The Scottish Highlands - Inverness revisited - Lacy Muircastle reporting ....

Sims come and go as we all know so it is always good to be able to report that some sims are in it for the long haul.  One such sim is The Highlands of Scotland.  I wrote a spot light on them back in 2012 and thought it would be good to revisit the Scottish themed sim.

Lauraclaire Benelli strives hard to make The Highlands of Scotland in SL replicate the Highlands in RL.

Current and Upcoming Fashion Shows and Competitions in Second Life- Tea Couturier Reporting...

In SL, there use to be a time when you were inundated with fashion shows to attend. Some shows were simple while others where more elaborate. It was hard to pick and sometimes your schedule would be booked solid with shows to attend.

In 2013 the fashion world changed.  It has become a platform for anyone to be a designer, which is good and now new names are getting through the fashion door instead of just peering in. However, as the fashion industry has changed so has the number of fashion shows being exhibited. Fashion competitions enable anyone who wants to be a model to enter and stand a good chance of winning even if they have not trained at the top SL modelling academy’s or fashion schools.

This charity event is in loving memory of Ribbons Magic who was called home on August 2, 2013. She was loved by many and is truly missed. The National Kidney Foundation was a charity close to her heart and offers guidance and counseling for those with kidney related health issues. All donations made during this event will be matched and a final donation will be made to the National Kidney Foundation.

The "Shape Doctor" of SL- DoctorKaren Kanto Reporting…

On my travels through SL, I happened upon an individual, Pertinax Greggan, whose profile caught my attention.

He professed to having some expertise with female shapes in SL and I just had to find out what that was all about. Prior to the interview, I asked him what he thought of my shape (this was made easier by the fact that we were both at a nudist sim at the time), and he offered several "corrections" that, when I tried them out, all were small but significant improvements that I have retained.

Karen: Your profile says you are a "Shape Doctor, making realistic female shapes as a sort of hobby, not to sell... I give them away!" What do you mean by "Shape Doctor"?

Pertinax: Well, there are positively hordes of women out there in SL who have tinkered with their own shapes and ended with results that are less than anatomically plausible, much less aesthetically pleasing. I draw photo-realistically in RL and, so I have a good eye for form and proportion. ((points to a drawing on his wall)) That is done with pencil and charcoal and some chalk... it loses something from the scan to SL, though.

On the evening of Saturday, September 21, 2013, many gathered at the Wynchester Hope City Open Venue and others listened on the Contest Stream as seven (7) wonderful singers graced us with their amazing talent.  Each contestant performed two songs for the six judges and live audience. When you first enter Second Life, your first point of call is the freebie shops. However, once you are a regular and have been in SL for over 3 months. I feel it is time for you to start looking at what you’re wearing and worrying about your appearance. Your appearance can reflect on you and your social life in SL. Remember, first impressions are important.

Bullying in Second Life Part 2- Nomad Aries Reporting…

This is the second part of my article on bullying. In part one I discussed the types of bullying you may encounter on Second Life as well as real life. 

There are many misconceptions about why some people turn into bullies. It is often said these are people with low self esteem and are loners. In studies done on bullying and bullies , this does not prove to be true. So what makes a bully a bully? 

Who is a Bully?
Bullies do not suffer from low self esteem as popularly believed. In a 2001 study (Baumeister) , it was discovered that bullies have extremely high self esteem. Although their esteem is high , it is pathologically high and unstable. If a bully feels slighted or insulted, the ego causes extreme negative feelings which the bully cannot tolerate. According to a later study from the University of South Dakota,( 2012 ), bullies lack function in an area of the brain that deals with moderating mood and emotions. For some reason yet to be discovered, bullies have low to no function of this area of the brain, it is thought that not being properly socialized at an early age prevents this part of the brain from functioning. This causes the bully to lash out at people in defense to preserve their feeling of superiority and control . Bullies have thought processes that differ from most people.

7 CONTESTANTS MOVE TO SL’s GOT TALENT CONTEST FINAL ROUND!- Announcing the Winners on September 22 @ 8 pm SLT

WOW!  WOW! WOW!  Round 2 of SL’s Got Talent left everyone speechless!  

The thirteen amazing performers showed they all have talent last night during Round 2.  It was just amazing! The Judges had a tough job as they collaborated during the event to select the Final Round contestants.  Audience voting occurred during the two hours following the event.  At the end of the day, the Judges made the decision as we publicized initially.  The contestants receiving the highest popular votes are as follows:

•    The Balladeer = 48 popular votes

•    Ricardo (rickylivemusic) = 28 popular votes

•    KokoIncognito = 21 popular votes

The judges' selection is based on a scoring process.  Each judge keeps his or her individual score on a scorecard that was provided by the Contest organizers.  Those scores are then averaged and contestants are selected accordingly.  Based on the judges' scoring during Round 2, the following contestants will move to the FINAL ROUND (in alphabetical order):
