Prêt-à -Porter SL Style…. Lacy Muircastle reporting

Way
back in 2010 I wrote an article on Prêt-à -Porter SL Style
where I mentioned that ‘style is
a deeply personal expression of who you are and every time you dress, you are
asserting a part of yourself. Image is the foundation of visual credibility,
personal presence and non-verbal communications.’
I have decided to resurrect this concept and I will
be making regular postings about outfits, accessories, hair, shoes, shapes and
skins that catch my eye in the wonderful world of fashion in Second Life.

One wouldn't expect a bunny and a horse to be enemies. But it was almost two years ago in which the companies that make them in Second Life ended up in a fight that reached real life court. For well over a year, nothing was heard about the case between Ozimals and Amaretto. Finally earlier this month, the judge over the case made a summary judgement. What did he rule, and who's claiming victory in "Bunneh vs Horsie?"

| Lanai's recent trip to the supermarket |
With the public announcement of the Hostess company, best known for pumping out those cream filled Twinkies for the last 85 years, is liquidating and ending it’s distribution of those golden calorie engorged treats. People have been frantic.
Wonder Bread is being threatened too. This creates a big problem for all the moms that pack peanut butter & jelly, and ham sandwiches. Now they are being forced to find a bread less vitamin fortified and enriched!
Lanai did not take the news well at all. In fact, she remains shocked and convinced its the end of our free world as we know it.
In the midst of this terrible breaking news, Lanai felt the need to inform the SL Enquirer media group about the tragic end to Twinkie as she stockpiled for an emergency.
It stirred up emotions from the healthy eaters of Second Life who accused Lanai of being a secret advocate for the promotion of diabetes and unhealthy eating habits.

Anek Fuchs is an accomplished, well-known musician in Second Life. When I arrived at his show at VirtualMusic Services, he was bantering with the audience before he started playing a little White Stripes for us. The rest of his show was filled with both lively and slower songs as he took us through different music genres and time periods. Near the end, he even included some instrumental songs, improvised on the spot.
In real life, Anek is known as Dave Smith, a singer, musician, and songwriter from Chicago, Illinois

About a month or so ago, I received a notice from a group that mentioned a new SL movie premiering, and right off the bat, I was intrigued. I love machinima and the multiple talents -- writing, acting, producing, directing, and editing -- needed to develop a great movie. I immediately contacted the director of the movie, Ambrosia Lanley about the premiere, and in that conversation, I knew I had to feature her and her work. Ambrosia Lanley's work . . . and the woman herself . . . is intriguing, engaging, appealing, and dynamic. Come, sit a spell, and learn more about Ambrosia as she talks about her latest production, her inspiration, and more!

One of my favorite things to do on the grid is dance. Early in my three years on the grid, dance meant going to the club and clicking the animations in my inventory. Over the years, dance became a serious business, practice. It became precision, it became listening to the music closely so that I could make movements with the music that told a story. My love of dance, of music, of telling stories with dance showed its face a while back when I interviewed some great women in dance for SLE. When I was asked to do the spotlight feature on Ballet Pixelle® and talk to BP's artistic director and choreographer Inarra Saarinen, I was more than thrilled to jump in and learn more about this dynamic, unique dance company.

Young couples cuddling up by the fire with hot chocolate to keep warm, show signs of the holidays approaching. How will you decorate though? Will it be luxurious? Or will it be simple? You have so many choices, but if your on a budget it's a little harder to decorate. That's why I will give you some great ways to decorate without breaking your wallet.

Last week saw the Official opening of the new 'Art Of Protest Contest' at Art India Gallery. With such a varied selection of artwork surrounding you upon landing, it's easy to lose yourself immediately in this beautiful exhibit. Each piece is unique, conveying its own individual protest, personality and world view. Alongside each is the option to receive a notecard providing context about the work in the artists own words, and the option to vote (With a select few available to buy). Visitors can vote on as many pieces as they wish, which is fortunate for us as the quality of both build and concept are beautifully high throughout the exhibition. Sunday, November 11, 2012

‘Virtual Ability’ and disabilities within Second Life – Jaded Exonar Reporting......
For many of us, Second Life is a virtual playground of possibilities, a
light-hearted virtual holiday from reality - But for some, it’s a lifeline.
In the United States alone, according to the Congressional Committee
findings for the Americans with Disability Act (ADA), 43 million citizens out
of the total population of about 250 million are disabled. That’s 17%, (one in
five) who have some type of disability. This makes disabled people the largest
minority group in the U.S. In the same way that real life poses
challenges to anyone with disabilities, Second Life does too. How would
your first day in SL have been if you had control of only one finger to type,
or were using voice recognition software to control your computer?

Happy 6th Rezzday to Mimi Juneau of MIMI's CHOICE
Mimi! It’s your birthday, I nearly forgot,

Since you’ve never been the type to be a drama queen.
I nearly quit, writing this verse,
My mind is blank, it must be a curse.
Searched online, bought you squat.
Hope you don’t turn all bitter and mean,
Since you’ve never been the type to be a drama queen.
I nearly quit, writing this verse,
My mind is blank, it must be a curse.
Let me stop being poetic,
before I start looking pathetic.
I will end this here,
but I have just one question for you if you care,
Where's the party?
I’ll surely be there!
Where's the party?

