February 20th - Phemie + Banjo LIVE at Terry's Sunday Showcase

Join us on Sunday, February 20th beginning at 1 pm SLT for Terry's Sunday Showcase, sponsored by the SL Enquirer!   Joining us this week for a special live dual-stream performance will be Phemie, along with her RL bandmate Banjo McFeelies!

You will get sucked into the stories Phemie weaves in the songs she covers as well as the haunting originals she shares with us.  Her song selection is varied spanning both time and genre. From the moment you hear those first few keys break through the quiet until the last notes she sings at the end of the hour you'll be glad you stopped by and looking forward to the next time.

This will be a rare, mostly acoustic set with a primarily bluegrass/Americana feel to it, so it's definitely one you won't want to miss!

Come support live music with friends, laughter, and a whole lot of fun...ONLY at Terry's Place!!!

EARLY VALENTINES GIFT: WELCOME TO THE WORLD JAECEON PRINCE CASANI

Congratulations to Sevyn Jaylee Casani and Prince Anthony Casani who both welcomed their little prince Jaeceon Prince Casani on the 12th of February last Saturday weighing in 7:15 pounds and 19 inches. The birth was none, to say the least, a surprise for us all. Dr. Suga Cartier was ready on-call with mother Sevyn every step of the way, as she monitored her contraction patterns from home. However, baby Jaecon was ready to enter the world and the family made their way to the clinic earlier than expected. It was a smooth but suspenseful delivery filled with love as friends and family supported and watched on as Jaeceon arrived two days earlier before valentines day at 2:10pmslt. Both parents are thrilled and now enjoying spending time with their little man. <3 Welcome to the world Jaeceon Prince Casani from the team at Bayside Medical Clinic <3

One Billion Rising in SL 2022 is now open! Join us for 24 hours of music, dance, art and poetry!

Every year for the last 10 years we have risen in Second Life. ONE BILLION RISING began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS. Every February, we rise – in hundreds of countries across the world – to show our local communities and the world what one billion looks like and shine a light on the rampant impunity and injustice that survivors most often face.  We rise through dance to express joy and community and celebrate the fact that we have not been defeated by this violence. We rise to show we are determined to create a new kind of consciousness – one where violence will be resisted until it is unthinkable. (excerpt from www.onbillionrising.org) And we here in Second Life can be part of this global movement. One Billion Rising in Second Life is a 24-hour arts festival with the aim of raising awareness of issues of abuse to women, girls, and members of the community who identify as female, around the globe. From domestic abuse to Female Genital Mutilation, OBR aims to empower and educate as well as celebrate survival. OBR in SL will contain 4 sims dedicated to this year's theme Artistic Uprising which is a defiant call for revival, restoration, and transformation. There will be: + 24 hours of live music and DJs + Poetry and Literary Readings in the Poetry and Prose Theatre + Live Dance performances from some of the best dance troupes in SL + Beautiful Gardens and places to relax and reflect + Light and Particle Shows OBR IS NOT A FUNDRAISING EVENT, rather we are raising awareness for this tremendously important cause.

Grand Opening Expo "Inspired by Romaine Brooks"

Thursday 17 February 2022 at 12pm SLT we invite you to join us for this event. In our new expo artist Polo Rheinart shows his images inspired by Romaine Brooks (1874-1970) Brooks lived most of her life in Paris where she was a leading figure of an artistic counterculture of upper-class Europeans and American expatriates, many of whom were creative, bohemian, and homosexual. She crafted an androgynous appearance that challenged conventional ideas of how women should look and behave. These ideas extended to many of the portraits she painted in the 1920's, which are some of her best known works. Polo Rheinart was inspired by her art and created images with her esthetics in mind.

GeekSpeak subject for Saturday 12th February at noon SLT: What will be the most profound technology in the next 10 years?

As a species, we are facing a future with huge changes.  AI, new materials, abundant energy, biotech, gen therapy, abundant internet, underpopulation, mass unemployment, all these, and many more will make big differences in the next 10 years.

