BREAKING NEWS: August 23, 2011- A 5.9 Earthquake shakes the Eastcoast around 2:30 pm est today. It’s Epicenter was in Richmond, Virginia. Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

* This Earthquake was downgraded to 5.8 at 4:15pm EST August 23, 2011
While working on SLE news propped up in my bed, I felt the entire room shake, at first I thought it was one of my kids playing a prank on me like they do, because my bed literally began to shake as if someone grabbed my bedpost and was shaking it. This continued for a good 5-10 seconds, I abruptly got up to look for the source pulling the prank and realized it wasn’t just my bed moving but everything, including  the heavy  stained glass light fixture in my foyer. I called to my daughter, who was watching television and asked her if she felt it and within a few minutes news started to flood my iphone from family and friends including all of the news sources I have on push notice.

With natural disasters seeming to come more frequently, I never would have thought an earthquake would hit this close to home. I live in a pretty safe place in Pennsylvania and the most I have ever felt was weakened hurricane winds and rain coming from the Atlantic, a few feet of snow, some flooding in the lower regions and tornado warnings, but nothing like this!

Only in the past five years have I seen an increase in the strength of these natural disasters and can now add possible earthquakes to the list.

As I write this, peeps in Washington DC and the Pentagon are evacuating for safety. Here in the northeast part of Pa, there doesn’t seem to be any damage, I am safe and my home is intact.

I hope that those directly affected by this event are now safe and for those around the world just hearing the news, here is the latest developments from where I am.

What caused this earthquake in Virginia?

BOOK Review: No Money Marketing: All You Need Is Like by Author Angela Yuriko Smith Published August 21, 2011

E-Book Descritption

May 2011 saw the entry of another fiction. The only thing different about it was that this book was a test subject for some marketing experiments. The results were staggering. This was done with minimal to no cost using skills easily obtained from online tutorials. This book is a must have tool for today’s indie authors to promote their work to a massive audience for a minimal cost.

Lanai’s Diary: 8-21-11- Going out in RL is similar to Going out in SL, except for one thing… Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

Waking up at 11 am this morning, the first thing I said to myself was “OMG, What Happened Last night!?!

This weekend kicked off fairly normal as I got up nice and early Saturday. I was up before everyone else and woke them all up when I turned on the stereo to some  HIP-HOP on full blast and started cleaned my house to satisfy my mild OCD. It’s a routine that everyone in this house knows, including my little miniature pinscher, ”Hollywood”, and  he still attacks my vacuum like a rabbit raccoon. I don’t get it.

Anyways, with school about to get back in session, I took my kids shopping as my husband went to be a Judge in the 1st annual Mafia Car Show at the Allentown Fairgrounds.

SLE Review: Atlantis Swingers Resort and Spa is the place to see it all! FEATURING A NEW BAND EVERY SUNDAY @ 6PM SLT Shay Dalek Reporting...

Shay Dalek Meditating

Atlantis Swingers Spa and Resort officially opened its doors last Sunday with a huge bang .Drawing over 50 people to its first live concert on the beach, party goers were treated to Def Leopard presented by the Rock Shoppe.  Shortly before 6pm SLT, the crowd began to gather and mingle and the atmosphere was electrifying.  People began to fall in from the midnight sky, from the prompt patron to the fashionably late, all gathered to claim their spot on the beach.  It isn’t a rock concert unless there is at least one head-banger in the crowd, and that night, there were several.  From the itty bitty bikinis to the full onslaught of head to toe leather ensembles, Def Leopard lovers gathered from far and wide, and beneath the glittery tropical night sky, a fantastic time was had by all.

SL Enquirer: Metastock 2011 Rocks Second Life! Cynamon pearl reporting...

Metastock 2011 peformance artist competition rocked Second Life this past weekend with twenty artists performing for Grand prize of 500usd. The event kicked off without a hinge leaving a lasting impression.

Although, their weren’t any long haired patchouli wearing hippis at Metastock this past weekend, Metastock’s launch in Second Life will no doubt linger indefinitely. The digital equivalent of Woodstock came to the Grid and dropped some of the best emerging talent that a virtual world has to offer. This live artist contest-event was brought to you buy Metatunes, “Itunes for the Metaverse” the Itunes equivalent in virutual worlds. The Metastock concept is un-precedented providing not only a platform for artists to promote themselves but a web based music distribution site for artists to liscence and sell their music.

AN SLE Exclusive: Is Second Life to blame for a failed marriage? One man shares his heart-wrenching story Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

Recently, I met a new resident of Second Life that stumbled upon our media center in his quest to find some answers on a very serious topic.  He claimed to be exploring this virtual world to figure out why his wife of 28 years, would leave him for someone she met here.

