Lumiya: The Second Life© viewer for Android devices – Stareyes Galaxy reporting ....

Android, Lumiya, second life, Stareyes Galaxy, Third Party Viewers

Aside
from the usual way of connecting to Second Life © (SL) on a personal computer,
applications are available for connecting on the grid via mobile devices. SL
Enquirer has previously reported on Pocket Metaverse for the iOS; now we will
look into the Android OS and the Lumiya application. Stareyes Galaxy got herself
the application and went out to test it on SL.
There
are many times in life when I might want to stay in touch with my SL friends
while having no access to a computer. Often, in public places, WiFi is
available for free and sitting down with a cup of coffee having a chat with
friends could easily be done with a mobile phone.
Lumiya
is an authorized third-party viewer (TPV) for mobile Android devices. The TPV
list for Android includes two other viewers as well, “LittleSight” and “Mobile
Grid Client” but Lumiya seems to be more prevalent than the other two among
Android users. Lumiya can be found in
the “Google Play” store and it costs USD 3.46 to download. The client is 5.20
Mb in memory, so it is really a light weight application.

Halloween
or the "All Hallows' Evening" is near! And so is the time for making jack-o'-lanterns and dressing up for Halloween parties, but do you know the real story behind this holiday?
This is an old Irish myth about a man "Stingy Jack." Stingy Jack once invites the Devil to have a drink with him and tricks the devil to turn himself into a coin. Jack puts the coin into his pocket with a silver cross. The devil could not change back into his original form till he promised Jack that he would not bother him for one year and if should Jack die, he would not claim his soul.
Come next year, Jack again tricks the devil into climbing into a tree to pick fruit and carves a sign of the cross into the tree's bark so the devil could not come down until he promised Jack not to bother him for ten more years.
Soon after, Jack dies. God would not allow such a cheat into heaven. The devil, being upset with Jack and keeping his word not to claim his soul, wouldn’t allow Jack into hell. He sends Jack off into the dark night with only a burning coal to light his way. Jack put the coal into a carved-out turnip and as the legend goes, roams the Earth with ever since. This ghostly figure came to be known as "Jack of the Lantern," and then, simply "Jack O'Lantern."
In Ireland and Scotland, people carved scary faces into turnips or potatoes. In England, large beets were used. Immigrants from these countries brought the Jack o' Lantern tradition with them when they came to the United States. They soon found that pumpkins, a fruit native to America, make perfect jack-o'-lanterns.
There
are many ways to celebrate the ghostly spirit of Halloween in SL ! Here are a few
ways..

Did anyone imagine twenty years ago that the existence of a
virtual world would be possible?
The world has changed so much in the past
decades. Science has made great strides, laws on Equality and Human Rights were
created, technology has raised sharply making the world smaller and bringing
people closer. Yet, much ink is still expended on Discrimination, Prejudice and
Racism, three words that bring people apart. Is this multicultural virtual
world called Second Life a Utopia regarding this subject?
Discrimination, prejudice and racism are concepts that merge
for their cause-effect relationship. All three are grounded on stereotypes that
generate social malaise. While Prejudice
stems from preconceived negative judgments on people and their beliefs and
behaviors, Discrimination is an unfair or unequal treatment given to a person
based on prejudice related to religion, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation,
gender, physical or mental disability, nationality, among others. Racism, on the
other hand, expresses a set of theories and beliefs that establish racial and
ethnic hierarchies, superior and inferior races, resulting in Intolerance, hostile
feelings and attitudes.

Celtic attire of the past was all made out of
materials that, unfortunately, broke down over the centuries.
These materials,
such as linen and wool, made for many spectacular articles of clothing, which
can only now be re-constructed from information found on stone carvings, and in
stories and written descriptions. Celtic clothing has of course been changed by
modern hands, and there are many variations on the types of clothing that was
worn centuries ago.
An interview with Tiana (azhdeen wirefly) ; a Scot gal into Celtic
fashion who in spite of an RL battle with her heart, has found a good mix in
life, business and partying in SL.