How will we deal with all this? Is Universal Basic Income the answer?

If not, will we see a ‘digital divide’ with an elite and a lot of people in the useless masses?

And what is on the other side?

Come and discuss the future in GeekSpeak at noon SLT this Saturday.  Your life depends on it.  Bring your friends!

IM Vulcan Viper, who teaches a meditation class every Wednesday in the GeekSpeak auditorium, if you have ideas for new subjects.

February 13th - Max Kleene, Katia, Krisie Snowdrop and Aaron Cabott Jones LIVE at Terry's Sunday Showcase

Join us on Sunday, February 13th beginning at 1 pm SLT for Terry's Sunday Showcase, sponsored by the SL Enquirer!  This week's featured artist is Maximillion Kleene, recipient of over 11 Avi-Choice Awards in multiple categories including Favorite Male Performer, who has been amazing his audiences since 2007.

His dynamic musical range and smooth acoustic groove "Max-imizes" tunes ranging from CCR to Foo Fighters; from Train to Jason Mraz.

Streaming from Niagara Falls Canada, Max provides his fans with an hour of musical magic and brings a vast repertoire of quirky, classic, and current covers to Second Life.

Next up  at 2 pm SLT, Terry's Sunday Showcase continues with a special LIVE performance from Katia! Her wide range of styles coupled with an upbeat stage presence and her infectious laugh has drawn a large fan-base.

Katia hails from Croatia, and is currently living in Lisbon, Portugal. She first entered the SL music scene in 2009, but took a break and re-entered in 2013. Katia has been performing on various online platforms for over 15 years, specializing in modern and classic rock, show tunes, ballads, pop music and a wide variety of genres. Katia speaks 5 languages and during each set enjoys singing a song or two in Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.

Following Katia at 3pm SLT, Terry's Sunday Showcase proudly welcomes Krisie Snowdrop, a singer/songwriter from Canada whose bubbly and vivacious personality has endeared her to so many across the SL grid.  Armed with the sweetest giggle, which she does quite a lot, as well as a slightly warped sense of humor, she performs Country, standards, Pop, Rock, love songs, oldies and much more!

Debuting at Terry's this week, Krisie may be no rock or country star, and may never travel the real world or ride in a limo, but she is truly honored to have the opportunity to sing for all as her family and fans.

Dollhouses & Miniatures at Janus Gallery III

You are cordially invited to join us Sunday, 13 February from 12pm-2pm slt for Cassie Eldemar's new exhibit at Janus Gallery III entitled, "Dollhouses and Miniatures" Holly Giles will perform for the first hour followed by Winter. We're excited to share this unique afternoon of art and music with you!

___________________________________________________________________ About the Artist: Cassie Eldemar - Biography "I listen when the prims start to whisper, and we create a story" Cassie Eldemar - Retired school teacher and soon to be great grandmother. I joined SL in 2007 a year before I retired. A librarian friend told me about SL and talked me into joining. I was pretty new to computers and the internet back then, and after a couple dozen attempts to find a name that wasn't already taken, I ended up as Cashew Writer...laughs. It didn't take me too long to find the Ivory Tower of Prims which became my alma mater. I've always laughed and called myself the slowest builder in SL. One because I took my time, and two because it seemed to take me about 6 years to catch onto building. It was about then that I became very ill. After I started to recover, I considered quitting SL. But my RL husband of 45 years thought I should stay, and joined SL to be with me here: As it turned out, building became my therapy. I learned to start listening to the prims and my building started to bloom. A building friend introduced me to Mesh Studio, and that has become a very useful building tool. About 4 years ago, I tried making a dollhouse on a very small scale. As I finished a linkset I would mesh it, and when I was finished, the little victorian dollhouse was only 9 LI! Everyone loved the size, the details, and the low LI.....so I tried making one with furniture and other details....and as they say, the rest is history. Last summer, I started the Collectible series which are smaller and lower LI than the miniatures and include little people. They promise to be a lot of fun:) Enjoy! Cassie

VALENTINE CHARITY AUCTION: DATING FOR A GOOD CAUSE – JOSH (THOMAS1 BELLIC) REPORTING

Cancer deaths rose to 10 million globally in 2019.   Cancer was the second leading cause of death, after heart disease, in the United States, with nearly 600,000 deaths.  Team One More Light is a SecondLife team that helps raise money to support the real-life Relay for Life organization.