Momentum has been building up until Election Day 2012 with campaign debates. mudslinging, piles of campaign postcards and brochures, signs in yards, posters and billboards. No matter where you looked, you were reminded of this day and just how important it is to vote.
Voters across the United States sat tight when polls closed at 7:00 pm on the eastcoast and for each time zone. Americans and the world turned to TV, radio, cell phones, the internet, and many flocked to their social media outlets to express themselves. What made this as well as the 2008 election so important for President Obama, was the strength of social media, young voters, women and those concerned for the protection of women’s rights, health care reform and moving forward!
Did you know 70,000,000 Americans use Twitter alone? 70% are under the age of 44 and 60% are women.

PARKTOWN ZOO - THE NICEST PLACE FOR A DATE..OR IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN – A girls guide by Marriellaanna
What could be more romantic I ask you, than a visit to the Zoo? Especially
In those early days of tentative courtship where you are trying to work out if
your intended is trying to get into your panties or if he is more interested in
you and spending time in your company. A visit to the zoo can be the most
romantic of occasions and most telling too as my recent date proved. There is
something endearing and bonding about holding hands and wandering around lost
in love, past incarcerated animals, so if you are searching for the ideal date
and want to give him the ideal excuse to protect you from the man eating
Tigers, take him down to Parktown zoo.

What is daylight savings all about?
Daylight saving time (DST) was an idea created by George Vernon Hudson in 1895. The sole purpose was to benefit social and sport events, retailers, as well as other activities with more daylight after work hours. This change in time makes the early morning hours darker but doesn't seem to cause issues with daily life unless you are a night owl, vampire or hermit and dislike that extra light.
It is purposely schheduled for 2 am across the United States and other regions in each time zone so that it doesnt interfere with daytime activities, work, church and school. (unless you work the graveyard shift)
Please note: residents of Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Marianas Islands won't need to change their clocks this weekend. see chart.

Creating Your Second Life Avatar
When you first sign up for Second Life you will have a choice of standard avatars to choose from. Let’s assume that you choose a human avatar and then go on to entering the virtual world of Second Life.
Your ‘virtual you’ will be very basic and NOOBY to begin with and it is up to you to make your avatar look the way you want it to and to improve it’s style therefore making it unique.
I have seen many avatars in Second Life who despite the fact that they are years older than me still have a NOOBY appearance and clearly have done little or nothing to improve the appearance of their avatar.
Personally it doesn’t bother me if someone wants to live their entire Second Life as a NOOB however this is my set of guidelines of changes that people can make to their avatar if they wish to.
Not everyone can afford to spend real life money in Second Life and I will address that also for those of you who need a few freebies.

Hurricane Sandy battered the New York metro area and much of the Northeast with all the fury that weather reports predicted. Thus far, the storm has claimed 9 lives in my borough alone.
Here on Staten Island, wind gusts exceeded 70 mph. The 800 mile-wide hurricane rattled windows, tossed trees and pounded residents with storm surges. Downed trees, power outages and flooding have affected most of the borough.

What's Hot for Fall? CeciliaRosalie Resident Reporting...

From the beginning the title
itself brings about the ETERNAL subject, which is important for every woman:
New season, New fashion, New trends.
When new seasons arrive, all the magazines are full of articles about
fashion trends and catalogues. What makes this article different is that is not
just a catalogue or a list with nothing else to say. We will have a closer look
on what's in fall fashion; the color pallet, and several styles.
Let's start with colors this fall.
Keep your eyes on these pantone shades: French Roast, a rich brown
hue; Honey Gold, a burnished yellow hue; Pink Flambé, a vibrant pink hue;
Tangerine Tango, a retro orange hue; Ultramarine Green, a cool blue-green hue;
Bright Chartreuse, a cool yellow-green hue; Olympian Blue, a patriotic blue
hue; Titanium, a cool gray hue; Rhapsody, a grayed-down purple hue; and Rose
Smoke, a veiled rose hue.
Now that we have got the main idea about
the dominant hues, we can move on to the specific and
unique clothing styles which will be worn this fall.

Out of Southport,
NC comes AMForte Clarity with a sound that is very down to earth and welcoming
to those who are just beginning to experience her music.
With songs such as
"Concrete" and "With You and Me", AMForte has the tendency
in her material to express a warm and vibrant array of lyrical notions that
tell stories of a hopeless romantic. The other side to the tail is the quick
and up-beat personality of AMForte, expressing herself with a blunt facade as
she inquires about her recently failed relationship in a song titled "Are
You Happy Now."
The SL Enquirer
recently caught up with AMForte for an exchange of questions and answers; the
song-writer had this to say:

Sandy Aftermath: Reporting from Northeast Pennsylvania
Sandy sure packed a powerful punch as it made its way over the eastcoast region of the United States. In Pennsylvania we prepared for what forcasters were saying would be historical. In deed it was. It devastated lower Manhattan, sucker punched the Jersey shore, ripped out the Atlantic City boardwalk and bodyslammed Pennsylvania as far in as Philadelphia, among other states in its path of desctuction. I'm glad to report, power has been restored to 41,000 in my area but 160,000 are still without power. Schools have been closed since Monday due to outages. There is some flooding and lots of debris remaining. Life after Sandy is in clean up mode.
