AVIE POLL: Catching Avies off Guard – Glossom Resident Reporting

What If a stranger contacted you to ask you something that makes no sense? Would you ignore it, reply nonsense back or would you try to understand?  Are second lifers humorous or grumpy? To which side the scale weighs more?

The SLE’s PE (SL Enquirer’s Private Eye) took action on finding the answer to those questions and went around asking avatars some very off tilt questions to see if and how they would respond. The result was simply hilarious.

With a stained reputation and a big label on my forehead saying “Crazy”, I have a feeling of mission accomplished. Today avatars will login to a more confused and hopefully humorous Second Life.

Given the nature of this mission, we will keep the participants names anonymous. Sit back, enjoy and try not to laugh. I challenge you!

For those who are not familiar with the virtual world; Second Life, they are missing out on a phenomenal technological advancement that can be used in so many different ways.

 Many people may have the wrong idea that Second Life is just a game and for some virtual platforms it is. When an economy is introduced to the equation, such as in Second Life, it becomes a means of generating an income and expanding on business and projects that exist in the real world.

Second Life is a virtual world that was created by Linden Lab for the people by the people. Creative minds from all over the world create an avatar and participate in this unique 3D world in a variety of ways. From art, music, fashion and media; content is created all the time.  Relationships are formed and amazing things happen.

The SL Enquirer came across one such character. His name is Mickey DeSantis. Unlike other avatars, his existence is not to be portrayed as a human. Instead, his avatar is part of a project that has tied both the virtual and real world together in a very unique way.

Award Winning Vocalist; Wolfie Moonshadow sits down with The SL Enquirer for a Second Time- Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

Wolfie Moonshadow is an accomplished vocalist who rezzed on the Second Life music scene in June of 2010.

He completed his vocal training through the Royal Schools of Music Examining Board and his achievements include awards for Gibraltar Young Musician of the year in the Vocalist Category, MEL Best Band of the Year (West Midlands, UK 2004), MEL Best Front Man of the Year (West Midlands, UK) as well as Entertainer of the Year in Costa Del Sol, Spain. 

His career spans over 20 years and three countries.

His energy can be felt throughout Second life as he adapts to his environments and performs for his fans. His versatile style includes a mix of several genres, including Latin/Spanish. Wolfie is a master of his craft and knows how to engage a crowd. You can tell he is in his element when he hits the stage and shares his electrifying voice.

Second Life™ 11th Birthday Community Celebration is coming!

The event will be held from Sunday June 22nd – Sunday June 29th—seven days of amazing exhibits, music, conversation, debate, firework displays, games, puzzles, sports and everything else the wonderfully inventive communities of Second Life™ can pack into seven days and 11 sims. Actually, even that won’t be the end of it, as the sims will be open for a further seven days for everyone to explore.

What’s our theme?

The theme this year takes inspiration from a quote by the British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill:

The empires of the future are the empires of the mind.

Last year’s theme was “Looking Forward, Looking Back,” but we focused mostly on looking back, and rightly so, as 10 years was an important milestone and a perfect opportunity to reflect back on where we came from.

This year it’s time to look forward; to imagine where we are headed.

When Winston Churchill said this in 1943, he could not have imagined a virtual world like Second Life, but now, more than seventy years later, his words have come true in this new world that we have created.

If there’s one thing that makes SL unique, it’s our community of users. Users from all corners of the globe come together under a single umbrella to build a community that comes from our minds and our imaginations. Everything we see, touch and use in Second Life is a product of our imaginations, our minds, and our community.

And this year, at the SL11B Community Celebration, we want to celebrate precisely that!

HAPPY EASTER, IT’S 420! Interview with a Virtual Easter Bunny

Easter lands on April 20^th 2014 this year and in Second Life residents have adorned their landscapes with pastel colors, flowers and Easter Decorations. 

The SL Enquirer  kicked off their festivities by hosting an Easter Egg Decorating Contest.  While trying to gather contestants, Lanai had a chance to meet with this year’s infamous cotton-tailed mascot. Word on the street is Lanai has been up to no good with Pedro Cottontail and doing some very un-holiday things. We here at SLE think she has taken things a bit too far and needs an intervention…but none of the staff want to step forward and bring up rehab or counseling.

We understand that Lanai has been having a hard go with holiday mascots and is suffering from some hook up regrets and work exhaustion. At least she does not remember the tryst with Cupid, thanks to wishes to erase that memory were granted by Larry the Leprechaun in March.