Relay For Life of SecondLife is the largest virtual event in the world and in 2020 was ranked 5th among more than 5000 Relay for Life events. Since 2004, Relay for Life of SL has raised more than ONE BILLION LINDENS. That’s more than $4 MILLION DOLLARS in support of the American Cancer Society.

XXXXXXXXXXXXX

In hopping around the Grid a few weeks back, I landed in the backyard of the Schitt Family.  Lene Schitt, the matriarch of the clan, was orchestrating a BBQ for her family and some close friends.  I noticed a poster on the backyard fence, promoting something called a “Valentine Charity Auction” and Relay for Life, and I asked Lene what that was all about.   Gracious beyond measure, she stopped what she was doing and addressed my questions.

Josh (Thomas1 Bellic) JB: So, Lene, tell me about how you first came to be associated with Relay for Life?

Lene Schitt (LS): Last year after meeting Abby Lemongrass and Bob Bayilner the team captains for One More Light group; I was so blown away with their events and how they were raising money for this incredible cause. I could not believe how huge Relay for Life was here in the virtual world and I knew right away I wanted to be a part of it.

::Lucid::  I was first introduced to Relay when my friend introduced me to Bob and Abi and they asked me if I was interested in making some things to sell for a relay event.

JB: Have you hosted events like this before?

LS:  I have hosted smaller parties for myself and for friends but never an event like this. But I am looking forward to hosting more; this has been an incredible turnout and a whole lot of fun.

JB: You have quite an operation here.  Do you do this by yourself, or did you have help?

LS: Oh no, there is no way I could have done this by myself... From the start this has been a team effort, from the build of the sim, coming up with ideas to include everyone, planning the pantie hunt, making the note cards, flyer's, free gifts for everyone that visits the sim, flick pick of the day, coordinating events at That's Amore Cafe, all of it has been a Team Effort... One More Light is quite the Group and we are growing.

Lucid: We have a team, One More Light. It’s a team effort, but special recognition goes to Lene Schitt and Lily Cloud as it would be nothing without them.

JB:  What types of reactions have you had to the Valentine Charity Auction?

LS:  I have to tell you the amount in donations alone from this event thus far speaks volumes. We have had a great reaction from everyone, so many people have shown their support in many different ways. Not only our friends but also people that don't know us or just heard about the event through advertisement; everyone wants to be a part of it somehow.

Lucid:  Overwhelmingly positive reactions, everyone has been having fun and we've met so many new friends.

JB: The “Pantie Hunt” was fun. How did you come up with THAT idea?

LS:  Well, the Pantie Hunt wasn't my idea. That idea was Lily Cloud and the Cookie Monster.  Lily Cloud is one of our Team Members and she and Cookie thought a Valentine Pantie Hunt with love stories would be a great idea to promote the auction. So many people enjoyed the Hunt, we will most likely bring it back next year.

JB:  Tell us more about the auction.  I understand that, unlike most auction boards, you actually have a couple of different categories?

LS:  The idea of the Valentine Charity Auction was to include everyone. We wanted to be able to have everyone participate, so we came up with 3 categories Romance, Friendship and Kinky.

·         ROMANCE: Single and Want to Mingle then this is the right category for you. Looking for that perfect someone to settle down and perhaps be your forever SL partner?

·         FRIENDSHIP: Looking for like-minded friends, or something platonic, one in which people share a close bond but do not have a sexual relationship, then this is the right category for you.

