Charities in Second Life(c) help create awareness on a
global scale and raise money for real life organizations. In SL, there are multiple events and fundraisers that can be found. It is volunteers who help in the fight for a worthy cause while providing special events and activities to residents in the virtual world.
However, just like in real life is can be
hard to find the right charities which really help the causes they are working
for. Also, If we donate, we want to know where the money is going directly too.
I highlighted a few trustworthy charities that are raising not only money but
awareness in SL while helping people around the world.
CHARMED CHARITIES
This charity raises money to help provide care and support for approximately
100 children in Awassa, Ethiopia, most who have been orphaned by the AIDS epidemic. The children are given the necessary
nutrition, clothing, housing, education, and counseling required for a healthy
upbringing, and in-turn, the opportunity to become a self-reliant and active
member of the Awassa community. It focuses on the areas of
1. Housing
2. Education

Steampunk is a 19th century Victorian or wild west
culture depicting a post apocalyptic future.
It is based on fantasy and a science fiction hybrid sub-genre that features
machines powered by steam, like spring propelled hot air balloons, steam engine
trains, trolleys and other mechanical vehicles. Steampunk can also be
associated with an artistic style in pseudo- Victorian fashion that
incorporates mechanical parts, top hats, boots, monocles, pocket watches and
digital gadgets.

The Dickens Project Returns for a Second Year
Thursday, December 12, 2013
A Christmas Carol, Avatar Repertory Theater, Caledonia Skytower, Charles Dickens, Cookie, Klannex Northmead, StoryFest Events, The Dickens Project

It was just a year ago that StoryFest Events SL created The Dickens Project in celebration of the Bicentennial of Charles Dickens’ birth. For 13 days in December of 2012 over 30 hours of live voice performances from the works of Charles Dickens were presented. The performances focused on A Christmas Carol, but including other works from the author’s vast canon as well. The Project featured an interactive streetscape environment which served as a frame work for the performances. “It is still really about the words,” said producer Caledonia Skytower. The Project was a success, drawing audiences of all sizes and from all around the grid for the various presentations.
On Friday, December 13th The Dickens Project will open for a second year, this time on Cookie courtesy of Thinkerer Melville. Opening weekend performances will feature the Avatar Repertory Theater, Klannex Northmead, and Ms. Skytower herself. As the Project moves into its first week it will follow the successful model of last year, presenting one section of A Christmas Carol each day, live in voice, featuring the talents of Kayden Oconnell, Ixmal Supermarine, Dubhna Rhiadra, and Corwyn Allen among others. Residents of Second Life can enjoy the text of Dickens’ classic Christmas Ghost Story in part, or in full, at any number of convenient times. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Cookie/64/36/32

If you are a lover of music, listening to
live talent in Second Life is a exciting and different way of enjoying music in
various genres.
In
real life, many of us have gone or still go to concerts to hear our favorite
band or singers. Just as in the real
world this is something which residents of Second Life are able to do too with
from from all over the world all in one place. Attending venues which support
and put on live events helps keep these kind of venues running and also
encourages them to keep supporting artists in Second Life.
Here are a few popular venues that support

Scammer
Report: Con artist Susan Baguier owner of Aquadrom Games is being blacklisted by SLE for bilking residents out of thousands of lindens in game winnings.
Shame on you Susan!
It is a fact the Gambling in Second Life is “illegal” and
against the terms of service. To rid the community of all Gambling Casinos, auto
play scripts were disabled by Linden Lab. However, gaming venues still exist
and the machines used today are considered games of skill. Unfortunately, gamer scammer exist too and seem to find ways
to bilk unsuspecting residents out of Lindens.
This week, it was reported to The SL Enquirer that Susan
Baguier, owner and operator of Aquadrom Games has been doing some shady
business practices and abusing the gaming industry in Second Life. Her scam
starts off with spamming unsuspecting residents and conning them into visiting
her gaming venue.
Susan allegedly entices her victims by setting some
machines with smaller payouts to gain trust and victims move on to the higher
payout machines where the cost is higher to play.
The unsuspecting
victim plays with hopes of winning the big jackpot and then never receives the
payout. Susan Baguier is being accused of acting as a concerned attendant and
then logging off or reset the game and passing it off like it was an accident.
Two victims of her scam have come forward to tell their story to SLE.

Adopt an Attitude of Gratitude by Linda Lauren

I think about gratitude every day of the year. When I am rising to greet the day and retiring for the evening, I give thanks for the blessings that have been bestowed upon me, and for the people in my life who bestowed them. My thanks does not just include family and friends. It encompass the many people I come in contact, and the things that happen in my life during that year that elicit my appreciation.
I often read about how grateful people are during the holiday season and with social media and the Internet, we are inundated with streams of photos and information flying by our computer screens that are designed to illicit our gratitude. But once those streams fly past us, do we remember to be grateful?
When we show gratitude it’s like money in the bank. It’s is a way of giving thanks because as the holiday season unfolds, so do our expressions of gratitude. It is a time when we shine a light on the people in our immediate circle who love and honor us all year long. They’ve embraced us and we, in turn, strive to do our best to show our thanks. A little “thank you” really does go a long way, so why not stretch it and make it go long and wide? Why not also extend your appreciation to the people you come in daily contact with who have been there in different ways, offering something vital just when we needed it?
Did the grocery clerk smile at you and make you feel good this morning? Maybe the mailman delivered good news. Perhaps someone held a door open for you when your arms were burdened with packages. Did you say thank you to any of them? Are they on your mind this year as you reflect on your blessings? More importantly, how are you honoring and showing your thanks? It’s never to late for gratitude, so let me get started with some ways to accomplish this special kind of remembering.
Write it out! Keep a gratitude journal and use the method of counting your blessings by writing them down, etching your appreciation in stone. You can even write the names of some of those people and events in your journal, thanking them. But be sure to at least three reasons you are grateful each day. Can’t think of three? Well, you are breathing, aren’t you? That’s one! You are reading this positive article. That’s two. You get the idea and soon the number on your list will grow and change daily.
Be kind! Pass along an act of kindness for every act of kindness you receive. You would be surprised at how the little things you do can add up to an abundance of joy to the lives of those you touch, whether they know you’ve touched them or not. You’ll gather a lot of positive energy you way for the kindness in the action you take.
Embrace spirit through Prayer! This is another great way to give thanks. To be prayerful is to be connected with your spiritual foundation by way of an expressed intention. Send your intentions out to the universe this way enforces our belief system, no matter what that is.
Follow the above suggestions as you move through the season and share in the spirit by adopting the attitude of gratitude and applying some of the thoughts I’ve shared. I promise you it will make your spirit bright and your attitude positive.

Life as a model in SL(c) can be as long as
you want it to be. Just like real life, the more experience and respect you
gain in the industry, the easier it gets
to attract the big fashion houses in SL.
In the past, SL had models and Super models.
Just as RL super models modelled for the big fashion houses in SL and were
always first choice when work was needed such a print or runway. Their names
and reputation in the industry became renowned and you would recognize them by
their names instantly as a super model.
There are still a few SL super models around
who are now part of the SL industry, still renowned for their contribution to
the modelling world.
One model in particular is Carley Benazzi.
I was
fortunate to have a chance to chat with her between photo shoots for a
well-known fashion label.
