. They had a stage, an owners area, and a press area. Players were shuttled back to talk to the press after they were drafted. Very organized.
My mock draft was good, amazingly so. My number 2 overall pick ended up going first, and I had guessed 13 of the 23 first round picks (although not which team took them, granted)... not bad for someone who basically sat in the bleachers in a short dress.
Several teams passed on drafting. Maybe they had IRL stuff to do. I know I had to do some marital gymnastics when telling my husband that I was going to ignore him for 4 hours so I could basically cover a Madden draft. Fortunately, the Red Sox were playing the Yankees, so I got out of it for beer and pizza. Unfortunately, the Yankers won.
I'll let Carlito analyze the draft- he had some good observations while we were talking during the 4 hour event, while I spent the last three hours looking for cocaine. I'll just tell you who went where.

SPORTS & LEISURE- SFL MOCK DRAFT: Stacey Cardalines Reporting...

Hurricane Diesel and the Raiders stadium were good enough to host the SLE mock draft...
The SFL Draft is this Sunday, at the SFL Headquarters somewhere. But the SLE Mock Draft is right here, in your greedy little hands.

The SFL is set to kick off her inaugural season, and SLE has it all covered. Not only will you have me dancing into the topic from time to time, but you'll have Carlito Praga, a full-time SFL beat writer. That's a lot of avatar-based coverage right there, folks.
My job today is to attempt the impossible... forecast how all 32 SFL teams will select players in the first round of the SFL Darft.
I've been lurking and newtworking and scouting and gossiping and flirting and whatever else I had to do to gain the keen pigskin insight which I will now flex before you today.
Know that I'm guessing what position each guy will be playing. Players may even play offense and defense for all I know. I looked at all the men standing together, and the bigger ones end up in the mock draft trenches. If I have them as a quarterback, it means I saw them throwing a ball. Beyond that, the players play whatever position matches the player info I thought up.
And I know what you're thinking.... "How will Stacey know what teams are picking in what order? The SFL guards that information very closely. You're snuffed at the goal line, b*tch!"
No.

LANAI'S DIARY- Entry- 8-5-2010

*blows the dust off my diary*

Wow, it sure has been a while since I've been able to pick up my virtual pen and do some writing about whatever comes to mind. For this Diary entry, I would have to say, I have absolutely no clue at the moment where to begin my ramble. So in this case, I’ll just do some automatic writing and see what happens…

In My RL

A lot has gone down these past 2 months. I've been reacquainting with old friends, catching up with family at our reunion and hosting a few loud ass Puerto Rican BBQ/domino parties at my house. Besides that, I’m a full time college student and I just took my finals for 2 courses this week before moving on to the next set of courses. With all that going on, this summer sure has been busy in every direction I look.

I’m relieved to say that I am finally going away on vacation for one week. This city girl is being taken to the stix aka the mountains. Just Imagine that hot mess of a situation. Last time I hiked a mountain, I was crying half way up sucking on a Mango while literally being pushed up the side by my superman. Not to paint an unflattering picture of myself, but that’s what happened. This time I’m going to the Poconos.

The good thing about this trip is that I can finally relax.

To play it safe this time, I plan on hunkering down along the bank of a creek with all the mosquito repellant and sun screen I can lather on, wear big shades and maybe even one of those floppy summer hats. I may even try throwing my back into fishing or something outdoorsy like that.

I’m really not the overly adventurous type, if left to my own device and my need for Dramamine.

I think I would stick to watching old episodes of Lost on Netflix, playing mini golf or maybe even getting bold enough for group horseshoe throwing. What else is there to do in the mountains?

IN MUSIC- JooZz Magic's brilliant sound in Second Life - Sandy Demina Reporting...

Staff Reporter
• Monday, July 26, 2010
JooZz is a Dutch musician, who started his musical career at the age of six. Playing the recorder first, which was replaced by the piano a year later. First band was formed at high school and ever since JooZz is deeply in love with Music.
In 1982 he entered the Rotterdam Conservatory, but family business needed him badly. Now, a few years later, it's Music Time again. Time for a second career...and hey, a Second Life as well !

The music of JooZz is best described as “coming from nowhere, going places”. Starting from scratch, JooZz takes you along to many exciting musical destinations, transferring breathtaking vistas into jewels of brilliant sound. Sometimes danceable, always rich, spiked with healthy doses of melancholy and lessons of life. Using the piano as a base point of reference, JooZz’s compositions, independent of any music style, keep your mind in motion until the next time you hit the ‘play’ button.