·         KINKY: Do you desire something Kinky or have some Erotic Fetish? Want to go on a date and meet someone with some Kinky Fetishes, then check out this category?

We thought that by having different categories everyone would be able to participate in the auction and I got to tell you, breaking the auction into these 3 categories was really worth it, the response has been amazing!!

Lucid:  Yes, we wanted it to be a really inclusive event, and not everyone is looking for the same things, we wanted everyone to be comfortable and to enjoy themselves.

JB:  As part of my in-depth research in support of this article,  I agreed to be one of those who was “Auctioned off” for a good cause.  As a result of this event, I made another friend in SL.  Such a delightful way to get to know someone – going on a date to help fight Cancer.  What a concept!

JB:  This looks like a LOT of auction boards!  About how many people have participated in your Auctions?

LS:  We broke up the Auction in two rounds and each round had about 125 boards, most people in round one came back to participate in Round 2 and some that hadn't had a chance are still coming to sign up.

JB:  How are you doing on fundraising this year?

LS:  The  Season is just starting and I have to tell you we are blowing it away so far. This event has put us right at 30% of the goal for this season. Our Goal this Season is to raise $6,000 US dollars.

AL: That’s Six Thousand US Dollars – and not Lindens.  Overall, Relay for Life of SecondLife has set a goal of $500,000 US dollars for the year.

Lucid:  We are over a third of the way to our goal already, with four months to go.

JB:  What happens with the money you raise?

LS:  All money raised at our events including this one will go to Relay for Life of Second Life.

AL:  In 2021, SL Relay for Life was the #4 organization across the world.  Relay For Life of Second Life has raised over $3.2 million for the fight against cancer.

Lucid: Every Linden we raise goes directly to Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society. Our team leaders go so far as to pay for this sim out of pocket so no money gets redirected at all, straight to Relay.

JB:  Do you have specific events planned?  Can you share some details of those?

LS:  One More Light Team has a list of upcoming events for the Season. The calendar is getting full already and our next big event is the Mr/Miss Multiverse Pageant, which is going to be so much fun. We also have an Easter egg hunt/Tea, surfing event, Roller Disco, Golf Tournament, Comic Con, live singers and you won’t want to miss out on The Great Gatsby Themed Weekend Event... We have so many great events upcoming...

Lucid:  We have oh so very many things. In addition to the activities Lene mentioned, we have an event called Keg and Eggs, and a really special Art Gala, along with many one-day events.

JB:  Is there anything Else you would like to share with our SL Enquirer Readers?

AL: Believe it or not, less than 20% of the people in second life even know about Relay for Life here in SecondLife.  Can you imagine if everyone knew and got involved what a difference we might make?  We are always looking to add fun, creative members to our team who want to share in our passion to raise awareness and money for Relay for Life...

Lucid:  While just one out of every five SecondLife Users is aware of the Relay for Life presence inworld, SL is the fourth largest donor. I think that's pretty amazing, and if the word is spread further, we could work miracles.

So there you have it, Folks.  If you want to help make a difference in the world,  come on out to the One More Light, Relay for Life auction and charity fundraising event.  You really CAN make a difference.

Imagine a world free from cancer. Help make it a reality.

GeekSpeak subject for Saturday 5th February at noon SLT: Does an empire really work?

There are some terrible empires on this planet, like North Korea and Turkmenistan.  There are also more moderate empires, like the West.  But in both cases, people want more freedom.

How much freedom should people have?  If we all have complete freedom, is that not anarchy?  Where is the ‘sweet spot’?  What is the difference between being a slave and being free?

What is needed to bring bad empires down and good empires up?  Could we live without empires?

Come and join us in GeekSpeak this Saturday at noon SLT, if your chain is long enough to get here.  Bring all your free or unfree friends.

Join us on Sunday, February 6th beginning at 1 pm SLT for Terry's Sunday Showcase, sponsored by the SL Enquirer!  This week's featured artist is Lexus Melodie!