DATING IN THE WORKPLACE ON SECONDLIFE- Nomad Aries Reporting...

There are a lot of places to meet people in Second Life and one of the most popular places to meet is the workplace because The that is an easy place to meet someone and make a connection.
Sometimes, a couple who have been dating or
are partnered figure they get along so well that they will enter into a business
together or work together but is it the
best idea?
There are many opportunities
on Second Life that allow for couples to work together, however , workplace
relationships are one of the biggest reasons businesses in Second Life fail. I
personally have witnessed this many times and recently, one of the biggest and
oldest clubs in SL closed because of a personal relationship that ended. It is
actually the second time this club went down because of a personal relationship
that ended. Most of my experience working for businesses owned and operated by
romantically involved people working together has not been positive. It would
not be an exaggeration to say sometimes it was a nightmare.
Why do people choose to work with their significant other? Can it work?

On Saturday October 19th, a panel of legal experts (real-life attorneys) met at the Rose Theatre, Angel Manor in Second Life to discuss the changes to the Second Life Terms of Service instituted in August this year. The point of the exercise was to address questions on the matter and clear up some of the confusion that has resulted from these changes.I was unable to attend the meeting myself but Inara Pey (one of SL's foremost bloggers) has put together a detailed account of the proceedings, the link to which is below.

It is most enlightening and thank you Inara for taking the time to put this information together.

Pol Arida, not your everyday musician - Lacy Muircastle reporting ...
Listen to this ….
War Zone - urban love story
Did you listen to the words?
If you didn't go back and listen again!!
Did you relate to what he was singing about? You should have, haven’t we all had
experiences of one kind or another that equate to feeling like you are in a
war zone in our relationships?
This is Pol Arida. Pol
writes much of his own music and has been known to put his own unique spin onto
cover versions of well-known songs, but it his hammering guitar playing technique
that has set him apart, it is quoted as being a ‘unique percussive style’ . Clearly though he has a gift in the writing
of lyrics …. I personally absolutely
love the hammering guitar – it is highly emotive. Pol has a dynamic stage presence and
interacts with his audience very naturally.
He epitomises the reputation the Scottish have for their warmth and
friendliness. His style of music is highly addictive.

Northeast outflow of Dire Strait, offering residents of the estate many more open
water sailing opportunities.
From that location it’s a quick sail North to Corsica, South to Blake Sea, or
Southwest to Bingo Strait, Nautilus City, and Satori continent.

In Second Life whatever your interest is you can be sure
to find a sim or a few sims dedicated to it. Sci-fi in Real Life is a topic which
once in your life you will either have had a discussion on or have generally
chatted about with friends.
Why? Due to the fact it is the unknown and no one person
knows how it came about or what life form if any really exists.
In Second Life you will find sims dedicated to creating a
RP sim for those of us who would like to re-inact what it would be like to live
in deep space or way in the future where life has evolved just like the sci-fi
movies.
I will list a few RP sims that are available in Second
Life which will enable you to visit and see if this is the kind of RP you are
looking for in Second Life.

place for mistakes. The description of mistake is very clear: errors in

prone to error. The human propensity to

platform tools make it hard not to make a mess, result in embarrassing and

I landed at the front entrance
to the club, and was greeted with a primal message that immediately stopped me
from clicking away that silly blue pop-up box; “Welcome to The Velvet Lion,
where the darkness provides cover for our male dancers to hunt their
prey. For all their roaring, growling and ferociousness, are you brave
enough to enter the Lions Den of temptation?” I read the greeting
words again … and … <meowed>.
What’s written can be so
much more exotic than what’s seen … that was what I was thinking when I signed
up to visit Velvet Lion. How exciting could it be to see some males take
off their clothes and show me their prims? Haven’t we all seen noobs run
recklessly about vast Sim lands with pixel sticks haphazardly stuck on?

It was amazing to look around the