Style and image, so what is yours?

Style is a deeply personal expression of who you are and every time you dress, you are asserting a part of yourself. Image is the foundation of visual credibility, personal presence and non-verbal communications. Research has shown that when you project an image of confidence, you are more likely to succeed both professionally and socially.

I want to hear from you, let’s put a style and image list of essentials together. I’ll make suggestions as to mine and you add to it or tell me why I am wrong. So not necessarily trendy items, but items that can survive season after season, that have seen you through thick and thin, items you can always turn to with confidence. Items that alternately comfort you when you are down after a rough day and that in turn boost your confidence to greater heights when you are feeling great after a fulfilling day. Items that have a place in your heart, and things that represent the yin and yang of your personal style.

We all know fashion fads come and go, but inevitably there are those items that are always part of the rotation.

Stacey wore her best t-shirt to the biggest interview of her animated career
AN INTERVIEW WITH SFL FOUNDER ROMEO TORVALAR

When people find out I'm a sportswriter, they invariably ask me about the same two or three topics. Cheerleading and wrestling come up a lot, as guys like those concepts when related to my pretty little avatar. The other question I get is "NFL style football," which has nothing to do with my looks.
Well.... scratch THAT one off the list. The majesty of SL has given birth to the SFL.

SPORTS & LEISURE- Oil Spill Zombie Rabbit Apocalypse- Stacey Cardalines Reporting...

... a Smurf's eye view of Stacey watching an oil spill
What with that oil spill in the real-life Gulf of Mexico, a person needs Second Life to get away from reality to.

Unless you have my job... then you end up at an oil spill. What's worse, it's also a Zombie Rabbit Apocalypse...
because, as you know, thAT when bunnies get motor oil on them, they grow to be 8 feet tall and crave human blood.... sort of like the Nesquik Bunny with Riger Clemens' steroid use and the diet of Godzilla.

I went to the Oil Spill Zombie Rabbit Land sim today. It's right here:

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Kalvatar/194/141/22

Unfortunately, I went during the daytime, whenthe Zombie bunnies are sleeping. There sure is a hell of an oil spill happening there, although the adjoining nightclub or nearby suburban Manor development were not at all slowed by it.

Not much was happening... which may have been lucky for me, as I have enough problems fighting humans who aren't superpowered by a bath in crude oil. Sims take a while to get going, but I'd rather be a healthy writer with no story than a Pulitzer Prize winner with qa gigantic zombie bunny wound.

I did meet an executive from the oil company, who told me that everything was under control.

I tried to get the owner for an interview, but I keep odd hours. I also have a goofy monitor, and have trouble in dark sims. If you want to snoop around there, I get the sense that you may find something worse than I found.

MUSICIAN SPOTLIGHT-Azriahl Alternative Rock- Sandy Demina Reporting...

Staff Reporter
• Monday, July 12, 2010
Ontario native Kevin Kennedy (also known as Azriahl) brings a knife's edge to his solo acoustic performance as well as power and command in full band format. This is not the usual strumming balladeer. Soulful curios sifted from post-grunge rubble combine with his earthy candor to create rich songs and lyrical imagery. As broad as his northern home land, Azriahl's influences span the edgy rock of Alice in Chains, introspect of Radiohead, and gives a respectful nod to storytellers like Bob Dylan.
More than a decade behind the microphone has given Kevin an easy going but seasoned stage presence that engages his audience. He has the experience and instinct to absorb a crowd's energy and give it back in his performance. He thrives on it in fact and lively performances and approachability make Azriahl a crowd favorite anywhere he goes.

Typically, Azriahl’s sound falls into “Hard Rock Alternative”, and is always adding to his list of original songs as well as personalizing covers to breathe fresh life into inspiring tracks. As a band, they love outdoor festivals and gatherings, willing to place their music into the hearts and minds of anyone in attendance.
Azriahl after 2 years and half of live performance in Second Life is not so much inworld as before. However I've been lucky to catch him on line and so he kindly responded to my usual little virtual interview...

I spent a better part of Friday attending charity events. They were held in areas ranging from a wrestling ring to a sailboat race. All for a good cause, as we say.
A friend of mine named Sea Gypsy has run into some IRL difficulty. She just lost her home, and doesn't have the money to keep up her SL house. Her friends banded together to help her out with the virtual house. It's the least we could do.
I attended the sailing race, although I didn't sail. Me on a sailboat is an ugly thought, and I'd most likely have fouled up the more serious sailors. I stayed on-shore, took some pictures, and that most likely worked out for the best.