Debuting at Terry's this week, Lexus is a singer/songwriter with the voice to prove it. With a heart as big as her voice,  Lexus' setlists are a carefully crafted blend of songs that she connects with or has written based on her life experiences in the UK.  Her originals have depth, but also just the right amount of humor, wit, and catchiness.

When playing covers, she has the innate ability to take songs created by others, and play them in a way that transforms them into something different, something audibly noteworthy, something.....Lexus.  Come see which songs you'll still be singing tomorrow morning...

Following Lexus at 2 pm SLT, you're in for a treat as Terry's Sunday Showcase continues with a special LIVE performance from the lovely Seli Blackmore, a singer/songwriter that continues to impress with her silky smooth voice, pure sweet tone and vivacious personality that will have you humming to yourself with a big smile on your face.  She not only performs original songs but covers greats like Fleetwood Mac, Billie Holiday, The Dixie Chicks and even some Aerosmith!

Seli was born in the USA but calls Sweden home.  She's currently involved in a number of projects in addition to her own debut solo album. After over a decade in SL, she combines the two things she loves: gaming and music. Her distinctive voice makes her a "must-hear performer" and you won't regret spending your time listening to her mesmerizing music.

WORLD CANCER DAY CHARITY EVENT AT BAYSIDE MEDICAL CLINIC: FRIDAY 4TH 7AM-1PMSLT

Here at Bayside Medical Clinic, not only are we a Roleplay clinic that offers medical care for our patients, we believe and are passionate about providing awareness for charities in RL. That's why this Friday BMC will be putting on a charitable event supporting World Cancer Day. World Cancer Day held every year on the 4th February is a global event that raises worldwide awareness in hopes to, 're-imagine a world where millions of preventable cancer deaths are saved and access to life-saving cancer treatment and care is equitable for all - no matter who you are or where you live.' That's why we should act NOW. Every year over 10 million people die from cancer, which is more than HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis combined, cancer being at the forefront; the leading cause of death worldwide. By 2030, experts project cancer deaths to rise to 13 million. How you can help? Come by to our clinic and make a donation. We have a donation Giraffe by our reception where you can donate. Or donations will be converted into RL money and donated to the official world cancer website. Join us for our event this Friday the 4th of February from 7amslt - 1pm slt at Bayside Medical Clinic. Wear blue and orange. Dj's to play. Wear blue and orange, the official theme colors of this year. Post a snap creating awareness on social media and #closethecaregap

GeekSpeak subject for Saturday 29th January at noon SLT: How do you kill a bot? Will Asimov’s laws protect us?

When robots become intelligent enough to roam the streets there could be armies of bad bots roaming around too.  How can we protect ourselves?  Can we make sure that robots are never programmed to do evil?  That no one ever makes bots without the 3 laws of robotics?

Will the 3 laws be enough?  Even Asimov thought they could fail in the end.

Can we prevent a terminator scenario before it happens?  What options do we have?  Could we all emigrate to Mars after checking the ship for stowaway bots?  Is there a better solution?  Or do you think robots will never be a danger to us?  Come to GeekSpeak at noon SLT on Saturday to talk about it.  Bring all your robots.

IM Vulcan Viper, who teaches a meditation class every Wednesday in the GeekSpeak auditorium, if you have ideas for new subjects.

January 29th - Live Music & Bloch Party at Terry's: Ninja's Birthday Extravaganza!

When friends are near...it's time to CHEER! Join us at Terry's on Saturday, January 29th beginning at 11 AM SLT to celebrate Ninja's real life birthday with SIX fun filled hours of live music from some of the hottest entertainers on the grid! Don't worry about bringing the balloons and cake...just make sure you are not late, my DEAR!

Kicking things off at 11 AM, we'll get things cranking with a Terry's Bloch Party...featuring a special live performance from Shagpile Spyker, AKA Jason Vare, an independent singer songwriter from Bedlington, a small town north of Newcastle in Northumberland UK. He was particularly influenced by artists such as Bob Dylan; The Beatles; Neil Young and many more. In more recent times  Shaggy has been drawn to the sound of Joe Purdy, Ray Lamontagne, James Morrison, Paulo Nutini, and upcoming artists like Paul Liddell.

