Are you a New Performer? Here is how to Book an Event in Second Life - Piers Diesel Reporting

In Second Life, activities happen daily. Many avatars like to attend events such as live music performances or DJ parties. These events help venue owners pay their tiers as well as help performers and DJ’s share and generate Lindens for their talent. This sharing of resources is what makes it possible for many venues to continue operation as well as keep entertainment active in Second Life.

New Musicians and DJs don’t necessarily need their own venue to book an event. Rather than stay mobile at one venue, it is best to perform across the grid at different places.
If you are new to the booking process, here are tips that can help you get started.

Studio 777 is like the Vegas of Second Life. It is an institution in SL business which offers the residents not only the option of skill gaming and winning money but also entertainment. Studio 777 also offer residents the chance to find virtual employment not only with the company but with other companies in Second Life as well.

It is not surprising when Studio 777 announced that they were going public allowing residents in Second Life to be shareholders. Finally residents were able to buy shares.  60% of shares were sold out within an hour on that first day. The owner of Studio 777 Luke Slingshot and his team surprised but also knew that residents who were buying shares could see that this was a business to invest in now and for the future.

I was able to chat with Luke about the success of going public and also about Studio 777.

Batista's Restaurant and Mountain Resort - Piers Diesel Reporting

It can be hard to find a good restaurant in Second Life which offers you good service and also feels like you are experiencing fine dining. However, many of you may have heard of Batista the restaurant but not know about Batista the resort.

The owners DeAngelo Batista and Jennifer Batista were happy for me to walk around the resort and have access to areas which are private. Due to them being busy organizing 2 big parties one for 20 people and another for 50, their daughter was kind enough to show me around and  answer some of my questions.

Meet Debi Palmira; Second Life’s Renowned DJ Manager- Piers Diesel Reporting...

Have you ever wanted to know what it would be like to be a music manager in Second Life?

It can be a tough and demanding job especially when you are Debi Palmira who managers Dj’s in Second Life. I took the opportunity while she wasn’t busy to chat with her about her work and to find out a little bit about her when she isn’t busy working.

Piers: Can you tell our readers a bit about yourself?

Debi:  I am born and raised in Minnesota. Been on Second Life since Dec 2008. Music was a big part of my family's life whether it be playing an instrument (I played flute lol) to whatever was put on to listen on the stereo. So really, it's no surprise I gravitated to the music scene not long after starting SL.

Take Part in Combat; Show Your Brutal Side- Piers Diesel Reporting...

Real life is rarely on the verge of mortal combat. Even when war takes place, most just watch it on television. No one joins the army. This leaves a void in many. This may explain some weird behavior in real life.
But thanks to Second Life, we have a few places where we can release our pent-up emotions. These places let you indulge in your brutal fantasies at no cost to real life.

Here is a list:

In Second Life we are fortunate to have a vast genre of music to suit everyone’s taste in music.

Indie music and the indie underground movement in Second Life, is as popular as it is in Real Life. The three genre of music which dominates the Second Life music scene are:

Indie bands in Real Life such as the Artic Monkeys, Babyshambles, Beck, Kasabian and many more can be heard spinning from the DJs in Second Life. However, you will find a lot more underground indie groups which may not have made it main stream but have a good following of fans.