After revealing his real intention of becoming a resident, he said he probably shouldn’t have shared that information right off the bat with me, but after listening to some of the things he was saying, I explained that I had been in this virtual culture a long time and can understand all sides to this type of situation.

It is not an uncommon issue I hear about.  As uncomfortable as it may sound, Second Life© is the perfect place for people who feel lonely or need a creative outlet to be their true selves.

We can all recognize we live in a world that dictates a lot of “norms” on what is considered, taboo, right or wrong. It happens in politics, religion, business and even in one’s own emotional and human needs.

In virtual worlds and social networks across the Internet people are indulging in the many things they wish they can do or experience without the travel time and expenses incurred by such activities.

SPOTLIGHT FEATURE: Vintage Amore Photography Studio brings a new angle to Photography Services in Second Life© -Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

Vintage Amore was founded by Kavi Aldrin and her partner Sluuge Resident. With 2 years experience under their belts, they have worked in photo studios in the real world. With aspirations of starting a business, they established their presence here in Second Life© including stores and Sluuge’s Breedables, finally saving up enough Lindens to launch the Vintage Amore Photography Studio.

I have to say, after my tour of Vintage Amore, I was very impressed. It was no cheap skybox with outdated pose balls and a chair in the middle of the room.  It had a grand gallery style entrance with a red carpet rolled out before me.  This is where I met up with Kavi and Sluuge.

SL ARTS & LITERATURE: Stories are Alive for the Telling!

"The Storyteller" Dogstar telling tales.
“Everything is a story. What is there but stories?  Stories are the only truth . . . we had power over our own stories.  We shaped our world as we wished it to be. It was our glory.”

-“Gian Hen Gian” from Christopher Moore’s Practical Demonkeeping.

A bit over a month ago I heard a story presentation by someone I had not heard before.  Dogstar was billed in SL Events at “The Storyteller” which drew me right away.  In the air breathing world you will hear it said that the art of storytelling is dying, and I doubt you will find places outside of children’s sections of libraries and some upper crust bookstores where literature (stories in perpetua) are read aloud to an audience.  Dogstar was performing to a standing-room-only crowd of nearly twenty avatars: adult human, kid avis, furries.  His vocal presentation was strong and dynamic.  He used affects discretely to enhance his story: when he told of gruel overflowing a pot it did so, spilling in amongst the audience; when he told a story involving goblins and a puppy which had a repeating sequence as many traditional tales do, illustrated images appeared to support the action.  As I looked around I wondered, where all these people had come from?  I thought of them sitting in homes at or near computer screens, with headsets or speakers on.  I wondered what had brought them to this?

SL to RL: A Possible Crashed Flying Saucer Discovered on the Ocean Floor??? No. I am not talking about in SL… - Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

Many flock to Second Life© for leisure, creativity, Imagination and try to  separate themselves from the real world, and all the stress and  madness in the news these days, but no matter where you go, there is always something going on; good, bad or almost unbelievable.

When it comes to news in either Second Life or in the real world, you could say I’m a media nerd. My Iphone has a folder that contains all the major News Apps like CNN, AP, MSNBC, The White House, Fox News, The Morning Call, The Weather Channel, Discovery News and my horoscopes.

Just getting through all those headlines before bed usually leads to crazy dreams and inspires me to write stories and inform peeps of things happening.

SPOTLIGHT FEATURE: Art by Nature Photography Exhibit by anibrm Jung currently on Display at West of Ireland (WOI) Art Gallery. –Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

Second Life© has some of the most creative artists I have had the pleasure of meeting from all over the world, but no matter how many prims and pixals used to create masterpieces here, capturing the essence of real life and the beauty that can be found in the simplest of things, is a skilled art form created by those that can bring out the details in nature and the vibrant colors found in our real world.

Recently I was invited to West of Ireland’s Art Gallery and greeted by director of (WOI), Hiawatha Runningbear.  If you have never visited West of Ireland, I would recommend putting it on your SL Itinerary.  After some small talk, I headed into the gallery and was immediately drawn to every photograph in anibrm Jung’s Art by Nature Exhibit.  Looking at her photographs, one can only wonder where they were taken and what inspires her. Of course, anything can be an inspiration but for artists like her, it is something from within that draws them to certain things.  So, I gave her my card and asked for an interview.

The Wire: Spotlight feature: Rap Music by Zouk Music Ambassador, Caribbean, French, Creole, English -Cynamon pearl Reporting

Zeelot Gearz is a Zouk music ambassador coming from the Caribeann island of Guadeloupe. He has the talent, smarts and business ‘know how’ to market himself and make a presence in the game worldwide. And you would have to, coming from and obscure little location in the French West indies. The music of Zouk is reminiscent of African rythms, calypso and even a bit of salsa.