As a song writer Shaggy draws inspiration from the trials of life, and from the lives of those around him. These inspirations translate into music that is smooth and sincere. He has a creativity that detours from the ordinary!! Lyrically this music takes you to wherever you want to be and is full of emotion.

Up next at 12pm SLT,  get ready for more of our Bloch Party as we welcome spiritLed back for a special LIVE performance on Terry's stage! spiritLed is not new to SL but relatively new to performing live music around the grid. Coming to you from the East Coast, spiritLed has been playing the guitar since his 20's and is now learning and enjoying playing the keyboard.

You will immediately fall in love with spiritLed's covers of songs from artists like: Coldplay, Harry Styles, Train, The Beatles, and more. Join us and hear why he is beloved by fellow musicians around the grid.

Following spiritLed at 1pm, lose yourself in the music with the amazing Mimi Carpenter!! Known for her distinctively gentle, French lilt, Mimi's talent as a self-taught musician has graced the Second Life music scene for a decade.

As Mimi's presence and talent grew, so too did her repertoire of covers and originals. Mimi’s extensive song list doesn't just highlight the eclectic tastes and influences upon her development as an artist, which includes rock, indie and pop. The inclusion of English, French, and German language songs also reflect her travels and experiences living throughout Europe and abroad.

Taking the stage at 2pm SLT will be Shamrock Defibrillator, an exciting recent addition to the Second Life entertainment scene, playing original music in a virtual world.  Imagine Bill Withers heading over to Abbey Road in a Cadillac to pick up Ben Harper so they can catch the tail end of THE Reverend Al Green's sermon...this fantastic performer is definitely not your ordinary Shamrock!

At 3pm SLT, Terry's Bloch Party continues with another spectacular performance from the lovely Semina! Born and raised on the south coast of Sweden, she is a talented singer-songwriter who has traveled the world playing her music at clubs, festivals, living rooms,  and theaters around Scandinavia, Europe, UK, and USA.

With a playful way of mixing genres and a voice that could mend a broken heart, SEMINA now comes to entertain in Second Life with covers from well known artists.

Following a brief intermission, you're in for a particularly delightful treat at 5pm SLT Terry's is proud to welcome back veteran musicians Noma Falta and Donn Devore, performing together in an exclusive DUALSTREAM!

NOMA FALTA is a POWERFUL, passionate performer in the Music scene of Second Life.  A vocalist, bass player, and guitar player in genres covering Blues, rock, soul, pop, and jazz-influenced tunes.  Noma plays bass and sings live with tracks for solo shows, but she can also perform a solo acoustic show - just woman and guitar.

She is a powerful, soulful Vocalist and Musician enjoying the company of Second Lifer’s for over 13 years. A high-energy artist who loves being involved with the audience during her shows. From solid grooves with bass and tracks to heartfelt unplugged acoustic shows - it is all about the Music and You.

A Multi-instrumentalist and Strong Vocalist with power and soul embedded in all music endeavors, Noma has extensive experience for the past 40+ years around the Real-world on stages, arenas, and bars across the U.S and overseas.

Joining Noma for this special LIVE ensemble is Donn Devore, who is a music producer, audio engineer, multi-instrumental musician, singer, composer, and Second Life performer since 2007.

Inspired by Nine Inch Nails, Pink Floyd, and more, Donn performs a mix of original rock and electronic music.  Combining influences from rock, trance, and techno genres, Donn has developed a delicious blend of sounds from guitar-based love songs to high energy dance music to experimental electronic pieces.  He demonstrates a broad range of musical talent singing with a rich, soulful voice while jamming on guitar and keyboards. His live shows are exciting to watch with colorful visuals and particle effects creating a fully immersive live music experience while inviting audience interaction.