If I had to find the Guadeloupe on a map it might take me a minute, but located southeast of Puerto Rico and close to Dominica next to Martenique stands a French West Indian paradise.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: THE OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF METATUNES!

There are millions of talented performers in the world. Some play covers. Some play all originals. Some play both. When iTunes first hit the scene, it offered original artists, mainly the very well known, a great new way to get their music out to the masses on a solid, marketed platform with a huge name behind it. The problem was and remains, how does an unknown, independent artist get clearance to also sell their recorded cover tunes of the artists they love and admire? Well, Copyright Law is very strict! Compulsory Licensing, required for any artist selling any cover, can be obtained, but it's not always an easy process. Furthermore, royalties must be paid to the Copyright holder(s) which means even more leg work… and paperwork.

Twin Ghost - The Album

Hot, sunny summer days - the sound of children playing, traffic, and the aroma of laundry drying on clotheslines. The soundtrack? Soulful tunes evocative of the 70s, infused with the art of the song - before the time of music as a product. A different time, a better time, a more innocent time. These are the emotional connections conjured by the songs of Twin Ghost.
Inspired by the people, the music and the creativity of Second Life, TwinGhost presents his initial solo release album. A collection of nine songs presented for
the modern audience and mastered in the first half of 2011 and simply called Twin Ghost - The Album.
This album captures the essence of the Twin Ghost live SL shows while presenting a refined and well-produced collection of soulful ballads, bluesy rockers, acoustic masterpieces, and hypnotic soundscapes that draw the listener in, all with a poetic and lyrical sensibility as well as that characteristic unique to this artist, the amazing voice.
The Album release party for Twin Ghost - The Album will be happening in Secondlife on August 5th 2011 @The BoomPony event venue. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Amardon%20East/6/214/21
Its a 70's themed party and there will be giveaways for the most elegant, most freaky, most wild and most creative avatar. All winners receiving a full album download. Mr. Virtual World 2011

Here he is ladies and gentlemen, Second Life’s latest Mr. Virtual World – Mr. USA - Jax Aster.

I was rather disappointed not to be able to attend the grand finale event a week ago, due to an internet connection that was not playing ball, but I have to say that at the press presentation which I did attend, I absolutely called the gorgeous Mr. Jax Aster as the winner, and yes I do think I am just sooooooo clever – lol!!

Congratulations to all the contestants and in particular the runners up:

1st runner up, Mr. Japan – Zachary Zufreur
2nd runner up, Mr. India – Varaderobiker Blackburn
3rd runner up, Mr. Greece – Daniele Eberhardt
4th runner up, Mr. Portugal – Matteo Bettoncourt

Without any further ado, I introduce you to Mr. Virtual World 2011: Mr. USA - Jax Aster.

Jax joined Second Life towards the end of 2006. He reckons he has experienced many of second life’s opportunities. He began his journey simply by hanging out with friends and discovering many of the creative sims and creations that SL has to offer. Second Life has offered him the opportunity to explore his creative side as well. He is a photographer you see....

Jax is quoted as saying “I'm your stereotypical true Texan, I like everything big! I like my steak big, my parties big, my cars big, my houses big, but most importantly, I love big. When I devote myself to something, be it a career, a sport, a goal, a challenge, an obstacle, or a person, I give it 110% every time.” Well I guess that rings true since he has now won the BIGGEST pageant of them all too!!!

Asking Jax how he felt about winning his Mr. Virtual World 2011 title he replied ”I am so very honored to have been named Mr. Virtual World 2011 and having been able to represent my country throughout the process. I am so lucky to have been in the presence of everyone involved in this year's competition. I am truly grateful to all of this year's contestants for being such a strong but humble force throughout. You all have pushed me to be my best and without your hard work, dedication, and creativity, I would not be where I am. I have, beyond doubt, been inspired.”

Jax concluded by saying “I am genuinely excited to see what this year holds and the opportunities that lie ahead.”

SL ARTS & LITERATURE: Let The Dancing Begin! DANCE QUEENS Dance Festival IV This Weekend!

Aside from music, dance is probably one of the performing art forms most often subject to abstraction.  While story based dances are common, also common are dances based on themes or abstract ideas, with no identifiable through-line or plot.  The variety of types and styles is vast, from culturally based dance, classical, modern, tap and show dancing, burlesque and the list goes on and on.  Many of these styles will be presented this weekend at the DANCE QUEENS Dance Festival IV, Saturday July 23rd from 8:15am to 5:30pm, and Sunday, July 24th 9:00am to 5:00pm.

SL ARTS & LITERATURE: Virtual Short Play Buffet Concludes this Weekend
